I chose all the opponents, but I'll leave then for you guys to discover. I know I'll forget most of them anyway, but I tried to pick civs we haven't played against yet.

And I'm too lazy to post a pic, but our start point looks like this:

Forest--Grassland--Bonus Grassland
Goody Hut--Settler(Bonus Grassland)--Coast
Grassland--Grassland--Coast

Try to keep the saves in this format:

bc4000dgit3.SAV

[era][year][dgit][game #].SAV

Save won't load for me.. :(

Let's keep one super-strict rule on save fromat:
NEVER UPLOAD A .SAV FILE! ONLY ZIPS!
After what happened in BLA1, I think we should take no chances. ><

Well, we have the seed, so no biggie. Site is updated.

Woohoo!! DGIT 3 has begun. I hope our thread title isn't too prophetic.

So, Alerum68, you are up!

Here's our roster, which I think we are in agreement with, although Blas would like a switch with Oblivion for at least the first round.

1)alerum68 <-- UP
2)-Oblivion- <-- On Deck (switch with Blas?)
3)Blasphemous
4)SolarKnight
5)SandrockLQ
6)SpikeIt
7)Smellincoffee

If anyone has civ available to them now, can they post the start location? Sandrock's "picture" doesn't seem to indicate any luxuries or bonuses. :(
Let's pop that hut! Maybe we get a third "starting" tech. Will a hut pop a tech you are researching? I forget the answer. If so, switch research to Pottery, and pop that baby. And we're coastal with Alphabet. I'm thinking an early Currugh as well. Hopefully we can pick up some nice contacts right off.

Regarding popped huts and techs, I'm actually thinking its the opposite. I believe you pop the cheapest tech available. If so, pick research toward the cheapest tech so we maybe get some extra value.

Im fine with switching with Blas. We cannot set a research project before popping the hut, unless we move the settler until the hut is out of our cultural borders when we settle.

If we settle with the hut in our borders it will be:
- 25 gold
- Maps
- Cheapest tech (would normally be CB but we have that already)

:wow: Wow! I have to say, I like that start... I wonder what the discrepancy is. Maybe one was generated with 1.15 vs 1.22? Of course, if someone else generates the start, the opponents Sandrock chose for us would be gone.

Regarding huts. :cringe: Of course we can't set the research path before settling and popping. Doh! Thanks for clearing that up.

I see you like the watercolor map as well. I think its brilliant. :)

I know, talk about a start!
Watercolour rocks i know. I changed to it after seeing a couple of your picutres while lurking in 2.0 Gram.

Mine was in 1.22

I'm using a modified irrigation in that version though as an experiment. You probably see those in my pics. I'll likely, eventually, move back to the default watercolored irrigations, to keep the look more consistant.

I used all caps when I put the seed in. Perhaps this new map is done with dgit3 instead of DGIT3? I'll run a couple of tests and see what happens.

Ok, tested things out, here's what happened.

Using upper and lowercase letters matters in the seed. When I used all caps I reproduced the exact same map I did the first time. Using lower case produced a map with no water in sight, but does not match the pic above(ie no cow and other slight differences). Either we put in different information, or putting in the starting opponents affects the seed(unlikely), or the seed generator works off of each person's computer clock for randomization(very unlikely).

As far as uploading files, I can understand wanting zip files when the file gets pretty big, but there shouldn't be any problem with sav files loading. Wierd crap, and this game is off to an auspicious start.

I did do all capitals. I just looked through your list again, and i didn't have 'no cultural link'.

That most probably made the difference.

Sandrock, the reason to use .zips it that they don't let you unzip if the file gets corrupted during upload... Because we used .savs in BLA1 at some point the game got corrupted, making spices give 26 shields. This is what caused the game to die.

Okay, so there is some weird happenings going on with the seed. But of most importance, can anyone open the sav file? SmellinCoffee had problems. Did anyone else? I can't try it until tonight.

And Oblivion, why don't you remove that picture. Its just a big tease which will likely cause me to cry a bit when I see our real start.

Earlier picture removed ;)
I can open the save just fine. Maybe you tried it in v1.15 SC?

Here is the start:

Wait! Spoke too soon. Bring back the old picture.
Well that's an interesting start. Nice little land bridge? Butt end of an island? No water, but plenty of coast. We might just have an archipelago map afterall.

Looks like we are really going to need those bg's. Move the worker NE and hope something reveals itself up north? A few choices on where to that settler (worker direction really depends on this). All I know, is the current spot is probably not best to settle.

Boy, what's that thread title again?

Huts: If you're researching something you will *NOT* get it. Set research to a cheap tech... the way it works is you get the cheapest tech you're not researching.

Is the save the one in the first post, or is there another one floating around? I hope that's the current save because I'm going to start this off today.... first, off to patch to 1.22, then expect a turn log today. Conquest or Culture are the best 2 options for us on this one... how do y'all feel about that?

Roster:
1)alerum68
2)-Oblivion-
3)Blasphemous
4)SolarKnight
5)SandrockLQ
6)SpikeIt
7)Smellincoffee

Ugh. Duh, yeah, that's it. I haven't installed 1.22 yet.

I'm thinking conquests as well. Culture - well, I've never won this way, but it doesn't really intrigue me either. What better way to defeat emperor than to conquer it? :hammer:
