DGIT # 3 - The Emperor Level Strikes Back

Nice start. Pop those huts! Maybe we get a surprise settler. We have to take some changes. That's some crazy terrain, but the quarters sure are cozy. We need that settler quick. Let's try and get the choice spots. If we get hemmed in, we'll probably have to build in some filler cities and ready a quick offensive to get some breathing room.

Nice trading by the way.

SolarKnight, yeah, if you need help dual booting still, let us know. A number of us have already set up dual booting.

Oblivion is up!

Aargh. Cross post.

no, no, no, no! Don't pop the hut! Anything above emperor, when you have at least 1 military unit present will produce military 90% of the time, unless your expanionist. If you want to go ahead and do a test and pop it in the save. I'd bet quite a bit of money that it would pop into barbs.

Looking a little more at that picture... The water to the SE of Dehli - fresh or salt? If its salt, we may find the East to be just the edge of our continent. :(

I'm pretty sure it's salt... I didn't check during my turns but with a river so close, a large inland like seems unlikely. Hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.:(

Something else I wanted to mention for this game, since we're probably going Conquest with it....

We need to build artiliary with our military this game. The reasons are many, but the main reason is that we need to practice leader fishing. The best way I've seen is to have a elite with 3hps, and going after a stronger unit that's been bombard down to 1hp. Chances are very good that our unit will lose 1hp, but still take out the enemy unit. Doing this will ensure we get leaders at least double that we did during our last game, and with the power of armies in C3C it's not something we can pass up... Don't forget about the IAs bonus on building ... low shield art in massive numbers will ensure we can match it.

:eek: Yikes! 90%? I never knew that. That seems exceedingly high. So we'll just let the Vikings break it up then? We do want to settler near one. We'll at least need to make sure our settler is guarded. All we need is to shuffle a settler over there and have the Vikings pop the hut. Ouch!

Yep. I'm all about the artillary. I was calling for more Hwacha's last game. But our lack of fighting and probably some bad attacking orders really limited our chances for leaders in that game. Only use elites to attack weekened units. Build rax for vets. Artillary is incredible effective, but its slow. Last game, I tried building up art, and using it, but we were rolling over cities with fast units so the art wasn't able to catch up.

With our new UU, artillary is again going to have trouble keeping up. At least when lacking art support, use vets for the crash troops and mop up with elites on the damaged AI units. But expecting more evenly fought battles, artillary is going to play a very important role.

Good start Alerum. Can't play though i am sorry. Personal problems. Don't pop the hut. Artillery are great. Vikings too close. Some nice land. Some bad land.
Be back to you in 3 days.

Well then. Oblivion - hope you work out your personal matters. We'll catch you on the next turn. But if you don't see a got it here over the next few days and are able to just grab the save, do so and let us know. So... skip Blas, that leaves us with SolarKnight. Can you dual boot or need help? Let us know.

Thanks for the help SpikeIt, I got it now :D

Pre - turn thoughts: Tech parity with everyone, thats good, though remember to check diplo every turn guys, and happiness, mistakes are more expensive at this level.

I'm not too keen on the vikings being so close, but they will be dealt with in due course.

IBT:

Well that multiple cow and ivory city spot looked great but it now belongs to the vikings, that was very fast, (remember the AI production bouses).

Ah Well, we can always take it from them.

Turn 1 2950 BC:

Delhi: Granary -> Warrior.

Warrior to NE hill.

Turn 2 2900 BC:

Warrior moves SE.

Turn 3 2850 BC:

Delhi: Warrior -> Barracks.

South Warrior ->South.
North warrior ->South East.

Turn 4 2800 BC:

North Warrior -> East.
South Warrior -> East.

Turn 5 2750 BC:

Delhi Riots, damn.
lux to 10%.

South Warrior -> East.
North Warrior -> East.

Worker -> Road.

Maya have the wheel but will not give it up for anything.

Turn 6 2710 BC:

Both warriors East.

Turn 7 2670 BC:

North Warrior -> South.
South Warrior -> East.

Turn 8 2630 BC:

Worker -> South West.

North Warrior -> East.
South Warrior -> South East.

Turn 9 2590 BC:

Worker -> Road.

North Warrior -> North West
South Warrior -> South

Turn 10:

Delhi: Barracks -> Settler.

(still had 3 turns to go on barracks, but we need to get growing.)

lux to 20% as delhi riots.

Warriors move again.

Summary:

I tried my best, but i forgot about happiness, my bad.

I switched to settler as we need to get at least one out or we will fall behind.

Good luck next player.

Actually, the AI always intereacts with barbarians at regent level, at least for fights. I'm pretty sure that also extends to popping goody huts.

I say take it Oblivion. Sandrock usually can't play until Thursdays (watch him have time tomorrow morning... :lol: )

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Interacts at barb level? :confused:

That's because it's a typo. They interact with the barbarians the same as you do on Regent level. Let me edit the post. :lol:

What size is our capitol? If it's size 4, we should do nothing with it but train settlers. it should have only been about 6 turns from it... where do we stand now? The key is to have 5+food, and 7+shields. That will get us to size 6 with 28 shields.... will train a settler on the next IBT, and will keep our granary bonus as well.
