Disgusting Culture of Conspiracists

Um. How would that work: "question everything but their own opinions"?

And do you mean their own opinions = the government's opinion? Or the conspiracist's opinion? It's a bit ambiguous.

But I'd have thought you meant the latter. In which case what sort of substance could distinguish between a person's own opinion and other opinions? Or are one's own opinions necessarily more "hard-wired" into the brain than other ones? I suppose that might be feasible. Has there been much research into this?

Perhaps an example would clarify what I mean. Why aren't the truthers skeptical about their own claims that the WTC was brought down by controlled demolition, especially given that it could very well be a false flag exercise?

And aren't we now creating a conspiracy about the conspiracy about the conspiracy by even discussing such highly secret government projects?

Well, if we take the origins of all these crazy conspiracy theories as having their ultimate roots in evolutionary responses to predation . . .

No, I haven't got a clue why truthers aren't skeptical about their claims.

I suppose it might be because their claims give them some kind of sense of self-worth. Perhaps they think they're the ones who can see the truth and are therefore more valuable?

While doubting this way of thinking gives us what?

Ah, but the discerning reader will have noticed I've tripped myself up here, won't he/she?

Which leads me back to a point I made a while ago, but I don't think got addressed by any of the conspiracy theorists present in this thread. Why aren't they skeptical about their own lack of skepticism regarding their own views?

I question my own views all the time.
And I even watched skeptic Chris Mohr's entire video series on the 9/11 attacks, and thanked him for making it.

I question my own views all the time.
I used to be a ditto head.
Last time I voted, I voted for Bob Dole in 1996.
I also question views of other conspiracy theorists, and everyone else too.

Do you?

Lots of truthers are skeptical about "their own claims". That is why there are "LIHOP" truthers. The "let it happen on purpose" truthers.
If you're deluded enough to believe stupid crap like that, you're already living in your own little fantasy world - why would you question it? It's your world and you're living in it.

And we see the entire world of corporate and government propaganda to be a fantasy world. Why would people want to change their happy world? Especially when they have a three bedroom house, with a two car garage, a Chia Pet and 3 Clappers(tm)?

I do believe so, yes. But I could be wrong. It may be I don't question my own views nearly often enough.

Its good to know there are conspiracy theorists that at least propose theories that are physically possible.

Btw Neomega,

Have you thought that the Fluoride conspiracy is one set up by Big Water so we'll buy bottled water instead?

Honest question: How did we evolve teeth so terrible that they require us to alter our water supply?

Also another honest question:

Do you think if America had better mental healthcare we'd see a decrease in conspiracy nuts/theorists?

No, because it isn't insanity that leads people to disagree with conclusions you've came to.

And, frankly, a population of drugged up zombies, towing official stories, sounds like a hell-hole.

I too believe that harassing the families and survivors of sandy hook, 9/11, etc is something that a rational, mentally stable person does

Much like attacking the pope or stalking a celebrity

From the guy who constantly reminds us that not all muslims are terrorists, we get this gem.

It is a gem isn't it? Because I am a beautiful, unique snowflake.

Also; do explain how muslims and conspiracy theorists are at all alike.

Well, both are, by and large, normal people who have slightly delusional ideas about how the world works. There is a minority in each group which lives in a state of agitation, lashing out at anyone who would challenge their opinions, and an even smaller minority that occasionally blows things up.

With exceptions, and exaggerations, this template can be applied to almost every worldview in existence.

Would you say that worldviews have a direct bearing on demeanor?

This is objectively untrue. Many conspiracy theorists suffer from acute mental disorder that causes them to disagree with all authority on a knee jerk. It's why most of the people who believe in one big conspiracy believe in them all - it is a product of mental illness.

Sugar.
That's why English got a reputation for bad teeth. Their sugar colonies in the Caribbean.

Mix that with tea, (caffeine's a diuretic), and they also had abnormally dry mouths all the time.

Then throw in a good dose of ale or wine.

That's some tooth abuse evolution did not see coming.

That's strange. Because my default position is to assume authority doesn't really have my, or anyone's (that I know), best interests at heart. So I really don't trust them at all.

But oddly I don't seem to swallow the more "normal" conspiracies either. Like NWO, or 9/11, or landing on the Moon.

I also don't have much faith in my own sanity, either. But perhaps that's another issue.

Apparently there's a video that even denies that sandy hook took place, that it was all actors and such.

Here it is:
