dl1 -- The Kings of Unfair

Okay. Quite alot happened actually...the short edition...

We got writing.

I settle The Hague (Will show where.)

We got the 'Mids.

Iron Working comes in...and it's basically any and everywhere.

A Great Spy comes in, and I add him to our capital...we may want to spend this game tech stealing...

I did a OBorders agreement with India...and got the expecd gift. Buddhism spread later in the set.

I revolt to Representation for the happiness.

At the end, The Hague has a WB due in two, Utrecht has a Libiary due in 8, and Amsterdam a Settler due in one. It then should return to the libary it was building.

And important thing to keep in mind is that we can build a navy with this inland sea, and the northern gem spot or the spot just south of The Hague can tolerate canals.

got it, will play after some discussion about what you guys want. as for the gem city, I think it'd be best next to the grain. one boarder pop will touch the mountains and block anyone from coming inside. not sure yet if we want to keep or raze that barb city. not sure what resources are over there. i'll take a look at the save probably tomorrow since i have a paper to write (woo all nighters!...:()

The indicated spot does a better job of closing the gap. Looking even closer I think the spot 1E of the grain, then another city to the NE between the lake and the coast would be a better choice.

I remain conflicted about the spot marked Next City even though it gets to use the hill pigs. IIRC there is a coastal food resource 2S3W that also claims the iron with less desert and mountains and leaves room for another on the coast along the river on the empty tundra field.

hey, my internet is down on my comp with civ. for some reason it isnt working  and i have to figure it out. i cant take a look at the save so could you post that screen shot with resources on and possibly resource values for the spots, so it would show 2:food: for a GL and 1:food: 1:hammers: for a GL hill.

my reasoning for the hague where is was was to moai it, but it would still be a good production city without it.

this means swap with whoever when my internet finally gets back up at my apartment

I guess that puts me up then, I got it, will play when I get back from my job interview tomorrow.

Roster:
dl123654 (hopefully will have good news before I play)
shyuhe (waiting patiently)
50 dollar bag (waiting even more patiently)
vra379971 (just played)
Bede (has a long wait)
MrFelony (internetless...)

I thought I posted this before but I guess I didn't, I even remember typing it up before I went to sleep

Turn 0:

IBT:
Darius wants OB, sure

Turn 1:
Settler done, where to go, don't like the next city site for the capital overlap, but Bede's site is a little far for me, so I send the settler the hill east of Bede, taking the fish and iron anyway
Capital continues lib

Turn 2:
The Hague finishes workboat, still need culture so monument, workboat expores the lake for now

IBT:
Judism FIDL

Turn 3:
Rotterdam founded, starts a workboat

IBT:
Oracle BIDL

Turn 4:
Finish Preisthood, start CoL
Rush monument in The Hague

Turn 5:
Start a just in case warrior in The Hague
Capital finishes lib do a quick axe

Turn 6:
Utrecht starts a barrack

Turn 7:
Granary started in capital

Turn 10:
Settler started in capital

Turn 13:
IBT:
Great Lighthouse BIDL

Turn 14:

IBT:
Colosus BIDL
Conf FIDL (2 turns from CoL)

Turn 15:
Capital settler finishes, send towards Maoi spot, can still go north

Notes:
Capital is building settlers, Utrecht is building axes, The Hague and Rotterdam are building what ever improvements they need

We are still a little short on military, capital is currently empty because the warrior is exploring the Maoi site, but axes are being produced

I didn't see a single barbarian outside of their two cities to the north (maybe with the civs changed the barbarians decided to stop their life of plunder and decided to settle down a go for a nice space race  )

Roster:
dl123654 (interview went great)
shyuhe (computerless...)
50 dollar bag (save is waiting)
vra379971 (in the queue)
Bede (waiting to be in the queue)
MrFelony (internetless...)

And of course the save

I think better to sharpen the swords and get the knives out (espionage points and spies)

my internet is back up. hopefully my roommate stops sending out millions of porn emails . unfortunately my power is blown so i need to call my apartment people to get an electrician out here. probably be back up monday/tuesday. i dont like settling inside when we could be expanding outwards towards the AI to stop their own expansion. when the room runs out, we can settle that area at our leisure.

Here's the save.
Sorry no pictures at the moment. Using a dial-up connection at my brothers and didn't bring my notes. So I'm going off memory :scan:

Pretty quite turns.
Sent an axe and a workboat out exploring through GermIndia, Bismark only has the Oracle as far as I can tell, pretty useless wonder to capture really.
Settled the Moai city, it almost done it's monument which will give it a fish and an iron to work.
Can't remember what I researched next after CoL, I think it was Mathematics, current research can be changed to whatever as there's only overflow invested.
Our prayers have been answered as Boudica has Iron, in Rome's fat cross no less.
There's a settler on the way to the "possible city?" site, I'm not sure where to place it, I spent about 5 mins churning it over in my head, then realized it wouldn't be my problem :D (good luck Bede). My $50 on it is to make it coastal and have the lake in range so it can have a 3 food 3 commerce lake to work with when a lighthouse is built.
We got another Great Spy, was a toss up between Settling, Scotland Yard and Infiltration. I chose Scotland Yard. We now have 36 EPs out of Amsterdam and we have enough to see everyones research.

That's about all I can remember. I'll add anything else relevant including pictures tomorrow.

so am I up or Bede? i dont really care. I can wait til it's my turn since it was such a long wait. and i'm no longer internetless Bede ;).

Take the swap, MrF as i won't be able to touch this until Thursday.

I started playing, but then was having problems decidign on where to settle up by the gems. We could go with the city that grabs the 2 gems and the corn, but I was thinking we could take the barb city, place the settler 1N of the W gem, and then fit another city in 3E of the corn. this creates only 7 squars of overlap, but 2 of them are sea tiles. the new gem city would be -3 food so we'd have to farm around the lake. Also, if we capture minoan and make the new gem city, with boarder pops we'd have the rest of the area blocked off as well. I'll wait to finish for you guys to have your say.

the benefits are most likely getting 3 cities vs 1-2.
