DMI IV - The Grand Line (BtS)

Okey Dokey this is my got it looking good. To make sure I have a clear(ish) head after a pleasant weekend in Amsterdam I will post thoughts and plans this afternoon with a report up by late Tuesday evening.

Now where did I leave my eye-patch, fake wooden leg and talking parrot.. Are here they are:

"Shiver me timbers, pieces of eight, Arrgggh Jim lad...pass me my grog"

Ralph

So a few thoughts with my devil-fruit addled serious head on… Don’t worry we will be back to rambling pirate imbued ramblings later on.

So glances back… yep the plan is war and we have a nice army built but yes we are completely enclosed by Mountains and sea so quick check of our Navy…Umm 1 Trireme…

Ok Priority one is ships which means coastal cities and as the easiest way to get hammers from Fuchsia Town is food over flow I will spawn a settler a.s.a.p and propose these two new towns whose top priority will be galleys..

Now onto Fuchsia Town now Citizens aren’t bad but have we considered Caste System.. If we switch these citizens (I think there are 25+ of them) to geeks we can get an insane research rate …. + At least we will be generating GPP points

Now of course we lose slavery but we are only really using this in the Capital and I infer from reaching size 50 that we haven’t needed it yet and after whipping in the Courthouse what is there left to build?

So Plan is..

Two new cities as shown
Build Galleys in coastal cities
Other cities complete Infrastructure then couple more cats then Macemen
Complete Civil Service and switch to bureaucracy and caste system.
Post Civil Service Research machinery whilst our Caste System accelerated GS go down Academy then Liberalism route.
Invade as soon as 2 Galleys complete

hoo-wee! sucks about the artists, but even merging them to cities will nab us the extra beakers from Rep AND will help with Domination, too ~

Don’t worry we will be back to rambling pirate imbued ramblings later on.
This comment brought to you by the Department of Redundency Department  Arrrr! Avast, ye land-lubbers!!

I think Caste System would be TOO huge at Fuschia to ignore at this point.

Just make sure to whip the second galley and a market somewhere (HV ?) before revolting to CS. I think if you use the emphasize research button, the governor should hire scientists as needed.

And sir, you are sending maces to poor Sengoku ? May he die in peace

Ok Played & will report later. I think its fair to say our Tech rate is fairly healthy as we learned 10 techs in 15 turns..

Ralph

Well just as Luffy was settling down to his well deserved post snack nap Nami appeared again…
“Boss, we’ve got a problem. You know you told me to get the boys working on something productive rather than just lying about in the sun not doing anything….”
“Yep, I want results from that lot soon if we are going to keep feeding them” Luffy reminded Nami.
“Well its sort of worked. I tried getting them trying different sorts of Devil Fruit and the results have been ..well interesting”
“Out with it Nami”
“Well a couple of them disappeared off and have returned with clipboards, stopwatches and piles of forms for us all to fit in and assure me we will see great results once we implement their new controls round here.”
“Sounds fair enough to me it is all a bit too laid back” opined Luffy
“Yeah but the really weird ones are this group who really pigged out on this new fruit they say tastes like High Caffeine Coke and Pizza. This lot have all re-appeared looking like geeks wearing lab coats with pens in their top pockets spouting rubbish I just can’t understand. And Boss you know you said REX was passé..”
“Indeed I did” said Luffy rather pleased at the word passé.
“well apparently its not because the Geeks are insisting we use something called RECSSS. Which apparently means Representation Enhanced Caste System Super Science. They say if you let them loose they will soon find a way out of East Blue and out to the Grand Line.”

“Ok let them loose Nami its time we got out of here”

Well let us see what iz on ze Menu for today from our favourite Chef. Aah it is a tasty meal of

“Builder Turns with a soupcon of warring at the end enhanced by a reduced jus of Navy Building”.

Sounds delicious so off we go.

IHT So all the religious techs have gone but Sengoku and Gorosei don’t have one plus some wonders have mysteriously disappeared. Yepp I reckon its time to track down the “Super AI” Imhotep has tucked away somewhere.

Turn 1 At first this appears a lovely random event to enhance our Navy. Of course it is promptly followed by me not building another trireme ever to use it. At least it reminds me to put a little cash away for a rainy day like me mum taught me as it’s absolutely essential in BTS for these events.

Turn 1 East Blue Base doesn’t have terrifying defenders and soon as we get a Galley or two down there it will be ours

Hedgehog Fortress founded.

Turn 2 A GE is born now as Imhotep has snaffled all the tasty wonders already I feel justified in the guilty pleasure of accelerating Maces by partially light bulbing Machinery.

First galley built and starts its slow sail south for invasion purposes.

Turn 4 Meet Arlong who looks miserable. Decide to cheer him to pleased by giving him Polytheism just because it is so much more fun to backstab pleased AI’s.

Last use of the whip for 2nd Galley and Market in Harbour Village as we switch to caste System and Bureaucracy. Was it worth it you tell me..

Turn 6 Navarone founded

Turn 8 we are gaily researching the bottom half of the tech tree and using GS’s for an Academy -> Liberalism run.

Turn 9 the Mini fleet launches forgetting to take a catapult with it thereby delaying the attack

Turn 10 First Mace built…This could be painful for the AI.

Turn 12 War Declared

Turn 15 We capture East Blue Base.

EOT

Well our research rate is quite high as we did

Civil Service (finished off)
Machinery (partial bulb)
Built an Academy
Compass
Optics
Literature (just to check Imhotep had given away the GL – He Had + unlock heroic epic)
Engineering (to check castles are now worthwhile in BTS)
Philosophy (bulb)
Paper (bulb – Might be worth getting world maps fro old techs to see what is out there)
Calendar
Half researched astronomy

RECSS is alive and kicking

Have fun with the Army it should be capable of doing some damage!

Oh my god...this will turn out into a win before we ever reach 1000 AD...  Maybe I should have run a test game...

Was the Representation swap worth?!? We lost 7.50 gpt per turn!

Phew ~ i can't wait 'till it's my turns ~

speaking of which (how smooth of me, no?), I will be OoP this weekend, starting on Thurs, so perhaps I could swap w/Beserks?? lmk ~

Sure thing, Pholk. I can wait a couple of hours before playing :p So you go ahead and take it first.

well, unfortunately, since i don't have time for proper report that would do the previous ones justice, i wish i had taken a skip ~ but, it WAS fun to play and who knows if it'll come round to me again

but, as I alluded to, i only have time for a greatest hits report this time 'round ~ we hit the Renaissance Age circa 500 bc ~

we finished off the Fleet Admiral ~ Sengoku was even trying to settle new cities, too ~ he founded one,

and I caught another on its way out!

We even snagged us a fairly good barb city ~ which was defended by LONGBOWS ~ perhaps the Barbs have the wonders??

Tech-wise, we got Astro, got Gunpowder, and I put us on the path towards Military Tradition then we can head back down for Chem & Mil Science ~ w/Galleons and I discovered some nearby neighbors:

To our east and west respectively, iirc.

We should keep expanding, i think! On another note, I wonder if Conquest would be easier than Domination since the map is large and those LOTS of useless, MT chains in the ocean that both bottles up navies, and also will account for a large portion of the land we can't settle!

Our army is poised outside the boundaries of Philadelphia (who knew i wasn't American, but an Arlong Pirate?? figures . . .)

and we've got 4 Great People to use!!
A Great General:

We should merge him @ Shell for the XP ~

A Great Artist:

I suggest Bombing her at Ainu

and 2 Scientists @ Fuschia:

maybe bulb one and use the other for a GA?? dunno.

As I said, I wish i had time to put up a much better report, but at least now I'll have time to read up more on the Pirates, themselves!

Ok, I've got it then. Will play sometimes tomorrow.

Did a little bit of troop movements to bring the offense toward the frontline, and a little bit of MM to stop growth where we're maxed out and grow where we're not.

Noticed that Oceans Navel has 3 sources of seafood, and we've only got one of them farmed so I rectified that.

Drama came in and since it's only 1 turn, I went for Music.

Hmmm ... since we haven't agreed/decided on what to do with the Great People, I left them all as is.

I agreed with Pholk about merging the GG at Shelltown, so that's what I did.

Music came in and we have another GA at Fuschia, and since we're already way ahead in tech I went for Liberalism to be another step further ahead :D

We got another GS at Fuschia ... they're growing like weed

Philly fell easily, but was auto-razed since it's only size 1.

The resistance mentioned was a lone warrior who was assassinated shortly after.

Met another pirate wannabe.

Well, we've always been liberal anyway

and we want to ride in style

Who are these people we dare demand that we actually work for THEM!?!

Met our last? pirate contender.

And yet another GS is born in Fuschia.

Washington go bye bye

We can build better pirate ships now

Boston join our pirating ways with very little persuasion

What manner of sheeps are these that climbs impassable mountains

Arlong is down to 2 towns which should be easy picking.

Washington is healing up a couple of troops and once the small stack reaches it, it can form another terra forming stack.

We need to decide on what to do with our Great People since they're just taking their share of the loot without doing anything if we don't use them.

Edit: Just remembered. There's a barb galley next to our ocean town on the East side of our island. Be careful since they're looking to loot and pillage our fishing farm there.

Nice warring guys, that's two civs nearly gone in three turnsets :crazyeye:

And I see Buggy is not so far away :mischief: I'd suggest setting the slider to 0% for a while (our research is coming mainly from specialists anyway) to upgrade our galleys to galleons and go kick some clown's a$$

I'd change the EP weights too, Arlong is dead we don't need to spend more money on him. There's still one pirate to be discovered yet (Enel ?), maybe the one who actually would require paratroopers to get to, having 7 religions (he's god after all) and 7 wonders of the world

The capital can build some more workers to finish that university. We can use one of the scientists to start a golden age and switch to free religion. Also switch back and forth to slavery to whip that capital a bit.

EDIT : are you taking the next turnset Imhotep ? Greyfox, is Sngapore CIV blockus over yet ? At this rate, this game would be over before you get your copy.

@blid:

Yeah, I'll play the next turnset. I'll play & report on Sunday.

The precious roster:

1. blid - ON DECK
2. Ralph Jackson - still recovering from those devil fruits at Amsterdam
3. berserks01 - JUST PLAYED
4. pholkhero - just glad to be back
5. GreyFox - location: where no one receives BtS any time
6. Rex Tyrannus - mid-term entry after cleaning up SGs
7. Imhotep - UP NOW

Imhotep

 I went out yesterday and alas still find no BTS. But according to the online gameshop, it was shipped (finally). EDIT: ArrgGHH! ... spoke too soon, it now change the date to 15th Sep!!! :aargh: .... considering that, I formally request to withdraw my spot from the roster.

But I see you guys have a fun crazy time. Feels like playing Settler just for the hecks when you are a Deity-player, eh?

--

those are German Mountain Sheep ~ Imhotepus Rudimentus

and also, I wonder if anyone's who's dl'ed Solver's patch has stopped seeing the partisans springing up as I have done ~ i notice that they came for Beserks, but none have appeared for me since i installed it ~ well, it WAS that and BUG mod, but supposedly, that's unaltered gameplay!

... well, it WAS that and BUG mod, but supposedly, that's unaltered gameplay!
Excuse me for being a little bit confused here ... but what the heck does that mean???? :p

Captain's Log, Thousand Sunny, 25 AD

A beautiful morning. The sun is shining. I've had no breakfeast. MUST FIND SOMETHING TO EAT ! Nami comes in. "What's up, Navigator ?" "Luffy, we have spotted a ship. It's coming in our direction !" "Get the cannons ready. What, we don't have resrarched Steel yet ? Okay...mmm...get the trebuchets ready ! Maybe we'll find some meat. I'm hungry !"

"Hmmm...this guy looks to skinny to be worth a peck. Let him go !"

Captain's Log, Thousand Sunny, 50 AD

Another beautiful morning. The sun is shining. I still had no breakfast. IF I DON'T FIND SOMETHING TO EAT SOON I'LL FEAST ON THE SHIP'S PROW ! Nami comes in. "What's up, Navigator ?" "Luffy, we've spotted ..." "...a ship again ? Hopefully with some meat aboard." "No, we've spotted some new knowledge. It's called Military Science and lets us build better ships for our fleet." "Damn. Who cares ? I want my meat !"

Captain's Log, Thousand Sunny, 100 AD

A fine morning. Hell, doesn't it ever rain around here ? I'm so hungry I could eat my shoelaces. Nami comes in. "What's up, Navigator ?" "Luffy, we've spotted ... " "... some knowledge, I know. Do we now know how to roast a chicken ? That's what I would call knowledge !" "No, we've spotted a ship. It's coming in our direction."

Well, this guy is so ugly he deserves to be killed. New log entry: Kill Baroque Works. Addendum: And the Chef if he finallky hasn't something to eat for me...

Captain's Log, Thousand Sunny, 125 AD

It's raining. That means I'll get no meat, becauser the ships don't sail with heavy rain. Damn. Sogeking comes in. "What's up, Marksman ?" "Luffy, we've captured Arlong Park. The Arlong Pirates have just one hideout left which will fall soon." "Good news." "Also I've brought you some meat." (Luffy's mouth opens to a huge hole, his teeth are like a jigsaw) "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !"

While Luffy hunts Sogeking on the board for the meat, two others show their dislike too:

Soon after, the Arlong Pirates are no more.

Captain's Log, Thousand Sunny, 175 AD

You know. A fine morning. Didn't get any meat, Usopp ate it all. Bastard. Nami comes in. "What's up, Navigator ?" "Luffy, we've spotted..." "... another ship ? I'm tired of those ugly faces !" " ... No, we've spotted some meat. Whitebeard has it all." "Chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarge !!"

"... and a ship is coming !" "Oh no..."

Get lost !

"And our ships have found a piece of land called Drum Island !"

Captain's Log, thousand Sunny, 225 AD

Nami tells me we've learned another thing. Markets and stuff, good for more meat. If I just had any...

I guess I just will make a walk round the corner...

Imhotep

This game is just crazy. I totally undervalued the potential of our capital and I overvalued the capabilities of Emperor AIs. It's feeling like playing Deity as an AI ! It's just unfair raiding cities with modern stuff protected by Archers... I hope that this thorougly misconceived setup doesn't drag all the fun out of the game. This game was meant to be challenging at some point, but it is just a cakewalk. Sorry ! I don't see any way we can lose this. I predict a win before 1300 AD even with the special goal of finding and posessing the One Piece.

The precious roster:

1. blid - UP NOW
2. Ralph Jackson - still recovering from those devil fruits at Amsterdam
3. berserks01 - Maybe he'll get one turnset before the game is over
4. pholkhero - just glad to be back
5. GreyFox - definitely won't get a turnset before the game is over ;)
6. Rex Tyrannus - mid-term entry after cleaning up SGs
7. Imhotep - JUST PLAYED

I only played 10 turns - as we'll do all henceforth.
