DMI XII - Imhotep's Legacy

@LKendter:

Fine :) . I think we should settle as much land as we can in the south west as long as it is uncontested ground. While war is an option, we can delay it yet - there is plenty of room for peaceful expansion and building some more wonders :D !

Got it.

It definitely hasn't been 24 hrs yet (more like about 16).

Anyway, I'll play it in a couple of hours and post either tonight or tomorrow eve.

I looked at the save (and am probably too late). Elephantine should have it's gems mined asap, Thebes will grow unhappy in 2 turns. Maybe Memphis could squeeze out a settler for that cow-site (that almost doesn't sound right  ). Tech-wise Calendar should be our next target for the dyed-bananas. That will also help us get some more money to pay for events later on ( ;) @ LK )

The trouble is to many tasks, and to few workers. I was trying to get to the rice so that Elephantine could grow (if nothing else whip a few things) at a decent clip.

no worries Imhotep

Inherited turn

All is well.

*Checks for WHEOOH*

Order is restored.

She is Montezuma's worst enemy, and she is closer to him than to us, so we should be safe enough to sit back and enjoy the show.

Turn 101 - 350 BC

Judaism spreads in one of our cities. Looks like there is someone on our continent who founded it. Oh wait! It's us. Shows how carefully I read reports then.

Turn 110 - 125 BC

I'm not sure whether I'm playing 10 or 15 turns, but a preliminary calculation suggests 10 so I will stop here.

I cancel the Crab gift to Monty.
Great Lighthouse is BIAFAL

------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the future: after Literature I would suggest Alphabet. Both Monty and Boudica have Maths, so they will trade it to us.

We should also build a Mounted Unit once we have horses hooked up, and promote it to Flanking > Sentry. Then we can put it on a Galley and meet this civ:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
In the short term, we have the Pyramids due in 1 turn, and a Settler in 2:

edit: There has been no DoW from Boudica, so either she is at war with someone we don't know, or a stack is on its way.

What's up with the King of Himself ? Any progress :bump: ? :)

Some comments before turnset, to explain a thing or two that you'll see next:

Monty is not the worst enemy to Boudi. Boudi is the worst enemy of Monty ;) That, the lack of Dow and the fact that Boudi is putting 3 EP/turn on us says 2 thing:

-Boudi only knows us and Monty.

-Monty is not the target of Boudi

Sum 2 + 2 ......

Well, it was a rather uneventful turnset... Finished Mids and revolted to Rep:

We founded another city:

Finished Lit. Debated a lot between Alpha and col, but IMHO CoL is more useful for us ( really .... how much tech trade you expect with Monty and Boudi ? :p )

Who's afraid of the big bad wolf?

Not me .... ;)

Either way I followed them. I knew that monty had only 1 jag and a archer in the nearer city... maybe we could get a free city :p

But Monty holded :(

Anyway here is a screenie of the turnset end. Col and next GP in 1 turn. TGL in 6:

Now some discussion on what to do:

We have lots of good land. We don't need to confront Monty. To say the truth Monty is the only thing between us and Boudi ( literally :p ). So my proposal is to expand like crazy while running specialists and let Monty be. Or even bribe him vs Boudi ( it would probably be cheap ).....

Boudi has costruction as she's researching Monarchy, BTW.

I've had a look at the save. We need more workers. Much more workers. And I think rolo is right, we can expand a bit more. Monty is no threat right now, he is really pathetic. I don't think Boudica will go for us if she decides to declare - we are a long way away from her. As for future wonders: The Temple of Artemis, the Oracle and the Colossus as well as the Great Lighthouse are gone. I hope we'll get the Great Library, we have a good shot at it. The Parthenon and the Hanging Gardens would be prospects of interest after that. Anyway, after CoL we should get construction ourselves and head towards the Liberalism line then...

I've got it.

Will play this one tomorrow night while watching the Olympics finals ;)

Wow, there's lots of room to expand. There are two chokes to the northwest. I suggest taking the sugar site first. Apart from the choke near the wines, I believe the rest of the land is sea-locked. After GL finishes, our capital should crank out some more settler while memphis builds MS for a whopping 15 hammer bonus in time. Oh, and more workers, and some war chariots for better scouting, and some galleys, and... and.... :yumyum:

Pretty peaceful and quite turnset.

Learned a few techs

I've set research to Calendar for the resources, but no beakers are invested yet. So feel free to change.

Spoke to a chick, and opened her doors ;)

Civ4ScreenShot0004-46.jpg

I've got a chariot on its way to scout her land. The 2 barb cities are nicely placed, so I'm building a couple of swords and chariots to take them so we don't have to build settlers. But I also have a settler ready to pop out in 2 turns at our capital.

Strong turnset, as usual berserks :) . I agree with you on the progress, those barb cities would fit into our empire nicely. And Memphis looks really like the perfect place for Moai Statues...

Too bad that the Nat wonders do not count for the DoW limit :(

I agree that we should take the barbs cities ... and if possible, get a WC with extra visibility radius and put him in a galley ;) I want to know if the that greek is Pericles or Alex :p

IT (137): Everything looks fine. :egypt:

Monty has some settlers ready in his cities. I expect him to expand to his west and to the north of Elephantine first, so that leaves us a window to get Illinois first. I leave research on Calendar (in 6) since we have plenty of resources to connect (bananas, dyes and very soon sugar). On a side note: the Great Wall is nice, but I hope there are no skinny barbarians in the neighbourhood that can slip through here:

I press enter and all hell breaks loose! But I resume playing once I get the kids back to bed.

138 Nuthin' much

139 Calendar drops from 5 to 3. Thebes settler -> Swordsman. Church of the Nativity build far.. far away. Henry Ford (GE) born somewhere, 't will be awhile before we see an Edsel drive by.

140 Memphis War chariot -> Swordsman, Moai will have to wait.

141 Memphis Swordsman -> Swordsman. Science dropped to 50% , so Calendar still in 2. I move the settler to Elephantitis and wait with settling him. Game suggests near the gems north towards Monty, but I would prefer far to the NW to block our little part of the world. Looks like Monty is going to beat us to that one though.

Settlermonty141.jpg

142 Nils Bohr born somewhere, units converging on Illinois.

143 Calendar in. Science dropped to 40%. I pick MC next (7t) for our cheap forges: extra hammers, extra happiness. CS is 13 turns but that will rise when we found more cities (but drop when we get the dyes online).

This just came in:

Boudica declares on Monty! I get the feeling one of the next players gets a chance for some backstabbing (Immy?)

144 Thebes Swordsman -> Catapult, Memphis Swordsman -> War chariot. Heliopolis Barracks ->Catapult

145 Yup: Monty took the wine marble site. I have quite some units near Illinois when I realise it's still size 1 :(.

Great: we get another Great Spy.
Spoiler :
Spy145.jpg

I stop here.

MC in 4 turns (tnx to the Dyes science is back to 50 %, only 17g though, Lee). Let's build MoM and save our Gspy for an extended GA. I don't Boudica will do much harm to Monty anytime soon with 3 pults and 2 spears.
