Do you consider yourself a Lefty or Righty

Poll Question

  • Total voters

No, all we've proven is that 70% of respondents voted for the left option.

That sounds like quite good evidence to me.

Didn't we have a thread about errors in polling just recently?

..I don't think so? Link? I can't recall.

Why are leftists so afraid of being in the majority? We got such a viscerel reaction in the other thread and now in this thread! Why do you react so negatively against these facts?

Nope!

I am unsure why you anyone would oppose it, if you wish to return to a previous state of affairs that's reactionary

If that is the definition of reactionary, then I think you could argue the entirety of American politics is reactionary in nature. :undecide:

I'd just like to remind people that at least two people have admitted to clicking "Right" because they were right handed. So if over 70% isn't enough to convince people of a majority, it's even higher over 70 than this poll shows.

That sounds like quite good evidence to me.

CFC has 60,000 registered members. Are 76 respondents (0.12%) really representative of the board as a whole? I didn't bother voting on the poll.

That would be the "83% of doctors..." thread.

The majority of those do not involve themselvves in OT. Why would we care about those who only concern themselves with the other part of the site? It is irrelevent. We are trying to see what is the most favoured idealogical inclination for most people in the OT, AKA the political parts of this forum. The people who voted in this poll are the only relevent ones because they visit OT-T+C frequently.

Again, why are you so terrified of being in the majority? It is truely baffling.

I'm not terrified in the slightest. I'm just against "stupid bandwagons" and "stupid labelling".

Nope!

Because the rights of minorities must be protected

I'm assuming that you're intending that as a stab against the "liberal majority", but it's not coming across as one.

I don't think it counts as "stupid labelling" when peple voted in a poll and identified themselves as one side or another.

I was referring to the thread tags. :)

I've noted, often, that it's not an ideal question nor an ideal way to label people. Yet in the broadest sense it is useful and thats what we are trying to get at. We aren't gauging the varying, naunced idealogical positions of individual members - we are trying to find a general truth amongst the politically switched on members of CFC.

Do you still dispute the majority of the forum are self described as "left-wing"?

The majority of respondents are, certainly. I couldn't make an informed statement without knowing how many regular OT posters there are.

Nope!

Ah, well. They do say that politics is frequently a joke! :D

Anecdotally this board is definitely more left-leaning than the general population. I view that as a good thing... (And not really surprising either considering its demographic.)

Well, at least we've proved beyond reasonable doubt that lefties are a majority on these forums to the extreme ire of some posters :D

Or that the majority of people who responded to the poll self-identify as leftists. Thus, American Democrats may consider themselves to be "leftist," but are such only in the ******** context of our political climate. Most of them are, in the big picture of things, right of center.
