This is for people who live in areas with lots of earthquakes (like California)

Do you fear earthquakes? I do realize that it is a spamy question so don’t tell me that it is!!! I don't live in areas such as this but I think if I did I would not be able to live a normal life.

If you're genuinely interested in finding out whether people actually fear earthquakes, why not use that as the thread title ?
People might give you some answers instead of noticing you're still 88 posts short of being allowed a custom avatar ;)

(For the record, I do not live near an earthquake-prone area, so I obviously don't fear them)

None of those options apply to me. I wouldn't say I am scared, but if a big one were to occur there's no saying how scared I would be. Should I let that keep me from living my life normally? No. I'm ready if one hits, so is most of the Bay.

I don't live near an earthquake-prone area. (More spam from WillJ! ;))

I also don't think this is a very spammy question. :) It could turn out to be an interesting thread, with earthquake survival stories and stuff. Although a poll option probably needs to be added (by a moderator, of course): I am not that afraid of earthquakes, but I am afraid when one comes my way. And maybe one that says, "I'm sorta afraid, but I can lead a normal life." Either that or just edit the options to say yes and no.

Doesn't make me afraid.

Use correct thread titles here, please.

If not, you will find your ability to make vague ones just isn't working.

Like Jeratain, I still live a normal life, but somewhat cautious with Earthquake Preparedness supplies and such. Pretty common here in the SF bay.

Why fear something that occurs without warning?

OK so live in fear over something that u have no control over? yah, sure, i'll do that.
No point in fearing that.

In scotland there is always a great fear of earthquakes, it affects my life hurrendously. Alot of the time im too scared to go to school. So i end up siting on my rocking chair biting my nails and trembling

I am a survivor of the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake just because my mom decided I should stay with my babysitter rather than my grandma. My grandma was OK, but the grand piano in the living room, where I usually played when I was little fell flat and had I been there I wouldn't be posting this today. I am not that scared of earhquakes because we have been trained on what to do, but I am still afraid of some freak accident ocurring, especially since I live so close to the San Andreas Fault.

No faultline anywhere near Australia, so I'd have to say no. I fear birdsh*t ruining the paint on my car alot more...

I've been through a few -- and one pretty big one. Ever since then, when a large person walks down the hall near my cube and (inevitably) causes the floor to vibrate (gotta love modern office construction) I perk up and notice...

They are fun, and not particularly dangerous if you have decent building codes and a little common sense. I feel several small ones each year and have been through a couple sizable ones too.

Sad that in some parts of the world people get killed by only a magnitude 6... and that newspaper writers feel compelled to call that a big earthquake too.
