I personally love mushrooms. In general, but in a local supermarket they sell big heads filled with cream cheese which I could die for. But strangely enough some people don't like them.
A friend of mine said he found them disgusting because of their texture and general composure. Somewhat spongy.

How about you guys? Yay or Nay?

I would kill non-related humans in close proximity and steal their mushrooms. That's how much I love them (the mushrooms, not the humans.)

Deep-fried (hey, I'm American!)
Steamed
On pizza
Cooked into omelettes
Baked
Cream of Mushroom soup... omg...

Man, I'm feeling like Bubba from Forrest Gump here.

I don't like the taste nor the texture.
Count me out.

I love mushrooms but hate marmite.

My sister loves marmite but hates mushrooms.

My sister has appalling taste. Objectively speaking. Though in other respects she's a fine person.

Mushrooms are a food I love, and I don't get why you don't like them. Along with tomatoes.

When I eat and enjoy an olive, I think "gosh, these are good. But, I can tell why someone else might not like them". I get it, even if I don't agree. Beer, coffee, avocado. Sure. gotcha.

Mushrooms? It boggles. It's like telling me you don't like bread. Sure, maybe not in your smoothies. But in general???

Only if they've been sautee'd.

Then they're good. Either on pizza or with steak.

I have them in salads or on pizza sometimes.

Sometimes I eat the ones I find outside, and spend a few hours jumping on turtles and investigating pipes.

This.

You only got one type of mushroom? If it's this - Agaricus bisporus - I like it. Cantharellus cibarius stew and omelette is even better though :yumyum:

In Polish society, the passage from boy to man is marked by learning how to go mushroom picking.

Okay, not quite, but every single Polish person I know who was born in Poland has gone mushroom picking with their families, learning which mushrooms are okay to eat and which ones will kill you. I have very fond memories having these skills passed down to me from my parents and uncles and such.

I love mushrooms on almost anything.

Mushrooms are amazing. So absorpant and therefore the perfect addition to any sauce and go together with so many different kind of cheeses and breads. Who doesn't love mushrooms?

Mushroom smoothies can make for a really interesting next 8 hours. Or a really terrible next 8 hours. User discretion is advised.

I hate mushrooms, except in a few certain dishes (that I can't think off the top of my head). Whenever I eat noodles, I try to find and eat all the mushrooms separately first, since it's better to start from the worst part of the meal to the best.

I remember when we were kids and my family orderd pizzza, my brother, who loves mushrooms, wanted them on the pizza, but I didn't. So my parents would just order the pizza half of it with mushrooms and half of it without. Worked for us.

Deep-fried (hey, I'm American!)
When in America I had them and have to admit - it was rather tasty! I have never seen deep-fried shrooms over here.
Coming to think of it - what I really miss in American cousin are stuffed baked potatoes. I really should make some myself some time.

I see what you mean, especially sicne I went from hating olives to very much liking them, but I think it is not really the taste of Mushrooms that puts people off - but the way they physically feel in their mouths. Or so I am told.

How about you cybrxkhan - is it the taste?

I keep thinking that since you are likable there must be something somewhere we can agree on, even if it's trivial.

That said, you can have my mushrooms. If I wanted fungus on my food I'd just leave it in the refrigerator too long.

YES. Mushrooms with rice. Mushrooms with rice and chicken. Mushrooms on anything!

Provided they're the right mushrooms, of course.

Thank you all. More for me :)

Yes please, take them all! :D

I'm thinking it probably has to do with the physical feel, as you say, as I think it's similar to why I don't like eggplant, and why in most of the cases where I'm okay with mushrooms it's because they have been modified (for example, turned into a sauce, or a broth of sorts, etc,).
