Are new members welcome...it depends.

If you want the red carpet put down just because you are new and have done one post which is "Hello, I'm new" then no, that won't happen. Will they be welcome is the post a thread that has been discussed a million times before...probably not again.


If you come along and make constructive or funny posts and get on with things, you'll soon fit in, I may honour you with an insulting post sometime as well.


Maybe an auto-mated "hello-newbie" post would be a good thing to welcome newbies when they make their first post and save the rest of us the effort of being nice to all those thousands of 1 post wonders ;)

When I frist came here htis was the first ever forum I had posted at. I didn't know the routine of the place of what previous topics were etc. So I posted a couple of threads. Some of them were blatantly repetiitve to you veterans but it was new information to me. Now 7 months later. I cringe when ever someone posts a repititive done to death thread or accuses the ai of cheating or spearman are more powerful that tanks thread.
Most noobies, like my self, dont know the place and it takes a while to work it out and find the info that you need.
I for one appreciated the friendliness of this site and the patience of the moderators.

The best one I ever got was form ZULU_7812 ( I think that is his number). Everyone should experience Eddie at least once

This is a good idea. It should have a run done of what the site is about and where to find stuff. Also some helpful posting hints like
THE AI DOESN't CHEAT!!! etc.
 
I never really had much of a welcome here but then again I never made a thread going 'Hello everyone! I'm a newb!". I just jumped in and started posting..................then proceeded to dissapear for like a year.
 
That's the way it goes around here. ;) You just swim right in and start posting. If you're ok, people will notice and remember you. :)

Well, if you're not that ok, sometimes people remember you too, only negatively. :p

What IS IT with all these people with, like, 2 posts, both of which are probably completely uninteresting anyway, coming and whining that they're not getting special treatment? :confused: Is it some kind of a new fad? I've seen lots of threads like this recently...

You have to understand that there are no free rides here. Like in any organized society, you must contribute in order to expect something in return. You're not going to get any postcount handouts from those who have it bigger than yours and have worked hard to earn their custom avatars... those who have the most competence to say something interesting will earn their place, and the others perish. Survival of the fittest!

Just kidding :) ... welcome... this place actually has fairly nice people, trust me... ;)

In case some n00b is left wondering, this tries to emulate the style of discussion that often takes place in OT... :p

Inresponse to what Padma said: I typed in Marine Corps symbol in google images and 1 resault popped up the Marine Corps falg, so I went with it.:D Since after all My name, sig., and title all had the word Marine in em so I needed one for my avatar. (not to mention I'm opssed with the US Marine Corp, notice the caps,)
 
Doesn't SpyCatcher use that one on Gamecatcher?
