Do you new users feel welcome here??

Amonaobse,

Welcome to the forum!:) We were all new users once and most of us haven't forgotten where we came from. Yes, we all came into this world naked once; so whenever we see newborns, we do not see their nakedness, but we see the future star posters here at CFC.;)

Why hide the postcount? I like that as a statistic, which should be obvious by now.

This is post #1500 for me, BTW. :p

What's the matter with having a visible postcount, then? The rationale I follow (and probably many others) is that the postcount is an interesting little statistic but isn't really important. However, I'd like that statistic to remain visible.

If it isn't really important, then why do you want it to reamin visible?

I think that it encourages spam. Quality over quantity, and an unhealthy obsession for finding some reason to post in just about any thread, whether you've got a point to make or not.

But then again, that's just me. :)

Edit - this is the second thread in about a week where a newbie has mentioned their treatment as a newbie. Hiding the postcount would make newbies more difficult to identify.

Hell, why we're at it, lets hide the 'date joined'.

I felt slightly welcome here.... Don't remember it all to well though... It was about 2 yrs. ago.

I joined exactly 6 months ago.

I felt somewhat welcomed here, though it didn't come to my mind much. I didn't really think about it. I probably would have disappeared after about a month if I hadn't seen the demogame and gotten involved.

I felt welcomed, but then i almost immedialtey got into a debate with the (once :D) king of the history forum, Calgacus, about just how great was Alexander the great... never did reach a conclusion, but if I recall it was an Alexander supporter who got in the last word...

posting all depends, OT can definantley help you become a vet poster, provided your not obnoxious/raceist/somthing bad like that, and the history forums can bump you up a notch or two as well, as the gistory forums are definantlet the place for the civilised poster, and can help teach good forum manners.

Same with me. Though I would pop in from time to time.

I'm with Moonsinger on this one. We were all newbies once. Some of us try hard to be welcoming to the other new folks who come here, others are a bit "gruffer". The only time I get gruff with newbies is when they break forum rules, which even newbies *should* read. ;)

I *thought* I am the 'king' of the history forum... :p :mischief:

It was kind of hard to feel welcome starting off in the democracy game, as it took a few months for you to get a chance of winning a position (Civ2 DG is a little less hard). The next forum I moved to was the NES forum, which is an awsome forum that I still play games in. We are always newbie friendly and would be glad to help people out. I didn't start regularly posting in History and OT until about 1000 posts, but even then I felt extremely welcome there. I felt I could contribute my piece of mind and people would respect me for it. By now I would consider myself somewhere in between newbie and vet, since I have been here for almost a year and gotten to know a lot of posters here.

Welcome, and if you have any questions, you can ask one of your friendly neighborhood moderators, or I will be more than happy to answer one of your questions.

Mods are more like little gods running around doing your thing, so you cant be king :p (and for clarifactaion, TF is the all powerful male warrior-skygod of the CFC religion :D

(and a word to the new guys- it is best, i have found :mischief: , to make sure yo remember this)

I think I felt pretty welcomed when I joined last year. I believe I had registered with a few other message boards that same day and the folks over here appeared to be friendlier to newbies than over at the other ones.

One reason I like this place is that it isnt clannish or newbie-phobic. That "I dont know you therefore I dont like you and will ignore you" mentality doesnt prevail here. The average civ player/poster is somewhat more intelligent than average, thats probably why.

Mostly I don't have a problem with newbies unless they insult the Marine Corps.
BTW any chance of adding a new rule.

I find people here to be very rude and abusive.
