Do you often leave your city/town, or travel often?

Outside of holidays, I'll normally leave one weekend out of every other month. I don't like staying in one place for too long. I usually go to Erbil.

Last week I drove 8 hours for a music festival and then 8 hours back 2 days later. I also semi regularly drive 3 hours or through back-country roads to the coast.

Australia's a pretty big place.

It's gone in cycles for me. Until about 2006, I almost never traveled, outside of visiting relatives in small towns a few hours away. Then from 2006 - 2011, I traveled a lot due to studying about 500 miles from where I lived, and took several larger trips in conjunction with that. For the next year and a half, I had a job where I'd travel about once a month, so I traveled regularly then, too.

But since moving back to my hometown about two years ago, I've traveled very little. Last year, the only large city (100,000+) I visited was Cleveland, and that was more meeting up with a friend who was traveling there than actually seeing the city. I did visit a small town of 3500 or so about an hour away for the first time, and that was an interesting, outdoorsy day. But for the most part, I stayed within the city I live in and the nearby municipalities.

I hope to take at least one long-distance vacation this year, to see something different. Hopefully I'll also have at least a couple more day trip type voyages.

A lot of love for Chicago here. I love living in Chicago but I do leave the city on business usually once or twice a week mostly to the suburbs. My wife leaves town much more often for biz.

We travel a fair amount for pleasure too. Recently we've had some travel delayed due to the inlaws moving over spring break. We will be in Michigan for that.

Much as I stand by the fact that you alls' stink town ruins the rest of the state(it does): even I'll put up with it for an afternoon for the zoos, museums, and maybe an evening out on a Cubs game day.

Compared to most you, I guess I get out out of town a lot. Most of my out of town travel is on business: Chicago, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Dallas recently. Coming up: San Diego, St. Louis, Las Vegas. Much of my business travel is to conventions or trade shows so I get to Las Vegas frequently :( . I am working on justifying a conference in London in June. [cross your fingers]

I leave the town I live in currently fairly regularly. But the...the town I live in currently is fairly [feces] so...

I don't leave my city all that often. Lots of people spend their weekends away, but I don't do that apart from when I'm visiting my grandparents, and then that's barely out of the city (albeit two hours away). I prefer to spend free weekends enjoying home. But then when I do leave my city I tend to do so fairly seriously; I've spent about a third of my adult life overseas.

I do commuting to Oslo five times per week.
I'm actually on the train right now.
It's pretty awful, I wouldn't recommend it.

I also travel to a summer house near the border several times per year.

I leave my city a couple of times a month -- at least once to my uni town, to use its library. (Its nonfiction section is worlds beyond my public library's.) I also drive to a nearby suburb of the state capital once a month to get out of town, try different restaurants, and shop.
