How many of you read locked threads? Any particular reasons? Do you read them if you have not posted in them?

Oh yeah, sometimes they're locked because they got out of control, which makes them interesting. Actually I hardly read OT anymore though. Real lack of quality :p

Of course I do! I need to see what sort of spam has already been done so that I ensure that the spam that I output is always fresh and creative and not the same low-quality low-grade spam that turns forums into uninteresting cesspools devoid of any thought whatsoever.

Sometimes, if it's an interesting topic and I want to see what caused it's demise.

Almost always, to see why

What's so special about locked threads. Many of them have degraded into spam or a giant flame war that turned a good thread bad.

I read them because they are locked. To see what all the fuss is about, and who went on vacation. :D

Giant flame wars are fun. No one rubbernecks to see a couple of friendly folks having a picnic on the side of the highway, they want to see blood, gore and severed heads (and they're not allowed to burn heretics and witches anymore).

L:ke reading them.

What topics isn't allowed
what the mod said o close it
who's getting into trouble

its about as close to gossip on here as you can get!

I read the ones that are locked for reasons other than spam, or repeat thread or something. Controversial ones.

Spam is spam, high or low quality it's still pretty meaningless, otherwise it wouldn't be spam, no context = no content no matter how many long words, clever analogies or trite nonsenses you put in it, it occupies the readers thoughts for exactly as long as it takes to work out it's spam, not that it can't be entertaining or even funny, but it's generally of no real merit. I would contend with your assertion that spam is high or low quality, generally it's all bilge. But then mostly you post stuff that has relevance to a topic so what your difining as spam is probably not spam anyway much of the time, if it was then you wouldn't be posting here still. Either that or the admins have no idea what spam is which is of course nonsense.

Spamming an internet forum is when a user posts a message that is off-topic or has little relevance to the subject being discussed, or a post that fails to contribute to the thread. Lastly, there is also the case where a person posts messages solely for the purpose of increasing his forum ranking.

I always read the locked threads first just to see the corpses littered over the battlefield or what was considered too offensive for conversation, man that's were the action is. I think most people are curious when they see a locked thread, it's just human nature.

but how do you know whether they were locked for spam without reading them?

When I see a mod is the last to post in what seems from the title to be a spammy thread, I usually check it out, because alot of the time, the thread was so stupid, its funny as hell.
