When I see a mod is the last to post in what seems from the title to be a spammy thread, I usually check it out, because alot of the time, the thread was so stupid, its funny as hell.
While we're here, do you also try to time your post so it's #20? :mischief:

When I think of it, and have somehting especially pithy to say, yes. I hate it when I make a great point, and 2 seconds later, its buried at the bottom of page one. Happens constantly:rolleyes:

I set my page count to 30.

its about as close to gossip on here as you can get!
That is so true.

someones already said it but its always interesting to see how the mod closed the thread as well :)

I wonder if there is a way to search for all threads that are locked and not stickied? Or if they could be archived all together in a "history" thread of past transgressions. Of course such a thread should not be locked. ;) I'm sure Perf could come up with a great name for such a place.

I have a little looksie so as to ascertain whether Hardman or three luminaries from the distant past have come a-calling.

I remember something very vague, along the lines of "In the dark..." :p

All of the time. Sometimes it's just to see if what the moderator said when he or she closed it is funny.

I do mostly 'cause I don't pay enough attention to notice they are locked.

normally followed by what can only be described as ******************************************

Quite often I don't realize the thread is locked until I get to the end and read the mod's post announcing that he or she has locked the thread.

I read them to conduct... 'experiments'... on unsuspecting spammers and trolls.

Oh wait, you didn't read that! :mischief:

I can't stand locked threads (and I'm speaking of webboards in general, not just here).

Most of the time I read a locked thread, it's because I don't see that's it's locked, and I waste my time reading all through the thread. Alternatively it's a thread I spend much time taking part in, only to have it locked because a mod's bored of it.

Sometimes it's worthwhile to lock up a thread - if it's a troll thread from the start. But it's annoying when a thread is locked whilst genuine discussion is going on, because of a few people flaming - why not ban those people? Or sometimes I see threads locked simply because the mod is bored of it, or thinks the discussion isn't going anywhere.

The ability to lock threads is the number 1 thing I hate about webboards; it's sad that people moved away from places like Usenet, where the control on what to read was in the hands of the user, not someone else.

I read through all the old Babe threads after joining here, they introduced me to some women whose pictures I would have never otherwise seen . . .

I also like to read some that turned into flaming wreckage. Especially ones about religion, especially ones graced by a certain poster who no longer posts much but certainly added . . . variety to every thread he posted in.
