DocT3 Best Start Ever! (Emperor)

Pre-turn 1435AD
- Some minor MM tweaks: fire clown in Carthage to prevent pop. loss, raise lux. to 20% to prevent riots in Carthage and Seoul.

<Hit enter: Leptis M. rifle -> rifle.>

Turn 1 1440AD
- Shuttle rifle to garrison Seoul.
- Japan knows Fascism.
- Trade our WM around for some extra gold, and to stay on the good side of our neighbors (Japan and Sumer. are both ‘cautious’ and we are weak vs. their military.)
- Revolt for Democracy; 5 turn anarchy.

Turns 2,3 1445-1450AD
- Our gpt jumps to +121 during anarchy. Workers continue building railnet.

Turn 4 1455AD
- France and Sumer. know Medicine. (No trades possible.)

<IBT: Sumer. ships approach Oea.>

Turn 5 1460AD
zzz

<IBT: Sumer. ships depart our waters; anarchy ends, we are now a Democracy; our palace gets some nice landscaping out front.>

Turn 6 1465AD
- Lux. set to 20%; Elec. due in 4 turns at –63gpt.
- Switch Utica from cav. to MA (pre-build for T of E).
- Planted another forest on tundra by Utica and moved some citizens around to get it to 25 spt.

<IBT: Ulsan worker -> CH.>

Turn 7 1470AD
- Trade our WM around again for some addt’l gold; all civs. are now polite with us.

<IBT: Pyongyang worker -> MP.>

Turn 8 1475AD
- Otto. knows Communism.

<IBT: Japan and Sumer. sign MPP (I thought they already had one?); Seoul library -> rifle.>

Turn 9 1480AD
- Otto. knows Medicine.
- Sumer. learns Elec. We are still 1 turn away, but the cost is dirt cheap.
- Trade with Sumer.: WM and 9 G for Elec.
- Trade with Otto.: Elec. for Medicine and WM.
- Trade with France: Elec. and 165 G for Ind.
- Set research to Sci. Method, due in 8 turns at –66 gpt.

<IBT: Camul. duct. -> MP; Hadrum. library -> univ.; Japan is building Univ. Suff.>

Turn 10 1485AD
zzz

Spent most of this turn-set in anarchy, so not a lot of progress with builds. I am not sure if SM was the best choice for research, Sanitation would have been better for timing the pre-build. My concern was that Univ. Suff. would get built before we learn SM, leaving us without a pre-build in Utica.

I think going for Sci Method is a good choice. Sanitation isn't a high priority. We can always get in a tech before TOE completes (finish the tech the turn before we get the wonder).

I would try to make sure our island towns have enough defense. I would like to be able to refuse all demands for Sci Meth. Our main continents are probably fairly safe, but we share islands with both Japan and Sumeria.

I believe if we fight from within our territory the MPP won't activate either if it Sumeria or Japan.

Carthage, 1485AD

Hm, we get SciMeth in 7, our prebuild will barely hold 300sp at that time…
Better rush a Factory before IMHO. Problem is, we’re 60gp short of that.
Can sell Saltpeter to France for 54gpt, make the deal. Turn down Science for one turn.
Don’t see the point why we have a lot of Workers planting Forest for the ex-Korean tundra towns, when better cities like Entremont and Camuludonum would need them. Also, I’ll join most of our native Workers back.

Turn 1: 1490AD
Rush Factory in Utica.

Turn 2: 1495AD
France has Corporation.
Rush University of Carthage.

Turn 3: 1500AD
Rush Coal Plant in Utica.
IBT:
Japan declares on Ottomans.

Turn 4: 1505AD
Utica pulls a nice 50spt while still working the maximum commerce tiles :D.
I see no need to get SciMeth before our prebuild is at 400sp.
Buy Dyes from Sumeria for 38gpt.
IBT:
Sumeria cancels our Furs deal.
Sumeria declares on poor Ottomans.

Turn 5: 1510AD
Zzz..

Turn 6: 1515AD
Zzzz..
IBT:
France declares on Japan. Sumeria declares on France.

Turn 7: 1520AD
Zzz…
Sell Horses to France for Wines and small change.

Turn 8: 1525AD
Finally found a city on that lone Grassland tile near Carthage, and the proposed name is indeed Carthago Novo :D.

Turn 9 & 10: 1530/35AD
Zzzz..

NOTES:
*SciMethod and MilAc is due in two, Big Picture of course. What should we grab? RP and AT?
*Don’t try to grow our fishing villages. Keep Seoul as 2 turn Worker farm, and join Workers like nothing.
*France still has a monopoly on Corporation.
*Surprisingly, only Japan is in Fascism; Sumeria, Ottomans and France are Democracies. France managed to capture a few remote Japanese towns, including the one next to that former Celtic city of ours. Ottos recaptured 2 cities on their island. Everything looks pretty balanced right now.

The Save

That's correct usually, but here the AI is pretty lazy in researching anything. RP offers immediate benefit (at foremost, the Civil Engineers). I think we can increase our research capacity with the help of RP and ComDecks after that (what tech was that? Mass Production?) by a lot more than 30%.
And I'd feel a lot safer with Infantry. We still don't have much more than one defender/city....

True.

Up to the next player I guess.

Can we build Hoover on our home continent? I don't remember any rivers there. [Edit: or is it any fresh water source? My memory is telling me it has to be a river but that may have just been an assumption on my part]

Can we build Hoover on our home continent? I don't remember any rivers there. [Edit: or is it any fresh water source? My memory is telling me it has to be a river but that may have just been an assumption on my part]
We cant build hoover.. japan and france has the only 2 rivers on the map

1535AD, turn 0:
Hmm.. seoul is supposed to stay a 2 turn worker factory.. but it is currently building a rifle due in 9, and switching i to worker would waste shields.. I MM it to finish a settler in 2 turns and it should be back on track again for 2 turn workers after that.
I appear to have some weird graphical bug.. all marsh tiles look like some kind of pink fog.. so I reboot PC and start over :p
Marshes look normal again.. wish I had taken a screenshot :)

do some other minor MM.

1540AD, turn 1:
hmm.. summeria would pay us 93gpt for iron.. I decide to pull the deal since if earlier reports was correct it wont be accepted in tech deals unless we reneg peace, and this will give me more gold to throw in.

A lot of workers are improving tiles that can never be used unless more cities are founded, so abort their work and send them where they can do useful work.
can lower sci to 20% and still get scientific methods in 1 turn.

IBT:
scientific methods comes in, use big picture to change the build in utica (we could have used universal suffrage as prebuild btw)

carthage: Temple -> factory
seoul: settler -> worker
cheju: aqueduct -> court (it is 1 food short of growing so MM it to grow next turn)
cirta: aqueduct -> bank

france start ToE... seems like they got Sci methods aswell this turn..

1545AD, turn 2:
we have 4 turns left on ToE.. we should get it unless there is a cascade from US.

notice we still dont have embassies with france and ottomans..

establish embassy with france.. they build US in paris, 6 turns to go.. (paris is making 20spt)

ottoman capital isnt very interesting.. size 5, 2 clowns.. building cannon

france and ottomans are at peace, so france might sell sci methods to ottomans. both france and ottomans are at war with summeria and japan.

inspect lagash and tokyo (the other 2 cities building US)

tokyo is 30 turns away from finishing.. (making 16 shields per turn)

Lagash is 5 turns away from finishing.. making 12spt.

Looks like we will get ToE, so I sell sci methods around.

japan has no cash.. so to get full money worth I pick up communism (a few cities could benefit from police stations).
sci methods and 478gold to japan for communism

scientific methods to summeria for WM,189gold and 42gpt

scientific methods to ottomans for WM, 63gold, 18gpt and incense

this allows 10% lux tax while keeping WLTK day in almost all cities.

the only tech we can research in 4 turns before TOE completes is fascism, so I set sci to 0% to make cash.

switch sabatha from temple to police station

carthage gets police station too

IBT:
P'yongyang: market -> library
Rusicade: library -> police station
Nora: cannon -> court

palace expansion

summerians start ToE

1550AD, turn 3:
found malaca

IBT:
entremont: market -> factory
seoul: worker -> worker
pusan: market -> police station
namp'o: court -> library
camulodunum: market -> police station
hyangsan: court -> aqueduct
ulsan: court -> library (culture pressure)
cartago novo: harbor -> market

japan start ToE

1555AD, turn 4:
join workers to entremont and cirta.

IBT:
Lugdunum: aqueduct -> market
pyongsong: aqueduct -> court
cadiz: court -> market

1560AD, turn 5:
MM some.

IBT:
TOE completes..
learn atomic theory.. electronics is only 25% more costy to research than replacable parts, and we cant build hoovers (japan and france has the only 2 rivers on the map).
However all the other civs are at war, so it is likely they will research RP soon, so I follow the traditional path and pick electronics as the 2nd free tech.

Utica: TOE -> MA (can use armys for prebuilds after it complete.. but will most likely switch it to stock exchange first)
seoul: worker -> settler (building a settler in 4 or a worker in 2 is same for raising city pop, and we make more gold that way, plus there are a few more spots for fishing villages)

1565AD, turn 6:
atomic theory to france for fascism, corporation,WM,55gold and 21gpt (everything they had)
japan and summeria has nothing to offer

buy worker from summeria for 108gold

I am betting on that AIs are researching RP, and set research at 90% on refining, due in 8 turns, and we still make 50gpt

IBT:
summeria wants MPP and ROP.. I dont want it.. :)

France and japan sign peace

Lepis Magna: Rifle -> university

sumeria complete universal suffage in Lagash

1570AD, turn 7:
I was right.. summeria got RP now :)
wow.. its expensive..

buy replaceable parts for AT, corporation and 1145gold from summeria

we have rubber at horse island.

IBT:
sumeria and ottomans sign peace

1575AD, turn 8:
both france and japan picked up RP in IBT

IBT:
Theveste: University -> infantery
Hadrumetum: University -> inf

1580AD, turn 9:
just more MM

IBT:
seoul: settler -> settler
wonsan: library -> police station
Lepis minor: university -> infantery
rusaddir: aqueduct -> market

1585AD, turn 10:
found Gades

The save

partial Turn log.
Iht: NOt much to do. We are the tech leaders, very nice.
IBT: Sumeria and France still fighting.
Turn 1: We lost a lot of income. Sulcis, Duct to Court. We have bled our opponenets dry of gold. UTica can mine and work 2 mountains for extra shields over the tundra it is currently working.
Turn 2: I don't remember corruption this bad in Demo before. Starting some Police Stations in Hippo and seoul. I assign some engineers.
IBT: Japan demands atomic theory. In our current state, refusing would be dumb. Arghhh. Maybe I should have said republic warmongering.
Turn 3: Refining in 1, gold to +280.
Turn 4: refining in, Steel in 7 at 90%, -14 gpt.
IBT: Renegotiate dyes with Sumeria, we give 13 gpt and salt instead of 38 gpt.
Turn 5: I spy 2 oils on the whole map. 1 is in the middle of Japans main island, the other is on the same island as augustodurm. The French currently own the town.
rest to come tonight.

Turn 5: cont: I start moving our army towards the oil. Rush Temple in Augustodorum for the heck of it.
Turn 6: Not too much.
Turn 7: France and Sumeria sign peace. Turn down an Otto MPP.
Turn 8: Lose the French Wines, they wnat an obscene amount to continue.
Turn 9: Land the army by the French. We build the Homeric Epic. Doh.
Turn 10: Sold the Ottos the corporation for 17 gold and a WM. Manuevering everything for a lightning war against the French.
We have 6 turns of deals left with the French. We should really take good care of our army, as Privateers are out in force. If there wasn't so much other stuff that we needed, I would suggest some of our own. An oilless Sumeria allows for some quick wars once we become enlightened enough to get tanks and bombers.
Steel in 1.

We would need to either rush some workers then as well, or build a military convoy to get them over there. I believe that the privateers are French, as they sail continually by French ships. I have not seen any Sumerian ships, but it doesn't mean that they do not exist. I have found that mass irrigating everything for max growth and then using civil engineers is by far the most effective method of building stuff.
