UPDATE TWENTY THREE
The Splintering of Mictlan colonies
For a (short ?) time, there were no great wars. There was a duel of shattering consequences, but mostly each nation sought to continue on the path it had set for itself. and that didn't go as smoothly as most would have liked.
In
Pythium Pangaeans work hard to develop their industry, and their wood-working skills are admired far and wide. Pangaean chairs and tables are beautiful, if heavy, objects, that many neighbours start imitating.
In Dacia, a witch used glowing crystals to build potions that she used to drug people, forcing them to do her biding. She stole money from several villages and left, hoarding a lot of money in the process. Not only the villagers were left without money, but most of those she gave potions died within a few weeks of her visit. After months of misdeeds, the witch was finally shot down by a burst of lightning as she started her evil deeds in a new village. Villagers praised Celes for this lightning bolt, but many Dacians had died because of the evil witch.
The coastal region of the Colchis province was devastated by terrible tornadoes. It will take awhile to rebuild lsot infrastructure.
In Pangaea, a few fanatics tried to cause more strife and pogroms but they were arrested rapidly as most of the population now considers the unfaithful aren't worth harassing. As a result, Micltan and Arshnoc followers were left alone and didn't suffer from these fanatics.
In Pythium proper, a merchant ship managed to reach the shore thanks to great lighthouse. They were lost in a storm and only managed to escape their fate thanks to the light. The thankful ship owner donated gold to the lighthouse authorities when his captain told him the story. However, soon after this arrival, horrors attacked Pythium once again. Ether warriors and emerald guards repelled the monsters, but citizens are worried that these attacks may keep going on. They ask the government to ensure that the cause of these attacks be found and eliminated.
In other news, many archers flocked to serve the Pythian army in Amazonia.
Arshnoc agents in T'ien Ch'i openly stigmatise Lanka. They blame Lankans for the lack of sunlight.
In Arshnoc, demons of celestial fires crossed the Celestial Gate to help Stheran and his people.
Mictlan wizards performed a ritual to draw mana from starry nights. This Stellar Focus ritual is likely to remain active forever, bringing more magic to Mictlan lands.
In
Vanheim, dwarven smiths perform some strange smithing operations:
Gwen watched as the Smith and his assistants wiped the anvil clean, resisting the urge to throw-up, something quite a few of the dignitaries were doing, not that she could blame them. As the gore was cleared away, a glowing bar, like glass, could be seen on the anvil. The Smith grabbed it with his tongs, and held it to the chest of the hulking form standing near the altar, and hammered it against its chest. As he did, it faded.
When the whole bar was gone, he stepped back, and the figure began to move.
So you are reborn, Steinn Sal Karl. He said, stepping back.
Gwen couldnt help but feel fear, and despair as the ministers all applauded.
Meanwhile, a feud between Fomorian chieftains erupted. The cause of the dissent is unclear, but the conflict soon became violent, and the situation quickly degenerated into a deadly vendetta. The local militia tried to calm down the belligerants with little success. The crisis ended when both chieftains finally met and killed each other. The vendetta caused many deaths and a lot of unrest.
In Niefelheim, an ancient Niefel jarl left his icy home to join
Jotunheim armies.
In the
Abysian province of Marignon
- The Council of Catalonia has been going very well and once it will conclude, the election for new governor will begin. However this may not be so.
On the last session of the council, an Inquisitor who goes by the name of Guisseppe el Migo, the mercenary Inquisitor was given the chance to speak about his theological views. What should have been an affirmation to all that was agreed upon was suddenly crushed by what Inquisitor Guissepe was about to say.
He first agreed that the validity of the council and that a unified state religion must be ratified but then he spoke with outrage about Abysia's lust for blood. He condemned the horrifying practice of Blood Magic and that a religion that founds itself with sacrificing victims to demons is bound to doom all its believers. This of course caused an ourtrage to all Abysian Priests especially the Demonbreds who shared that the Blood Magic though dangerous on the hands of evil can be used for good.
However the Abysian Priests' rebuttals did not deter Inquisitor Guiseppe. He further ranted that if their should be any kind of conscientious uniting of the two faiths then Abysia must give up the use of blood magic.
After the Inquisitor was finished with his speech, the whole council broke into chaos. Everyone was divided; Marignon Priests against Marignon Priests, Abysian Priests who supports Blood Magic against those Abysian Priests who deemed it as an old practice that should be forgotten. The chaos escalated so high that the attendants of the Council were already at each other's throats.
Seated above the high pedestal, enthroned above the dais in the rebuilt House of Just Fires that housed the thousand of Priests in the Council sat Priestess Selena, Mighty Sagra's Prophet of Foreign Affairs. Now her office of being Abysia's Foreign Minister does not entail her to be seated at the highest seat of the Council but she was not present in the Council as Abysia's Foreign Minister but instead she was present as Mighty Sagra's Vessel. Seated on the dais was not the Foreign Minister but actually Mighty Sagra herself.
Sagra-Selena just sat quietly in the throne, amused by the chaos below. The Abysian Bishop of Marignon approached her and beg her to intercede but she only whispered to him that the Council at this moment could not reach any viable conclusion and the Council would have to continue and the Governor elections must be postponed.
When the results of the Council was posted on the streets the following morning, everyone in the streets of Marignon were outrage. They all think that the Council was just a farce and the Abysians were never true to their word to give them autonomy. This of course were baseless accusations. It was necessary that the Council must be adjourned first before any election could be held. Nevertheless there were those who absolutely think of Abysian treachery even though all Marignon Priests insisted that the problem lies on theological views and not on treachery. This unfortunately caused much unrest on Marignon and the Abysian Bishop has to declare once again a state of martial law.
A great duel was held in Ulm, where
Mictlan and
Ermor champions would fight each other.
Pedoseion the earth king came from the south, crossing Ermor and Bavaria to reach Ulm, and Bune the ice devil followed suit. They held the fight in Ulm, and Ermor's Bune defeated Mictlan's Pedoseion. As a result, Mictlan decided to evacuate most of the lands they had conquered in the last century.
This caused enormous upheavals in Mictlan, where the population didn't understand why they would relinquish all these lands. Many believe that the Mantis has been misled by some traitors, tricked into accepting a duel in order to spare her troops and then bound by her honour to hold her word, but the decision couldn't have possibly been hers.
Kitajimans rejoiced at the decision. The population erupted and started attacking Mictlan priests. They freed the blood slaves and behaved in a harsh and hostile manner until Mictlan ships arrived and took Mictlanese armies out of the land. Shizen gave orders, asking Kitajimans to behave in an orderly way. He promised that, as soon as Mictlan would have left, Shinuyama troops would arrive in their brand new ships, and restore order to the province. Kitajimans agreed to this and acknowledge Shinuyaman rule.
Eriu and Tir na n'Og become a vassal state of Mictlan. The elected Eriu king effectively reports everything of importance to Mictlanese priests, making the kingdom a puppet-state in reality.
Most of Marverni decided to remain Mictlanese but several noble ambibates asked for independance. Mictlanese didn't intervene, and let Marverni natives settle this by themselves. This led to a short and bloody battle in which Mictlan loyalists defeated independentists.
Cyprus remains loyal to Mictlan, but most of the priests, and the population along with them, believe their goddess has been misled by some evil magic making her lose her mind for a short while.
Machaka and Kymriu provinces both became independant.
Ulm, Ermor, Slavia were given back to Ermor.
