For those who would like to see what the usual nations strategies are, there's this link which lists strategies for most nations. You may want to check the MAME nation guides you're playing. Just check pretender designs, don't go into all the details of what exact build to pick, whether it's better to pick flails over morning stars. Note I divided by 2 the magic paths so Earth 3 in the NES = Earth 5-6 in the game and dominion strength is not as important in the NES for bless nations as it is in the game.
 
If you choose to have a dormant pretender to start with, how are your scales affected (both negative and positive) a) prior to the pretender waking, and b) once they awaken?

No effect. You just get bonus points from being dormant.
When your pretender awakens, your dominion will spread faster so your scales will spread faster too but a preaching priest would have the same effect.
 
Can i bless with a priest and get the effects from the bless if my pretender starts dormant?

Basically, if i have a dormant pretender i get
1) less magic research
2) less 'hands-on' combat assistance in early battles (because pretender is sleeping and can't fight with your troops)
3) no bless effects?

Yes. It's a very usual strategy in the game.
Basically, if i have a dormant pretender i get
1) less magic research
2) less 'hands-on' combat assistance in early battles (because pretender is sleeping and can't fight with your troops)
You do get bless effect but you will have less dominion spread until your pretender awakens/breaks free.

I'm waiting for Newerwonagame to confirm whether he's still interested or not.Kyzarc won't be back till Tuesday so update should be tuesday. Apart from that, I have all I need except a few email addresses. Those who haven't sent me a mail will have to if they want to receive their stats and detailed info.
I'm starting to write the update and will upload the maps and Update zero text when Kyzarc's back. I may start uploading maps before.

Well, I'm oversimplifying things. So units will have traits in-battle but be less detailed in your stats. Old age will not kill them off. The upkeep costs of units and mages are quite high (1/3rd of building cost for standing armies and mages), which means you pay a lot to replace those who get old, die, etc. If you stop paying upkeep of standing armies/wizards/priests, they'll stay there for the next turn, but some of them will likely be old if they have to fight.

tried to video game's demo; i tried to attack a neighbouring province two times and both times got my butt handed to me.

i have no idea how to build infrastructure labs, temples etc. anyway, sort of fun, mostly just confusing.
 
I'll like to express an interest in taking the T'ien Chi'is somewhere after the first update.

That is if it's still open to newcomers after that! :D
 
You can't, Tien'chi spot has been taken by Kyzarc with his different civilization. Although you can possibly write a story about relocated Tien'chis.

And we still have like, 2 others in line before you ;)

i only had 20min to try it out so i just wanted to screw around with it a bit.
 
I won't be taking any other player yet even if people drop. Neverwonagame may not play for he thinks there's no strategic postiion left and indeed it's a bit crowded. I'm waiting to see if he's interested in starting where Ninja Dude was (Lanke aor Bandar Log).
I'll still do the update on tuesday unless he takes the location and needs more time.

Yes. You will be able to spend some gold on spying before sending orders (ask me by PM or mail). This will cost gold (usually 5 gold, maybe more if you're far away, less if you have stealthy units in the province). That's only scouting/recon. No scouts doing filthy tricks before the actual orders.

After update zero. Right now you don't even know how much gold you have. Update zero will tell you that, what kinds of neighbours you've got, if any of these seem to be organised, and that kind of stuff. So you'll know where to scout then.
EDIT: I think Immac asked the question because in FfH NES Ii you gave scouting orders and then final orders, so 2 orders sets per update. I'll just have one orders set but scouting can be handled by PMs/mails before final orders are sent.
