Dominion NES

It will start when I have everyone's pretenders done. I hope by the end of the week all is done and I can write each of you detailed info on Sunday for Update 0.
I'm browsing through my PMs to see everything I have.
One thing which could be useful is that each of you who has finished his pretender design could send me an email at ldcdomnes (at) gmail (dot) com with a subject "Pretender for Nation XXX". I may reply and ask clarifications, but it'll be easier for me to sort than the PMs. It will also be useful for me since I'll send each of you stats (detailed technologies, tech costs, available units and not public knowledge) by mail.

Sorry, no I'm not taking any more players.
I'll put a few NPC nations though, and if I manage to handle that many players or if some quit I'll try to take you (and others who expressed interest) in.

Thats cool, I just wanted to be sure you were aware of my interest.

LDi, do you know my E-mail?

Anyways, writing story soooon

I'll be gone from tomorrow to tuesday, please don't start until then.
My story is already up.
And my email is: kyzarc@gmail.com

I'm not sure. Send me one email at ldcdomnes@gmail.com so I'll be sure.
Those who know my email address, please note I made a specific email address for this game so please use that. It'll help me sort things immensely.

No problem. I'll probably write the udpate zero on sunday and send stats on monday/tuesday. I may not send all in one day, I don't know yet how long it'll take me. Update zero will have lots of info that I won't have to repeat but no events or stuff to solve. Updates one and two will give all of us a better idea of how long it takes me to make an update.

LDI... i'm not sure I'll have time to post a good story or send orders this turn. do you think we've discussed enough for you to get a general idea?

Yes, that's enough for the moment. Just send me a mail with your god's stats so I am correctly organised.
Update zero will mostly present the various nations, and most of them will remain shrouded in mistery as they are far removed from each other and communication across the world is only starting to get functional again. Each of you will get more info about your surroundings in your stat update and I don't need lots of stories for that. Next udpate is when you'll really start developping your nation. Right now, it's just a bunch of megalomaniac mages who seize power in their nations in order to become the new god.

is it too late to join?

if it isn't i'll take that one uninhabited island to the far north, or any other space free from beings.

Questions:
is necromancy allowed this early?
are there demigods? ex: god of war for certain people

Yes, and we have two others in line.

:(Dang!!!:(

why'd u have to make ur nes so awesome? can't u just kill all the npc's  :(:(:(:(

Seon and TF: Do you guys want to talk about the division of lands in the East?

Later, but not today :S

<.< You guys do realise that the point of the game is more about reigning as the supreme God, as what pretender wants to share his divine throne? Unless you guys can agree upon a Pantheon :P.

Just because we want to kill each other and destroy our livelihoods doesn't mean we can't be friends. (looks over shoulder for assassin)
That is a very good point; can we have a victory by setting up a pantheon rather than montheism? That would make alliances semi-useful.

Pssh. Friends? Who needs friends? My people have one friend each: they keep him close to hand, and are always willing to introduce their friend to your bloody heart. Everyone else within the nation is the clan, and thus family. The annual cookout is a blast!

EDIT: @nutranurse - of course I do. Alliances are for the weak, the unwise, and the evil.

Weak and pitiful as they are, Orangelex, they do bring up a good point! Setting up a pantheon would be rather interesting, though I hold that it should make the pretenders involved somewhat weaker as they have to share their influence >.> Or perhaps LDi could work out a better system?

Yes, pantheons are allowed, but you will need people to believe in you and even in a pantheon, there may be jealousies and contest. If you are not the strongest in at least one province, your people will no longer follow you and you'll be toast.
Furthermore, it's unlikely that a cold god and a fire gold will get along well. Their followers probably won't.
Last, different incompatible gods in one land may cause unrest. Typically, if you allow another temple in your lands, the second temple is more likely to lower stability than raise it and the competing dominions may not go along well.
So, yes, pantheons are allowed, and you can use diplomacy for temporary alliances. However, there will be some unrest caused by the cohabitation of different religions, which will slightly offset the strength of an alliance. It will remain more interesting to have allies to gang up on others and long-term if you manage to divide roles between your gods, you may end up with a working polytheism. Most believers would see this as a temporary solution, though, as they believe most in one god.

I've updated some information on the first page in the rules section, precising scales range from 1 to 3, added info on stealth and put some cost information ion the last reserved post.
