Happy Crispin and Crispinian all!

And always remember how badly the French lost.

Real talk. If you don't answer other players PMs and you're in a game, do everyone a favor and drop out. I'm tired of this attitude prevalent in IOT that merely joining a game should be the extent of your participation in that game. Joining a game and not doing anything is actually worse than not joining because youre wasting everybody's time.

If you join a game and people need to contact you and you can't answer them, either let them know youre busy or drop out instead of screwing them up and forcing them into a bind with regards to their orders and deadlines.

Even a quick "busy" response would be acceptable. I mean, it would be provided you're not the kind of person spending 40 hours a week on Discord of course, people.

This thread is now dedicated to the discussion of whether we should all post lock times in GMT.

Real Answer: I think the smarter thing to do is specify what timezone you are using for orders lock. People can then use the converter to their own timezone.

Funpost Answer: Everyone should use the 4-day Timecube to determine orders lock.

On one hand, yeah people could use a converter and isn't a big deal at all. On the other hand, if times are in GMT you don't really need to convert because you just need to know how far you are from GMT.

For example, my time zone is five hours behind so I should probably just say "it locks at 5:00PM Eastern so I'll say 10:00PM GMT" and then a player in so-and-so timezone can just say "my time zone is three hours ahead of GMT so just add 3".

Like I said, really minor thing though.

GMT can get really confusing the further away you are from it. I find its just easier to use a converter in almost every situation.

Personally I use EST whenever I post deadlines in games that I run. I'm OK with people using their native timezones; I actually kind of expect the moderator to use their own time. It was a struggle to get adjusted to Ninja using australian time, since his days are different from my days, but I managed to learn to internalize that when he says Monday, he really means Sunday, etc.

What I'm not OK with, is when people use made-up timezones that no one but computer scientists use. I am never joining a game that a mod uses UTC on ever again. That was just a pain because it doesn't even line up to time in the country it was invented in.
