I see I am being talked about...

Marmot is actually a legit project, by the way. It's just going take a little while because we are all very busy bees.

Oh, and the Original Triumvirate is TK, Thorvald and Taniciusfox. NedimNapoleon and Sonereal are part of the Second Wave, together making up the Pentarchy.

I agree. Tani is like capitalism: he'll work all right, but keep him on a tight lead or he'll destroy your society.

Burning down the forest allows new seeds to take root. :p

Yeah, from Monsanto.

 oh my celestia :rotfl:

I myself am proud to have sat on both Triumvirates, having bore witness to the anarchy of the early games, the increasing, insane complexity of the modern ones, and the eventual revolt against complexity that seems to be steadily occurring now.

The benefits/drawbacks of having so much free time!

I assume that this isn't going to have all the joke features? Like we won't be forced to play as the Byzantine Empire of a New York apartment block will I? ;)

I complained about too much complexity before it was cool. :smug:

The IOTs out right now aren't that complex.

That depends; are you our resident Byzantine fanboy?

Some were enormously bureaucratic, though. I think Sons of Mars I and MP2 are the most complex games I've overseen, though the Chaos Energy system of Mobius Total Chaos also could get ludicrous.

I suppose it was all a result of the GMing base basically getting high on Excel, though. Originally we had to do everything by hand. Then Excel/OpenOffice became widespread (I forget who came up with the idea to use the spreadsheets but they were genius), and naturally games enormously complexified. Similar to how settling down and developing a writing system allows for huge complexity in one's legal system. :p

Now I think the enthusiasm's worn off for the most part though and it seems the current goal is to make more fun with less work. The quest for the next great IOT begins!

Or IOTNES, given my defection.

That might've been me in that short time I took over that game with the natural resources and the random continent in the Pacific.

Oh yeah I remember that one. That was weird.

Writing systems predate legal systems (and a hell a lot of other systems, for that matter).

Nitpicking. Not only does it miss the point of the analogy, but furthermore, I mean that developing writing allows a complex code of laws and government and etc.

Anyway... :p

Well until someone contests it I guess the crown's yours, my friend!
