Planned Features:
New Animal Spawn system: Done
Animals will spawn in each city, modified by the cities population. It is an initial chance of 4%, reduced by .4% for each population point over 1, meaning a city with pop 11 will not spawn any animals. This keeps them to your borders where there are less people, and fits mechanically as it's a built in spawn control.
Initially, all that will spawn are Wolves. As you gain new techs, you'll be able to build a few National Wonders, upon completion of which new animals will be allowed to spawn.
Kindred Spirits: Done.
I'd like to add a Kindred Spirit promotion to each unit built in a city with one of these wonders. Right now, I have:
All promotions now start with a minor effect, that allows you to gain another promotion as the unit levels. I'm not sure about any of the prereqs, but I like the effects. Bear in mind, these promotions will all be new, aside from maybe Courage and Magic Immune... This means your warrior with Bear Kindred, Sign of the Bear, whatever I call it, will have the effects of March, and still be able to take March on top of that.
- Bear - March - Strong (Requires Combat 4) - - - Done.
- Wolf - 2 First Strikes - 1 Movement (Requires Drill 3) - - - Done. Mark of the Wolf also includes a 10% chance to do 5% damage to an attacking unit.
- Lion - Courage - Mesmerize Animal (Requires Level 5) - - - Done.
- Griffin - Extra Sight - Move Impassable (Requires Combat 2/Drill 2) - - - Done.
- Stag - Magic Resistance/Double movement in Forest - Magic Immune (Requires Combat 5) - - - Done.
- Mammoth - 20% more xp from combat - Can Ride Mammoths (Requires Level 4) - - - Done.
Not sure about the prereqs for the second Griffin promotion...
The second Lion promotion will allow the Doviello to 'capture' Tigers and Gorillas.
The second Stag promotion has a high prereq because it includes immunity to all diseases.
The second Mammoth promotion will allow the unit to become a Mammoth Rider when on the same tile as a mammoth, requiring the sacrifice of the Mammoth. This will of course include carrying all previous promotions over to the new unit.
Wild Animals:
Wild animals gain strength over time. This stops as soon as the animal is controlled by a different civilization, which is fine for most civilizations, but I don't think it really fits for the Doviello.
As the strength increases are handled in the DLL but are based on the unit's age, I'm going to add a series of effect promotions that will increase the strength of a Doviello animal at the same rate the wild ones improve. Basically like the Giantkin promotions, but invisible with the +
rolled directly into the unitstats.
In addition to this, most animals will have a more powerful version later in the tech tree.
- Wolf - Wolf Pack or Hyena
- Lion - Sabertooth Going to try and make art for this... Just gotta add teeth to a lion graphic.
- Griffin - Hippogriff I do not have art for this one, it'll be name only.
- Stag - ? All I've got is a Panda.

- Mammoth - None
Worldspell: Done
The current Doviello worldspell shows their affinity for animals quite well, but I think the new Animal spawning fits much better, and the two combined are too powerful. The version I'm going with was suggested by Xienwolf, and fits nicely.
Currently I'm calling it 'Call of the Wild'.
- Spawns a new animal for each animal unit you control, and the new unit has a 20% chance to gain any promotion the parent unit possesses.
The Baron may get a second spell, or a replacement spell. Not decided yet.
- Converts your Recon units to Ravenous Werewolves. Not sure if it should be permanent or not yet.
Civic: Done. Went with 'Council of the Wilds'. Grants Heroic Strength 1 to all animal units, and doubles the spawn rate.
I'd like to add a new Membership civic for the Doviello at either Feral Bond or Animal Mastery. The civic will double animal spawn rate, and start them with Heroic Strength/Defense 1, allowing them to gain the bonus they'd get from your worldspell/Nature's Revolt ritual. I'm placing it in the Membership category so that adopting it will block both the Undercouncil and Overcouncil.
Need a name for this as well... You have no idea how tempted I am to call it PETA.
