Dr.NES - The D.O.O.M. Project

I will follow whoever leads, I just want to see some action. I have caught myself in the process of aiming my gun in the direction of Andrew.

Ruben was leaning against the rail of the riverboat, watching the riverbank go by, when the squad started talking about who would lead them. A few names were mentioned - men he wouldn't mind following, but he didn't speak up in favor of them. He preferred to hear what everyone had to say first.

When his own name was mentioned, he didn't acknowledge it. As other voices spoke up in favor, he walked over to Captain Valentine and quietly took the cargo manifest from the top of a nearby crate. Looking over it, and making a few notes, he finally turned to the squad and spoke.

"Alright, men, I'll lead. Niki, you're second in command. If I go down, you get us out of here.

"I've looked over our equipment and profiles. We need to be clear on what each man's role is. Look these over, and if I missed anyone, let me know."

Marcus: Sharpshooter
Sarge: Machine Gunner
Terni: Rifleman
Magus: Scientist
Niki: Medic
Andy: Demolitions
Nigel: Assault
Ruben: Squad Leader
Louis: Packmule

Marcus chuckled a little, covering his mouth. Pack Mule. As he chuckled he looked over at Louis, realising the man was clearly much stronger than him. His smirk disapeared and he tried to look as serious as possible.

Weapons cleaned and oiled, with ammo laying nearby Sarge doubled checked his supplies ignoring the scenery of the river bank passing by. His new M4A1 stood next to the rail and grabbed the weapon and peered through the scope at what appeared to be a hairy pig, satisfied that it worked he put the weapon on safety and laid it down next to the remaining ammo for that weapon. He then grabbed his M66 and effortlessly picked it up and adjusted the weight and finding the best carrying position for him. Satisfied he laid it down and grabbed the crates that held the bullets for the machine gun. He doesn't trust others with his supplies and would rather carry his own, after all when it came to combat he would have other things to do.

Satisfied that he had everything in order, Sarge nodded in the direction of Ruben to acknowledge that his part of the list was good then walked towards the bow and stared straight ahead at the mighty river, he noticed some of the team were smoking but Sarge never smoked, his father always told him that smoking is the devils plaything. And he was raised in a god fearing family. So instead he prays constantly to God and asks him to watch over his sweetheart back home. After his moment alone he headed towards the cooler to grab a cool bottle of water and sat down next to his weapons and placed his earphones over his ears and nodded away to the music, happy that they would finally leave on a mission.

Terni bit his lip, however, he knows that his expertise is only just less than Thomas's. He quickly but away the attachments for the XM10(!) and finished twiddling with the adjustments.

He prepared to join the fight.

Niki was surprised to hear that Ruben had chosen him as the second in command. He didn't have much experience in leadership, but he promised to do his best in the task that seemed to have been entrusted to him.

He checked his carbine and his SMG to make sure that the clips were on its place, made sure that his medpacks were not going to get loose if he had to run, and sat down next to Terni. They had to make the first plans for the scouting of the zone.

Andrew was sitting on the boat, checking his shotgun. 'A very good Italian model, but needs more firepower', he thought.
"Let's add a little extra boom to this baby", he said. Andrew was skilled at filling up bullets with more explosive powders, although he needed unexpended shells. So he reequipped the shotgun with more powerful ammo. The only downside to this would be that his shotgun might overheat over a period of rapid fire.
"Now, I'm gonna see what these little badboys can do. Heh Heh," said Andrew as he readjusted his custom made C4 and grenades. "One of these light grenades can blow this damned boat into little pieces, so don't screw around with me right now."

Terni leaned closer to Niki.

"So scouting, I think that we should have a main group flanked by scouting groups that contain at least 1 medic and 1 flaregun. However, it is your call."

He quickly snapped on the sniper slope, twilled the lenghtener and twisted the stock on in 10 seconds, then quickly aimed at a passing nest and fired a blank. Satisfied with this training the fixed it back into the module position and took the blanks out.

(I have a few free blanks. :) for testing :))

Reginald Fitzgibbon was born to loyalist parents in Belleville, Ontario in 1969. His father and uncles enlisted separately during the Second World War against their Great War veteran father's wishes. His eldest uncle, James, died on the beaches of Dieppe. His youngest uncle, Larry, became an engineer who participated in the liberation of Holland and France. His Father had the most distinguished record. Jack Fitzgibbon fought in Italy where he won several medals before being wounded at Ortona. He returned to the war and remained in the military until he received a crippling wound at Kapyong during he Korean War.

Reg grew surrounded by stories of war, remembered fondly by his father and uncle. But his grandfather's tales of horror from the battlefields of Ypres and Passchendaele convinced him to stay out of the military until later in life than his father.

He made it through high school on the honour roll and managed to secure a spot at Queen's University in Fall of 1987. He studied history and political science for three years. Reggie hated the school for it's arrogance and several professor's commitment to learning. Rather than finish his honour's year, Reg graduated after three years. He was rejected by several urban planning faculties and sank into depression. He returned home in 1991 and was soon convinced by his father to join the Canadian Forces.

Reg was accepted into the Princess Patricia's Light Infantry and saw his first action in Yugoslavia in 1993. Reg distinguished himself during the Medak pocket. His excellent service resulted in his being recommended to JTF-2 in 1997.

He served with the elite unit for several years in Iraq, Afghanistan, Haiti, and other, less public, operations. Over the course of his career he became disillusioned with the military. It was neither the glorious life his father had told him nor was it the terrible experience of his grandfather. It was something in between, with no clear right or wrong. Reg, a straightforward, uncomplicated man couldn't take the uncertainty and greyness. He left the forces in late 2004 to pursue a contract with Blackwater Worldwide.

He had entered the forces as a hopeful, black or white thinking, right-wing idealist. He emerged a confused, conflicted, self-interested and sometimes bitter man.

He fought in Iraq for Blackwater until December 2007. He attempted to settle down in his hometown. Life was difficult. Work was scarce in Belleville even for someone with applicable skills. The recession, several short-lived, rocky relationships, a falling out with his father, and an unhappy stint in loss-prevention convinced Reg to leave again. Beginning in 2009 he served with a variety of companies in the private military field including Aegis Defense Services, ArmorGroup, Blackwater Worldwide (renamed Xe) and others acting in combat roles and security training. He joined DOOM in June 2013. The goal: to add enough cash to his substantial savings to allow him to buy a house in a new town, get a new degree, and begin a new life.

Reg is easily one of the most experienced mercs in the squad. His skill with his weaponry is nearly unparalleled in the squad. His weapons alone (listed as 'lost' after his final contract) make him a valuable addition to the squad. He is a versatile soldier, though he is slowing down and knows it. He is content to let others do the leading for now until he gains rapport with his new comrades.

To Reg, this is the 'one big score' he dreams about. If all the objectives are completed, he will have just enough cash to settle down. Of course, he is no idiot. If his survival means an extra year or two of work, he is willing to sacrifice. After all, money is of little use to the deceased.

His low willpower score doesn't represent a lack of mental fortitude, merely an unwillingness to die for a cause he doesn't believe in or men he doesn't know.

Vicente was a little pissed. No only was he not on the roster, but seemingly ignored by all his comrades...which was odd since he had known and befriended some of these men in the time he spent in the unit...bah, they would realize his being there sooner or later. He then whipped out his Glock 18, and prepared for a firefight. That little baby packed the strength of an SMG into the shell of a pistol...and he just loved it. He slipped in the 33 round magazine, commonly used by the units he fought with back in Mexico, and slipped the detachable stock out of his bag. He attached the stock, and aimed his weapon off the boat. He checked for the extra magazines, and they were just where they should be, easily accessible. He had already checked his FX-05 before, and it was also ready...but the Glock would be much easier to use in close combat on boats...and would be easier to use if he needed to roll into the water. Either way, El Jaguar could feel something bad was going to happen soon, and if it did, he would certainly live up to his nickname.

Just in time, actually.

If anyone has any background information they'd like to post before I have the update, do so now. I'm going to add Fulton to it, so you have a little time.

I apologize about the stats, I copied them to a seperate document to save them and overwrote a few of them. I had thought that it was fine, but now everything is in order.

I have a paper to write today, so I won't have time to complete my background today.

Awesome. Also, just saw that the date was significantly later that present day. I am now going to edit my back story accordingly.
