Dr.NES - The D.O.O.M. Project

Miguell, once fixed up, is capable of finishing the mission with a pistol. The shotgun I think has too much recoil for extended use, though in emergencies I'm sure he can wield it, with some effect.

@Iggy: It would *technically* be unrealistic, but I honestly don't want to turn people away that wish to participate. Sure you can join! If anyone objects, let me know :)

OOC: Nope. Let's have Iggy. We could say D.O.O.M sent him in to compensate for Miguel's injuries without extracting Miguel as is still able to complete the mission.

Judging by stats and equipment choices I would say a marksman.

And we certainly need one of those. A good old, bolt action rifle in the group would help. So far, we only have assault rifles and carbines that can be used for longer distance shooting. This will allow the group to more efficiently "reach out and touch someone".

"Ruben, Sarge, or who ever is listening: Nigel found somethin' in the road past the village. He says it isn't natural, is out of place, and is not moving. I agree with him that we should proceed with caution. He's also suggested that we dig in here. I'll report any other news."

Marcus finished up his breakfast.

"So Nigel, you're going up another tree? Are you sure you don't want me to go up? I'm the one with the sniper rifle."

Nestor Sullivan

Born: 1983, Kulgera, Australia

A lifetime survivalist and hunter, Nestor O'Sullivan's talents led him through a series of odd jobs, leading to his employment at D.O.O.M. He has participated in several dozen missions over the last several years, although this is his first with this particular group.

Standing at 188 centimetres, his tall and gangly figure belies his smooth aim and surprising strength. His hair and sideburns are short, sandy brown and typically unkempt. His almost gaunt face could give the impression that he is in poor health, but such an interpretation would soon prove to be badly mistaken. His eyes are bright green and constantly shifting- one would suspect a nervous disorder if one did not see their deadly focus once he has found a target.

When not on the job, he often engages in whittling, alcoholism, and holding a simmering dislike of his given name.

OOC: So, what's the explanation for how we have a new guy? Should we assume he's been here with the group, and just hasn't been talking? Temporarily mute from illness? Brought in as a replacement somehow? I'd like to come up with a non-handwaved story, just to maintain realism.

OOC: TO cover for Ruben in case he doesn't report in by the update.

*mute crackling of radio* Roger that, stay put and do not attempt to get closer. The team is moving to your position now, with heavy firepower we should be able to subdue whatever it is. If you have a sniper, have him climb a tree and see if he can figure out what it is. But do not fire unless threatened.

Once up there I want him to stay up there to cover the arrival of the team, if the creature begins moving towards the team in a threatening motion, shoot to kill. Otherwise stay up until the ground team moves into position to cover the creature and figure out what it is. Please acknowledge.

OOC: Or he was inserted on an advance scouting mission but was unable to get far due to problems in the local area. Or he is that strange figure that Marcus? (is it marcus that climbed the tree?) saw and he was waiting for the main team to arrive?

Just a thought. ;)

Actually, both of those work pretty well. germanicus' suggestions particularly so, because they would both emphasize my 'newness' to the group. Since it seems that there are more things going on than we are aware of, it seems reasonable that there could be another team here, or that I am a survivor of a previous, less fortunate group.

Or the drop bears got him! Polar Bears don't talk and most assuredly do not drink Rum they drink Vodka! [Cryptic remarks :p]

OOC:The thing Nigel saw isn't moving and isn't really natural, so I doubt it could be a new team mate. You could assume that there are other guys in our group that are unnamed, and we give them stats and names as more people join.

IC: "Roger that Sargemeister."

"Yo Nigel, Sarge told me to go up the tree and check out whatever it is with a sniper rifle until the rest of the team gets back. Could you help me up the tree so I can check it out? You can keep watch on the ground."

{OOC: I'm here, but it looks like everything is under control, so I'll just OOC post to say that I don't mind retconning Iggy's character in without any explanation. This seems to be a trial run for the NES anyway, so the important part is testing the actual gameplay.}
