Police quells Protests against Nazi Rally

Water canon and tear gas against antifascists.
Hundreds of neo-nazis in Dresden and Leipzig.

Dresden - A huge gathering of extremist rightist from all over europe has lead to street fights between police and counter-protesters in Dresden.
Police used water cannons and batons against thousands of protestors who tried to reach the place of the nazi demonstration.
From time to time barricades were errected and set on fire.

According to officials there were between 600 and 700 extremist rightist at the city train station alone and couldnt get any further from there due to the blockades.
They would have used the 66th anniversary of the Dresden bombings as reason to hold three mass rallies throughout the city.

Alliance spokesman: Escalation was not started by protestors

Thousands of peaceful citizens took part in the protest against the nazi rally.
A spokesman of the "alliance nazi-free dresden" said it was the target to prevent the rightist rallies and that the escalation of violence had not been started by the protestors.
Police Union on the other hand spoke of an "explosion of violoence by extremist leftist thugs. [perpetrators of violence]"
In the afternoon a police spokesman called the situation "still tense". Streets would have been blockaded and barricades set on fire.

While police used water cannons against the anti-fascists, dozens of neo-nazis undisturbedly attacked a cultural center in the city district of Löbtau with stones and poles and threatened the residents with chants like "we'll get the last one of you".

In the evening of the 13th of february 1945, british bombers had attacked Dresden. American squadrons had followed during the days after.
Tens of thousands of people fell victim to the aerial attacks, the inner city was completely destroyed.

So, what do you think?
Just another day in germany?

should police protect neo nazi rallies?
why do they always escalate clashes with counter-protestors on such occasions?
do you think the neo-nazis attacking the cultural center with no police in sight while antifascists get the tear gas treatment is typical or was a one off event and mistake?

should the nazi rally have been allowed in the first place?

I find it amazing that they weren't able to comemerate their dead ancestors. Everyone should have the right to demonstrate and it is the police job to secure that right. Unfortunately left wing extremists don't like freedom of speach.

The police was far from being supporters of the remembrence march as they stopped participants from going into the city and often used a lot of force to do so.

People who attack demonstrations should be charged with rioting and threatning people's freedom of speach.

I have been to many similar rallies and I often see the police stand passive as communists throw rocks at peacefull protestors and only react when the protestors defend themselves.

I blame the courts.
They allowed three neonazi marchs and ordered the police to separate the neonazis from the counter-demonstrators (about 20000 people). That was obviously too difficult for the police.
The Nazis were successfully blocked by counterdemonstrators from marching. Well done, Dresden.

So people should be banned from marching if you can get 10-20 000 people to attack them?

The people commemerating their dead ancestors where stopped by the police not by communists.

this is not what happened. can you explain to me why police took no action while the cultural center was attacked by a group of neo-nazis?

also, man up, live up to your ideology and stop hiding behind a freedom of speech you wouldnt give a flying fart about when in power.

Probably because the police where incompetent or had their hands full with communists.

I hate communists. If me and some friends start burning things every time communists demonstrate should commies be banned?

who's talking about communists?
nobody but you, that's who.

i was telling you, a self proclaimed nationalsocialist, to stop hiding behind the phrase "freedom of speech", as you wouldnt give a damn about it when in power.
you see that's kind of hypocritical.
i dont see how you hating communists and hypothetically burning things has anything to do with this.

Because it is mainly left wing extremists smashing the city and stopping what would otherwise be a peacefull protest.

If memory marches should be stopped if a few thousand people go bezerk and smash the city does that mean that the demonstration has to be stopped?

I support freedom of speach to the absurd.

Unfortunately, you can't forbid Nazi demonstrations by law. Laws are flawed. Sometimes things are legal, but immoral and sometimes things are illegal, but moral. Like stopping a Nazi demonstration by civil disobedience.

what are you babbling about?
left wing extremists?

this is about a bunch of nazis and you whining something about freedom of speech because people wont accept them holding rallies.
so, now, tell me, why do a bunch of nazis hide behind "freedom of speech"?
stop hiding behind the liberal democracy you so despise, stop letting yourselves be protected by its police you so despise.

Freedom of speach is far from being only a part of liberal democracy. Typical liberals saying that only those who accept liberalism are allowed to speak. We support freedom of speach.

We don't like the police at our demonstrations. We don't want them their. They stop our demonstrations, harass us and protect communists who attack us.

If the police weren't there the communists would never show up. Hippy left wing people only like fighting if the police can protect them. Personally I have never seen antifa show up when there were no police around.

A heavily interventionist police state, Al? It sounds like you already have your wish.
Nope I don't like the police or state, I am a tribalist not state nationalist.

I think the police should intervene if demonstrations are attacked by violent freedom of speach haters but they shouldn't stop the demonstrations or harass the peacefull demonstrators. The trouble makers are the police's problem not the demonstrators.

cowardice.
why not fight it out?

People go to Dresden to remember dead family. Many of the ones who go have relatives who where murdered there. People want to do this peacefully.

If people think rioting is fun then I have no problem with it as long as everyone envolved is fine with it. The communists should stop harassing people for their opinions and join a gang of football huligans.
