Dueling Religious Billboards

I really don't want to get into a semantic discussion here, but if I ask you if you believe in god, and your answer is "no" you're an atheist no matter how sure you are.
Given how extensive and divergent agnosticism actually is:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agnosticism

Agnostic atheism
Agnostic atheists are atheistic because they do not have belief in the existence of any deity, and agnostic because they do not claim to know that a deity does not exist.[15]

Agnostic theism
The view of those who do not claim to know of the existence of any deity, but still believe in such an existence.[15]

Apathetic or Pragmatic agnosticism
The view that there is no proof of either the existence or nonexistence of any deity, but since any deity that may exist appears unconcerned for the universe or the welfare of its inhabitants, the question is largely academic.[citation needed][16]

Ignosticism
The view that a coherent definition of a deity must be put forward before the question of the existence of a deity can be meaningfully discussed. If the chosen definition is not coherent, the ignostic holds the noncognitivist view that the existence of a deity is meaningless or empirically untestable.[17] A.J. Ayer, Theodore Drange, and other philosophers see both atheism and agnosticism as incompatible with ignosticism on the grounds that atheism and agnosticism accept "a deity exists" as a meaningful proposition which can be argued for or against. An ignostic cannot even say whether he/she is a theist or a nontheist until a sufficient definition of theism is put forth.[18][not in citation given]

Strong agnosticism (also called "hard," "closed," "strict," or "permanent agnosticism")
The view that the question of the existence or nonexistence of a deity or deities and the nature of ultimate reality is unknowable by reason of our natural inability to verify any experience with anything but another subjective experience. A strong agnostic would say, "I cannot know whether a deity exists or not, and neither can you."

Weak agnosticism (also called "soft," "open," "empirical," or "temporal agnosticism")
The view that the existence or nonexistence of any deities is currently unknown but is not necessarily unknowable, therefore one will withhold judgment until/if any evidence is available. A weak agnostic would say, "I don't know whether any deities exist or not, but maybe one day when there is evidence we can find something out."
I would contend the specifics mentioned by Traitorfish could conceivable fit all but one, or perhaps two, of those groups.

It's really not an question of whether you believe in a god. It is a matter of how strongly you believe a god can't possibly exist.

I'm sure there another billboard from this series that says, "science flies us to the moon, religion flies us into buildings."

By implication you did, since Christianity by default is a proselyting religion and that does mean that we are meant to be telling others about Christ.

Now this is a proper duel.

These two highlight the difference between good and bad billboards. The first is offensive, provocative and confronting. Whether you agree with or not, you should probably be able to see that it isn't really going to be effective, for those reasons. The second one is not offensive (although you could draw a reasonably offensive conclusion from the last line) or particularly provocative and confronting. In fact, it attempts to highlight that atheists and theists are not too different. This is far more likely to be an effective billboard, because it's not really going to piss people off.

Well, neither of them OFFENDS me, but the first one makes me laugh at their idiocy, and the second one is as legitimate as an atheist poster can get. Number one, you can never be POSITIVE of a negative, so while I strongly disagree with it, that there is probably no God is a conclusion you can come to logically, but even if that were true, it doesn't mean all forms of religion are bad from society.

Me: Hey Carl (the dragon), Domination3000 said he's positive you don't exist.

Carl: Doesn't he know you can't be positive of a negative.

Me: Well he did say that... But he said I can't be positive that a god doesn't exist.

Carl: So how can he be positive I don't exist?

Me: Apparently it's a different issue completely.

Carl: Oh, that explains everything. Bye now.

Me: Who said that? Is there someone in my garage?

Wait, are you saying you can know for 100% certainty that no God exists?
I know for 100% certainty that many gods exist, including the one you capitalize. But I'm positive it's pointless trying to prove it to anyone.

I'm positive that it's not warm outside. :)
