"In saying this, I promise you I am quite free of all racial hatred."

-Adolf Hitler

Am I the only one to see a major Monty Python-esque quality to it?

Nah. That's typical Hitler speak.

He was just one duplicitous guy, yer know. I don't think he knew what he meant himself a lot of the time.

I also think he was more of a comedian than he's usually given credit for.

"Put simply, as the president’s political rhetoric drove the national dialogue and shaped public opinion, the IRS received and responded to the political stimuli."

-House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform in their report 'Pressure from the Left Led the IRS and DOJ to Restrict Freedom of Speech'

"Whether or not you feel compelled to follow a particular lifestyle or not, you have the ability to decide not to do that. I may have the genetic coding that I'm inclined to be an alcoholic, but I have the desire not to do that, and I look at the homosexual issue the same way."
—

Texas Gov. Rick Perry

Maybe. But they do speculate that homosexuality could have something to do with genetics. If women with homosexual brothers are more successful at raising children (because of the caring nature of homosexual uncles), then there would be an evolutionary factor promoting the incidence of homosexuality in a population.

(I'm not sure I've expressed that quite right but...meh!)

But you're right that they haven't isolated a homosexual gene. Yet. It's highly doubtful that there is one. More likely such behaviour could be influenced (not absolutely caused, mind) by a whole cluster of genes. Like a whole lot of other behaviours. Including, for example, (and you'll love this) psychopathy and (you'll not love this) religiosity.

"I just want to say that i have no relation to Mr. Cohen and i agree entirely with my country's decision to sue that jew" B.S.Cohen, in character as Borat..

Well, ok, it is a bit funny, but really it takes it too far to ridicule a country for a few cheap laughs :\

Isn't what all Americans do? Like, they ridicule their country by being stupid on purpose? It's one giant Monty Python skit for the last 20 years?

If we go on indefinitely experimenting with nuclear weapons, manufacturing them and stockpiling them, boasting of their potentialities and keeping at constant readiness, sooner or later a situation will arise, sometime, somewhere, where one will go off.

Lord Hailsham, Minister of Science, August 1960

Why is this a stupid quote? Sure, it's stupid in hindsight, but consdering that 2 years after the quote was said, the world got away very, very close from a nuclear catastrophe.

lol. Well, I thought the same. But then, it hasn't happened. Yet.

And besides the not dumb and stupid quotes thread isn't in sight at the moment.

(I stumbled on it just now, and thought it interesting, that's all.)

"Rarely has a president been so wrong about so much at the expense of so many."
-- Dick and Liz Cheney on Obama, June 18, 2014

"Once you got to Iraq and took it over, and took down Saddam Hussein's government, then what are you going to put in its place? If you take down the central government of Iraq you can easily end up seeing pieces of Iraq fly off. It's a quagmire if you go that far and try to take over Iraq."
-- Dick Cheney, April 15, 1994

"We will, in fact, be greeted as liberators."
-- Dick Cheney, March 16, 2003

"When I think civil war, I think Antietam, Gettysburg. I don't think we're there yet."
-- Dick Cheney, October 25, 2006

"So?"
-- Dick Cheney, when informed by a reporter that two-thirds of Americans do not think the Iraq war was worth the cost, March 19, 2008

"If there is one thing this country does not need, it is that we should be taking advice from Dick Cheney on wars."
-- Sen. Harry Reid

I like how you ordered those.

Why is this stupid?
I mean...you can see it right now.
It's sure not the best reasoning, but it's also not a terrible one.
Okay, it's definitely hypocritical (in retrospect), but not sure why it's dumb.

In and of itself, maybe not. But put it in context with the others. Cheney knew he was the architect of a fiasco, and yet he did it anyways.

^A parade of creeps. Does it even matter they are of 'different' parties? :\

Uh, yeah, I think so. One is a party leader being terrible, the other is a different party's leader saying the terrible guy is terrible. Definitely not on the same footing.
