Dumb and Stupid Quotes Thread: Idiotic Source and Context are Key.

"I promise you: No American whose great-grandfather was born here is watching soccer."
—

Ann Coulter

Not sure if you can count those overheard personally, but here's a doozy from my aunt: "Is there such a thing as a solitaire MMO?"

In that case, a friend of mine once said about the changing clocks in March and September: "Why do we have to change the clocks twice a year? Surely once would be enough".

(I was dumbstruck.)

She can't really be that bonkers.

Can she?

It must be an act.

Mustn't it?

Judging by that whole article, it has to be an act. I mean she has to be trolling.

Football = communism/anti-individualism? Where the hell do you get that?

From the same article,

"Soccer is like the metric system, which liberals also adore because it's European. Naturally, the metric system emerged from the French Revolution, during the brief intervals when they weren't committing mass murder by guillotine."

So if she isn't trolling, she may want to consider adjusting her medication.

Isn't decapitation a European, and thus, a liberal and un-American mode of execution?

I thought the whole point of Ann Coulter's existence was trying to troll 24/7

Although she is right, frig soccer, it was great trying to watch USA/Germany and watch Germany kick the ball around for +2 minutes on its own side of the field. Baseball is slow and boring sometimes but god damn.

Great minds don't judge others for using hashtags
Great minds don't believe in the label of great minds so in their greatness don't mind to not be counted as great minds :smug:

Don't take it personal Cheezy, I just have a relentless revulsion for hashtags. To see them used in the context of great minds was more than I could take.

Coulter comes from a very privileged background. Kind of like a minor aristocrat. And in the best tradition of minor aristocrats, the protection of their own positions is what she believes to be the fundamental goal of society. So anything which threatens her, inherited, position in society she sees as a threat to society itself. So a lot of it, she really is that much of a nutjob. But there's a lot of act to it as well. People like her, Limbaugh, others of that group, have discovered that radical extremism pays very, very well.

Didn't the metric system emerge then? I thought it did.

edit: Well, kind of.
