Will Civilization III: Conquests include multiplayer support?
Yes! Civilization III: Conquests will include enhanced multiplayer support!"

Don't you just hate it when they give you small bits of info????
  hear is cool!:)

In view of some of the disappointing features of CivIII as originally released and PTW, some of the above cynicism may be justified.

But one thing about Conquests that looks intriguing, and hasn't really been mentioned above, are these scenarios. Even the name of the expansion suggests that these are going to be THE major feature of C3C, just as multiplayer was of PTW. And I can't see how these scenarios will be that good unless there's at least some measure of support for... EVENTS! Well, I'm convinced. I await disappointment...

Mayans
Hittites
Sumerians

Seems to me that they're adding ancient civs and Meso-American civs. Hopefully there will be some Oceanic and Southeastern Asian civs because there isn't any of those. The Thai would be good. So would the Incans.

Edit: Since it's known as Conquest's the Portuguese will make an appearance as well.

Fan scenarios

Any chance they could get DYP into the mod?

:D

Those who point fingers at Atari for the problems and say its not firaxis' fault forget one thing. It's Firaxis' fault for getting into this mess in the first place. They signed the contracts and there is a wealth of history about patches and Mac ports and all the things that can happen that need to be taken care of. Also, they made the original product and it came out buggy. Atari and the porters who did the Mac version weren't prepared for that. Firaxis did their own job on their own software and passed the buck and now Atari is saying "damnit I need to waste all this money issuing patches well we are gonna drag our feet because we can't afford it!"

The mac port is even worse because we don't have PTW and we don't even have patch parity. Brad Oliver is currently working on the 1.29 patch for mac IN HIS SPARE TIME, and thats because Firaxis had nothing in the contract for the port to pay the mac shop for patches. The reason why we have no patch parity is because Firaxis isn't paying jack for the mac patches.

It is a low down mess.

Oh and I wouldn't mind all the damn patches in diablo 2 if they were about making sure there was proper balance instead of revamping the game all the time. They issue a patch and completely change the way the game is played and it pisses everyone off cuz there old characters are obsolete. And then instead of simple fixing old problems they redefine the game and end up with new problems.... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I quit that game over a year ago.

This is from the Conquest Features:

Do you have what it takes to lead a civilization to greatness? Or, will your nation be conquered by some greater power? You decide.

Yea right! It is not like the AI will ever destroy my empire. Hey, it never has.........until fall.

I think the Conquest AI is going to be more flexible than before.:)
And I also think that we (humans) would not like that!

some other stuff...

It seems like they're just using a civ-editor (Civ3Xedit) to make all the stuff in the expansion:

"Civilizations – Eight new powerful civilizations from the innovative Sumerians to the mystical Mayans. "
Blah! I BET that someone will end-up making those civs (and r probaly playing the PTW civs w/o buying it)

"...Sumerian Enkidu Warriors to quickly gain military dominance"
So you're just saying Aztez's UU, but with different graphics, rite?

"Resources – Fight for control over Tobacco, Jade & Exotic Birds"
Like with the Civs, some expert Civ Editor User can probaly make Tobacco, Jade, Birds, or even CATS, DOGS, FISH (lol)

Wait a minute! So someone can just use the Civ-Editor and make those AND SELL IT FOR 40+ BUCKS ?!?!?!

I would love to do that :)

Your right. It is unbhelievable. Im not enthusiastic either nor can I understand why other people are enthusiastic.

Seems like they are making scenarios for each of the Civs (did anyone play the default scenarios for SMAC? Seems like they'll be like that. Babylon, Hittite, and Sumer fighting to the death ... Incas, Mayans, and Aztecs sacrificing each other to the gods)

But I'll wait for more info.

civrules, don't get your hopes up :p

And for people who wondered if we need PTW to play Conquests, we don’t need PTW! Why did we ever think we would need PTW??

mm..those screenshots looks exactly like the ones for play the world....oh..im sorry..those are some other units...these are NEW.....

oh...enhanced multiplayer? does that mean we can actually use it without crashing now?

the only thing that was useful in ptw was teh airfields...and i still think that should have been in a freaking patch and not a pack...

Maybe if I had PTW my hopes would not be as high for the new game!
Don’t think that I am so excited! I am not that excited because I know that Conquests is going to have flaws like any new game.
;)

Woah. Just posted the same link below.

Anyway, you'll note the screenshots show us that Sumerians, Incans, Mayans, and horror of horrors! Hittites are all in the game. Two leaders are shown (Gilgamesh and Mursilis) and four units are shown, including three UUs.

About the sumerian UU, the Enkidu warrior.
This is really weird because according to the epic of gilgamish, Enkidu was Gilgamish' buddy. Then he died and Gilgamesh became very sad, because then he knew he was going to die too some day. then he went on this walkabout to find the plant of eternal life which... Anyways, the epic of Gilgamesh was a poem. Enkidu was not Sumerian I think. He was a big brute living in the desert and he was tamed by a Babylonian or is it Sumerian prostitute... in short Enkidu was a single barbarian and therefore cannot be several warriors,

Yeah, Enkidu was the fuzzy chap who ran around with Gilgamesh (Sumerian leader). This is very odd indeed.

Yay! My $.02- I'm totally stoked about this. It makes my favorite game of all time even bigger. Period. No one ever said it was perfect before or after PTW. Nothing is. I bought GalCiv the other day, and while its fun for what it is, it's civ3, ptw, and conquests that I'll be coming back to, time and time again. Call me a fanboy, that's fine. I'll retort by calling you a naybob.
I'm especially pleased with the new gov types :D I messed around a little bit w/the editor and with some mods, but they always load sooo slowly, that the more they can jam into the original, the better, imo. Anyway, now I have another reason besides football to look forward to the fall! Conquests!

*Go Gators!*
