E3: Firaxis Announced 2nd Civ3 Expansion!

I seem strangly unexcited about this.

Adding those 8 civs first of all means that you would be able to play with 40 civs at a time! I might have missed something but I think there is no way you can currently mod that.

Wait a minute! So someone can just use the Civ-Editor and make those AND SELL IT FOR 40+ BUCKS ?!?!?!

I would love to do that :) [/B]

All ya need is a licence to the game!

I'm not actually THAT excited, but I'll get it, and I'll enjoy it.

apolytonCivfan:

shh! it's going to be an illegal version of the expansion
lol... just kidding, i was just talking about how some people just mod stuff and play for themselves (not me)

anarres:

yea... me either :S probaly because of our past exprience with PTW maybe ??

i hear alot of people moaning about this expansion and i cant believe it! especially from people who really like this game and are avid fans... i may not have that much money and am not looking forward to dropping more cash...
BUT I can say i bought this game the day it came out in the states and have gotten more game play from this than anything i've ever owned! one and a half years of weekly play! THen when i consider i just dropped 19$ to go see a two hour movie yesterday (two tickets)... there really is no comparison! hurrah!

4- The rest of the South American civs were arisen agains them. In fact they looked to the Spanihs like God- sent libertators against the Tyran Moctezuma (althoug then the Spanish also conquered them). Very few Spanish soldiers fought against them, the main forces were antoher american natives. The Spanish justt united and organized this opposition against the Aztecs.

... the rest of Meso american civs?

3- The natives were assimilated by us. The proof is simply: lot more persons in South American looks (and are) descendants of natives. Look at how many how north american natives can you find in their capital...
[/QUOTE]

I'm afraid there were two native populations that weren't assimilated by you ;)
Both were endogamic, and only mixed with spanish through kidnapping.
The Araúcos in Venezuela (maybe i don't spell them well, i learned that long time ago in a Chilean Culture Class)
and the Mapuches here in Chile.

¿Qué tal un poco de castellano para la despedida?
(How about a bit of castilian for the good bye?)

Sigan civilizados
(Keep civilized)

The really weird thing is that I love PTW.

It's only the complete f**kup with Infogrames / Atari that has upset me in the slightest.

Maybe it's the fact that it's Atari they are in bed with again.

People saying that Firaxis are not responsible for Atari need to realise they are being taken hook line and sinker...

About the history of different civs in different times and fighting wars, ect....

Isnt this game suppose to be a different history time-line?

"[Make ur own history or something like that]...You decide." (from one of the civ 3 commericals)

So the stuff about civs "liberating" other civs in the game could be or not be the same.... you can decide history (in ur game), is that correct?

I bought Civ3 the first day it came out in Canada!

I tried it out for 2 weeks and got fed up with it and returned to civ2. I then returned back to it when a patch came out. Played another 2 weeks and got fed up with it!

Every patch brought out brought my experience another 2 weeks.

The medertraining Mod however and its last patch has created alot of fun but seems to still miss some things.

Hopefully this will now change.

PTW not worth mentioning!

To MusicLaunch and Louis XXIV: I disagree that most of the new expansion can be changed in the editor or moded because they have only given us a small amount of information that can indeed be moded, but what cant be moded is what we don’t know.
;)

I don’t know why but I am unusually excited about the new expansion ( I almost cant believe it!)! And I dont know why some of you are not!? Is it because you got disappointed with PTW and don’t know what to expect or is it something elce?

Deep inside me I knew that it was going to be a new Civilization product!:king:

PS: Why are people bashing PTW all of the sudden??? I have not heard such harsh words about PTW before! :crazyeye: :) ;)

See. . . that's what I always thought. But then people get all up in arms. . ."I got gunpowder in 1822 and it was discovered in 1217" or whatever year it was. . . I like being able to start and just go. I've also contemplated resetting my year counter so it starts at 0, and goes up from there.

In any event. . .I'm hoping that the editor is better, and the game play more advanced. Sure, some of this stuff could be patches, but the programmers gotta eat too. I figure by the time all is said and done, I will have paid about 90 bucks for the game. 40 for the game itself, 30 for PTW, and hopefully around 20 for C3C. Over a two to three year period, it's not that bad. I would have spent about hthe same on other games, so it evens out. But then, if I had the choice to get the xp's as free patches and not pay-for addons, whcih do you think I'd take?

the diablo ii team is working on a patch as big as its expansion, which is pretty REALLY COOL GUY huge.

ok some questions which hopefully be answered soon enough.

Do we need PTW to use this expansion?

Will they put events and triggers into the editor to make it a scenario capable game like Civ2?

Will there be a patch that comes with the Expansion CD?

All in all, sounds good, hopefully everyones wishes will finally come true!

I asked Firaxis if we needed PTW to play the new expansion. I will tell you when they write to me!

OOOOHHH enhance multiplayer support ;)
