Earth 2010 PBEM

Taiwan and Karachi were taken by Chinese forces. The conquest of the latter one was extremely difficult!!!

Furthermore a nosy US Submarine was sunk.

FINALLY!

American soil invaded!

Spoiler :
:p

We're doomed.

I'll play till I die :(

As we're nearing to the one year anniversary of non-stop epic Nuclear World War Three -- things become easier for our sworn foes: no more Pakistan and no more Taiwan ;); soon there will be no Germany too. Hopefully EU will leave German embraces and vassalize to the East. Which means less civs to play and easier life! :mwaha: Who needs all those cities and units and civs? Let the things be Made in China and in Russia, just sit back and enjoy entertainments of Western Civilization. I mean, enjoy while you still can, grrr.

We would like to arrange a ceasefire and hopefully a peace treaty.

I think AI has a good quote in cases like this: we rather win the game, thank you very much ;)

Russian forces storming the city of Lagos enter the city hall and see a group of Muslims shot dead in the main chamber. It appears to have been a mass suicide. Upon identification of the bodies, it is found out to be Osama bin Laden's son that was leading the Muslim revival, and the one who helped cause nuclear World War III resulting in a death toll in the millions.

The remaining Muslim Confederacy troops are scattered and weak, some fight on but its a losing battle without their leader. Its only a matter of months before the entire Confederacy falls to the Eastern powers.

(I have retired this game, so your rotation will most faster. I have literally about 6 units left, all of which are badly injured. Good game everyone, and congrats to Tigranes and Luthor, it was well played from turn 1. Inconsistencies with Western leaders throughout the game didn't help matters, but I imagine you would have won anyway. I am proud of myself for being able to make something from the Muslims, we did our job and started a nuclear world war, which is really what I had been hoping for all along! :D)

I agree ... we made some errors of judgment ... and we will get better in these games.

Tigranes/Luthor ... you are just too good!!!

(I have retired this game)

Thank you very much for the exciting game. I would rather see you in East's team then West's, but we both made very stubborn choices during this game  Your suicide attacks claimed many victims, I only wished you could post some sill/lost stats, but I think I can do it myself later.

Oh, the game is over?

Now that I was willing to get out of my little shell and conquer the world?

Nighthawk, your game isnt over yet! Maybe no more turns for you but... you still owe us a exciting detailed auto-biography of the muslim leader of this game!!!

USA and Europe did not resign yet. We just have 5-1=4 humans now....

It is over, for all intents and purposes. The western allies and the Muslims made a noble defense, but ultimately the East is just too powerful at this point to beat them back. You never know though, maybe USA has something up its sleeve that I'm not aware of...

Good call Tigranes, I didnt think to check out the win/loss stats. You still would have won over 50% of the battles, our suicide attacks definitely caused you more problems than sitting back and getting bombed and then crushed... but I still know I lost more than 50% of battles against you, I was generally going into a fight with anywhere from 2%-40% odds, only rarely above 50%, and it seemed to be about that rate of attrition for me.

And yes, I could have joined up with the East as their little brother and be considered a "winner"... but it wouldnt have been even close to a fair fight, and as I mentioned from day 1 to Tigranes, winning the game as the 3rd wheel in a 3 v 2 fight isn't really fun to me. Is it really winning if all you are doing is joining the biggest group in the world and riding on their coattails? I'd much rather win the game myself!

Anyway, yes Luthor you are correct, I do owe you all the history of the Muslim Confederacy, and I will type that up and post it later today. I have a nice long-winded history mostly written already from when I had Eclipse be my replacement back in November, I can use that and edit it for the rest of the story...

After game is over I will go back and check order of battle after that fatefull nuking of Iceland that sparked WW3. I am pretty sure odds were against us even without counting your countless Modern Infantries. I wonder why you never had a happiness problem -- I tried to draft myself -- but penalties are just too harsh on Marathon...

Well you have to remember that when you draft you lose 3 happiness, but you also lose 3 population. So effectively everything gets lowered, and as long as you aren't growing your cities, it has a happiness-neutral impact. Obviously this means the total units that can be drafted is limited... but for a short-term emergency defense, it surely works just fine. And on marathon speed, no cities grow very fast anyway, so it wasn't really a worry. Long-term its not sustainable unless I am constantly expanding and adding happiness resources, or increasing my culture slider. Which I did have up for a period of time until I needed to max gold to rush-buy.

It also helps that I consolidated the Muslim countries, so I had tons of resources, when added with some corporations and a little culture ratio, kept my happiness super high. I only started having happiness problems at the end when it didnt matter and I didnt care, I drafted all my cities down to as low as they could go.

Also, the globe theater city is a crucial drafting city. No happiness problems, ever, so as long as you have the population you can draft. Lagos was my globe city, and I was about to start converting towns to farms to make growth as high as possible, which would have made it an infantry pump. Too little, too late though. Karachi in Pakistan and Jakarta were also good globe draft cities that I used until they were nuked/taken. They also had the modern fisheries, so that pop grew amazingly fast. If I wasn't constantly in a war this game and could have prepared properly I might have been able to put together a HUGE stack of mobile infantry!

It was funny though, once Pakistan was nuked, the Globe Theater was destroyed, and all those happiness penalties that were hidden suddenly appeared again. So it was the unhappiest city in the world. It was like 8 pop, but something like 8 < 58 unhappy citizens!!! Even without the surrounding land being radioactive, that city would have staved to death!

 I can't wait... but take your time! No hurry needed! It's much better to be full of juicy betrayal details than to be done in a rush.

So is the game over or not? Kiwitt, do you surrender and accept to pay a huuuuuuge compensatory amount to the "Capitalism victims Fund"? Fund to be managed by China and Russia off course... :p

One thing I agree with Nighthawk: I wish we had played without Permanent Alliances... I think that the fact that there can only be 1 winner makes it more... challeging!
