Earth 2010 PBEM

Grrr... I was hiding that force for so long! All for nothing!

Temporary set back. You are not going to hold on long :trouble:

If Nighthawks would allow any criticism -- you really under-researched the possibility of Permanent Alliance. It is turned off by default, so many people don't know how awesome it can be, but it is. Why combine 6 civs into 3? And then into 1 civ... 1 alliance of 6 would be a better idea. Each civ pays only its maintenance, but all 6 research towards the common goal. Each 6 can have nuke production (with enough Uranium). Each 6 can have their own National Wonders (6 capitals with 6 Bureaucracies with 6 Wall Streets, etc!) but if one civ has a World Wonder --- all 6 will enjoy the benefit: Chinese Three Gorges Dam powers all my cities. I discovered all these by the chance while playing this game. Learned a lot actually! All these things can be tested in hot seat mode with the original file I have posted for everyone. I believe game's host needs to know just as much about starting situation as everyone else -- it's only fair. So compared to Nighthawks plots my idea was really one-dimensional: no IBCMs for any human, massive first strike with tactical nukes, Chinese and Muslim aid, Paratroopers and Helicopters. But Muslimgate changed everything forever -- I kick myself in the head for being so naive. In fact I discovered that one can check espionage points completely randomly -- which became my new routine now, Check out our Spy wars with Brazil in Minor League!

Yes, this is definitely a good criticism. I did recognize the benefit I would have gotten with 6 separate civs solely with the advantage of multiple National Wonders. That is part of the reason I didn't have Indonesia and Pakistan join right away, that and the fact that they are connected. However I also would have lost the advantage of a huge empire-wide Golden Age too. And I just kept going back to the fact that if having 6 small civs was such a good idea, why would everything in the game stress the fact that large empires are better? Also, I was unable to do much with Permanent Alliances other than join them in groups of 2. You can't have more than one Perm Alliance as far as I'm aware, I wasn't able to ally them any more than they already were. But yes, this is a good criticism, I should have taken a shot with separate civs to see how I could work it out.

And yes, I also learned a lot about spying... I love spying so its nice to really get to know the ins and outs of how it works. you are right about Brazil, I just can't keep up with him easily in Minor Leagues!

Until Luthor made a permanent alliance with me (after pretty heated exchange, I must confess) -- I was not sure about China's true intentions.
My turn to open up...

From turn1 me and Tigranes made a secret alliance... on turn2 after Eclipe sent me the wrong file I made a mistake and assumed that alliance... tried to erase my comments but Eclipse had already "quoted" me so... argh! It was there for everyone to see for all times!!! Even though I tried never to mention this again, the statement was there! :wallbash:

I was true and honest about this relation but... Tigranes was so devasted by the muslim betrayals that he was suspicious of everyone... and he was quite agressive even though I was his ally from the beginning... due to his agressive tone towards me I was almost almost declaring war on Russia rather than making a Permanent Alliance... I wanted to honour my committments but the way that Tigranes spoke to me... grrrrr....

That is the thing with humans: emotions, tandrums, obsessions, etc...

Tigranes, because of your bullying attittude I almost entered the war against you! And this was something that never crossed my mind before!!!

In the end I decided to make the diplomatic (cold headed) decision because if I declared war on Russia it would mean a victory to the allies right there and then... by being so suspicious of me Tigranes almost made me do what he feared the most... it would be something like a self-fullfilling prophecy!

I must say that I disliked some of Tigranes ethics (specially when he insisted that I replayed the turn) but I decided to go for it... and the rest is known history. I contributed with money, units and Great Persons (this was hard to giveaway precious kept GP's!) but the overall tactics that gave us victory was Tigranes doing! It's because of him that the East won!

At least its good to see I wasn't the only one who didnt like the TONE Russia was giving us! In your case though, cooler heads prevailed and you ended up a winner. I became too focused on revenge and wanting to stick it to him!

Of course the fact that I wasn't a world power and didnt feel like I had a huge chance to win the game helped sway my decision too...

I wish you could see things from my side. It is my understanding that two partners need to do equal bidding when it comes to war preparation, troop deployment, amount of units killed, boldness in actions, etc. I felt like Soviets felt about Americans and British during 1942. At some point I was fighting alone against half of the known world, and there was no rule about keeping your commitement. From the very begining I stated that leader to leader commitements are very different from player to player -- just like real politics is. You roleplay Chinese leader, and Chinese leader have chosen to be a man of his words, backstabing is not the only option, you know  I have absolutely no way of knowing. So if I was agressive, it was desperation with your procrastination -- the way I saw it. Odds were SERIOUSLY against me, as I have commited most of my troops to Middle East, Iceland, and Canada, while you have enjoyed your easy feast over the Indonesia, and kept your units close to their Chinese wives and children.

After latest nuking our victory is not there yet. Lets just stay focused and seek ways to avenge the death of the first invasion wave

More bold actions by Russian forces brought Seattle under East's control. The site of the Microsoft's headquarters was not particularly impressive :nuke::nuke::

Bill Gates was captured in the process, but was spared life because of his Bill and Melinda Gates foundation: we also believe that all people deserve the right to live healthy and productive life. Under East's governance, that is. He was invited to evaluate new Russian OS Phantom(c), currently in alpha testing stage. Phantom OS is one of a few OSes that are not based on classical concepts of Unix-like systems. Its primary goal is to achieve simplicity and effectiveness in both the operating system and applications at the same time. Phantom is based on the principle that "Everything is an object", in contrast to the Unix-like approach of "Everything is a file". Application code does not see OS restarts and could live forever—this makes the concept of a file obsolete and any variable or data structure could be stored forever and at the same time be available directly through a pointer. Differently from hibernation that is done in other OSs, persistence lies in the very core principles of the Phantom OS core. It is done transparently for applications; in most cases it does not require re-programming of an application. Persistence stays even if the computer crashes.

Guys, who has the file? Luthor?

Its left me to luthor ... I had a few problems sending it.

Two cities conquered and 4 enemy ships sunk... the Islamic Confederation should be capitulating soon enough!

:newyear:

The year is indeed happy for the East. Not sure what is holding West from surrendering -- we overdid population requirement for Domination, and only 15% shy from Land requirement. This will be achieved in no time, as our African cities start producing culture.

US downfall may require some time, but the result cannot be doubted. Sooner or later Uncle Sam will be nuked to death, starvation and degradation.
:nuke::scared::nuke:

Take Los Angeles, for example. We stopped all movie production there. The World would need to watch Russian and Chinese movies. No more silly drama or romantic comedy -- just ideologically solid glorification of Putin and Chinese Communist Party

Los Angeles has fallen! Even without any nukes this time :mischief:

More confused fighting in Rocky Mountains. Russian Special Forces died attacking American tank with 80% winning odds  Israeli Submarine sunk Russian carrier full with veteran planes :mad: Truly Israeli AI was the most effective AI in this game, I lost so many good units to their sneaky Special Forces when Jerusalem was theirs, and I keep loosing even when Jerusalem is ours :mad::mad:
