I went to check on my pre-order at a EB store in Sherwood, Oregon at approximately 5:00 PM Pacific Time. The guy there acted as if I was bothering him by asking about Civ IV. He may have answered this question quite a few times already today. Anyway, he said that it MAY be in Wednesday. I tried to get some more specific information about where the package was currently located, but he did not give me any more details. So, it looks like I'll have to wait a couple of days.

How have the employees acted when you checked on the shipping status of your order??? I hope it went better than my exchange. :D

The EB store in Maryville, Tn said tuesday or wednesday. The one in Knoxville said tuesday. Who knows!

I called a store today and it seemed like I was the first person to inquire about Civ IV as he was wondering if it was for the console :D

Just called in Sacramento. I asked the guy and could hear him asking someone else who said "tomorrow." Then I said and ya'll open at 10 right? He said yep and I said great I'll see you then. So if I have to make two trips tomorrow I'm going to be really pissed off...at least until I get my copy and get home.

i called for my EB in michigan, guy sounded casual and like he just started his shift (cause he was sorta happy) and he said by 3pm EST on the 25th

Yeah WTH, ok I just called today and the guy said the 25th by 3:30 and I called again and another guy said the 26th!

Huntunc- I wouldn't make that 10 AM trip.

When I worked at Gamestop, we got one shipment in the mid morning (10ish) and one shipment in the afternoon, around 4ish. I very much doubt that they'll have the first order unpacked and checked in at 10 AM, as they will have just opened.

I'd call and make sure they have a copy IN THEIR HAND before making the trip, especially with gas at $2.70 a gallon.

I had a ray of hope this evening, I went over to Wal-Mart, and the guy said he had just got 160 boxes of games in. I asked if he could check if they had Civ 4, he said no, I asked if he could check the invoice, he said no. So, I'm gonna go back over there around 9 and see what's up. Cross your fingers for me!

Usually, a place like Wal-Mart or Office Depot is your best bet to get the game early, as they are pretty stupid about street dates and the like. Your standard Gamestop or EB Games isn't gonna have it today, but Toys-R-Us or Target (places that don't deal SPECIFICALLY in games) just might.

In Virginia, My pre-order got to my local EB Games today, but the guy said he couldn't give it to me until tomorrow because of the release date rules. The bastard. I practically begged. His exact words were "It might have arrived in this afternoon's shipment, but I can't sell it until the 25th."

Nevertheless, it's nice it's at the store waiting for me tomorrow.

Sounds like you were being a pain in the arse, it also sounds like the exact thing I'd do.......;)

For your sake, I hope so too, but see above. I don't think the game shipped until today, it is VERY unlikely that you are close enough to the distribution center that it already got there.

Who knows, though, ya could get lucky!

Where in Virginia?

I called this morning and the guy confidently told me I could pick it up tomorrow afternoon. Called back this evening and someone else told me it likely wouldn't be in until Wednesday. Neither were rude at all though. I'm going to be at work from 7-7 tomorrow and work Wednesday morning at 7 am so I'll probably just pick it up Wednesday anyway.

I live in Northern Virginia but my mileage so far seems to be the other way around - I got an email this morning from EB stating the release date has been "changed to 10/24". So I called my pre-order store in Centerville, and the guy told me that I definitely couldn't pick it up until tomorrow, and I definitely would be able to pick it up tomorrow.

I was completely polite throughout the conversation. (It was a very short conversation) However, I did ask about three questions after he told me that it was not in. Perhaps, he views knowledge as being dangerous, as I might go back and hold him to his word. Oh well, at least I have this forum to help me make it through to the end. And...I'm also not the only one who is having difficulties.

It will be interesting to see if picking it up at the store makes this process go any faster.

Last Friday night I called EB and asked two very specific questions. They were:

1.) When is CivIV released? I already knew this but asked anyway. He stated on the 25th.
2.) When will the game arrived at this store? He stated it would be here on the 26th.

On Saturday I went to the store to pre-order the game. The guy I talked to there seemed less knowledgeable. At first he informed me that the CE version would be more expensive. I said nothing and waited while he checked the computer. He was rather shocked when it was the same price. When I asked him what day the game would be at the store he said the 25th. When I mentioned to him about what time it would arrive he started giving me the run around.

Now I talked to two different people at the same store, and received two different answers. So what have I learned? Don’t base anything off just one guy. I’m inclined to believe the first individual I talked too.

Oh well, I’ll just wait and see when they call. Or call them every now and than.

Here is the coolest thing about my EBGames... it's located in the mall that has a 20 screen movie theatre... so I shall now go to Fandango and see what's playing, at what time... and plan to arrive early for store opening, if no delivery yet, I shall attend a movie and then return to said store... after which if there is still no game, I shall have lunch, followed by a return visit to the store, no movie? Ok, I shall browse all the lovely young ladies working the mall and see how many phone numbers I can get... not that I will call any of them unless they want to play multiplayer with me... lol... the life of an addict...

This is a wonderful strategy, however, I will be at work tomorrow and this will not be possible for me. If you see any good movies you might as well let us know, because no one around here has much else to do for the next or even two. :D

I called ebgames a few days ago and the man there in the store told me that the store would have it in by tuesay the 25th or thurdsay the 27th. He seemed prety unshure.
Im here in Toronto
