eldar01 - What's The Story?

All I can say is "ouch".

Will try not to lose the game on Saturday

@The Admirable Admiral - Can't seem to open the save without locking everything up. So I will have to pass this round and hope I can clear the problem before the next go.

Still working on the problem. Seems to have something to do with security :hmm:

On loading up the game..wow. I didn't realise how much trouble we were in. We have just 2 injured archers in our capital and several of its improvements have been pillaged. Barbs are everywhere, and with our best available unit being the archer it's difficult to see what we're going to do when axes start appearing. Bibracte is building a barracks, but the fastest it can be built is in 10 turns. I decided to get another archer in first, as there are currently 4 barb units surrounding us.

Turn 112 (820 BC) Our defenders defeat an archer and a warrior.
Our gold will get pillaged next turn but I dare not attack with eithe of our units, the odds aren't good enough.

Lots of enter pressing

Turn 115 (775 BC) Wang founds Won-san where we'd quite like to have a city. If he builds a road to link up with us and we can borrow that iron, it could be a lifeline.

Turn 117 (745 BC) Lizzy brings an archer up to help us and kills a barb. Nice! Omniously the first barb axeman and spearman have just appeared. I'm not sure if we can survive this..

Turn 121 (685 BC) Axeman taken out by Lizzy's archer. Bibracte finishes an archer, it is size 5 and unhealthy so I whip the barracks with another archer following in the queue.

Turn 123 (655 BC) We're up to 4 archers now, plus our barracks and our 1 worker. I'm doing my best to get our quarry and gold mine back up. Wang has moved an archer towards Vienne - maybe he will take out some of its defences for us. Start work on yet another archer!

More enter pressing, more barbs, more pillaging.

We're surviving, just. We have 4 archers now with 1 more soon, but no realistic chance of taking back Vienne unless we can get hold of some horses/metal. Lizzy's archer has been quite helpful in offering an alternative target for the barbs. I'm at a complete loss what to do next really. Sorry!

I'll only start worrying when Isabella finally gets some units to us! We're still at war with her, right?! Any sign of Spanish attackers?

Look east for metal. If we can drop a town between the pigs and the copper we will be in less than thin city for defense. Trying to hold off those barbs with archers alone is going to leave us locked up in the capitol.

And I finally fixed my problems. Seems there are some interactions between the game and Windows security that affect access to the Mod files. Now I just have to figure out how to teach my landlord with whom I share the machine that pressing "Run" every time some porno site offers to install software is not a good idea ;)

I'll stick my oar in tomorrow, Thursday 4/26

How can we persuade Wonsan's borders to pop quickly? Pity we can't direct Wang's build orders as well as his research - otherwise I'd tell him to get going on a Monument there! If the worker safely finishes his tasks, get him to road to Wonsan, at least that way we'll get the Iron as soon as Wang hooks it up.

Ouch, ouch and double ouch.

The bogies are coming in from the east and south and they pillaged most of the improvements. A wave of barbarian spearmen moved through followed by an axe who took the stone quarry and then suicided.

The surviving barbarian spear is moving on towards the English town NW.

Got two more archers trained, protected the worker and got started on another settler - looks like we have two decent choices, I am inclined to go for the copper.

I also located another source of iron on the map - well to the east.

We are sharing research towards Alphabet with the Wang, who is training up some elephants. I think Isabella is on his list. She built Toledo just south of Seoul. He too has suffered from the barbarian incursions.

but otherwise appears to be doing well enough.

Really need to get that metal hooked up and get access to Wang's elephants.

Oh joy. I know raging barbs can be a real pain but I've never had this much trouble with 'em [and kept bothering to play on].
