ENES: World of Magic II

Could you make me more of a sickly purple colour?

I was going to comment on the puke-like color of your nation... :vomit: BTW, the undeads are HUGE! What happened? Are your zombies actually undead animals?

Because it's late and I'm still not tired and I start late tomorrow, I have made a more detailed map over Arkenaar Continent. Useful for any would-be invaders! :D Come, Get Some! :ar15:

All the player nation stats are updated now. (Or so I hope.)

Iggy, yes, I can do that. BTW, here's how your stats work: You can choose ot have your leader spend one full turn turning corpses into warriors. During this, he cannot move or give commands.

Silver: The undead weren't mapped until now, and they're not a nation, just a loose wave of shambling bodies. They're huge because they're so spread out. Any attack at any point is guaranteed to suceed, but will be rapidly surrounded. :p

ORDERS IN BY THURSDAY!

Right now.
Roddyna +800 Lizard Cavalry
Arkenaar +2 science
Nekros +3000 corpses
Duskmist +1 to Mythal
Olympus +10 Priests
House Leonhard +50 Wurm Riders

In the years after the Continental War, peace reigned in Arkenaar. The kingdom spread it's reaches into the wildlands still not tamed, the people settled, the flocks increased and the autumn season granted rich harvests. The Duchy of Neobrigia was starting to look more like Arkenaar proper. With the introduction of The Church, Arkenaaran customs and the Bell Festival, the people enjoyed not only stability and peace, but also cultural enrichment. Many still remembered the dreadful war and all its bloodshed, but those who lived to see the aftermath agreed that a life was better after than before.

The positive relations between Arkenaar and Samarra continued. The magocracy still paid tribute to the throne, but for the first five years, the tribute was spent within Samarra as the Church built a magnificent temple in the capital Samar. The Bell Festival is now celebrated across the entire continent, a common holiday for the people. The Church also spreads rapidly, as all over both Neobrigia and Samarra, shrines and temples are built to consolidate the faith.

After five years of just reign and re-established peace, Galennar Arkenstone cedes the Throne to her son, Prince Rory II, who becomes the second High King of Arkenaar. Despite his formal title, the people are calling him the First King, as his namesake War Chief Rory I never actually ascended to the throne. Nonetheless, the people warmly embrace their new leader. Like his mother, he has shown great wisdom and diplomatic skill, something he proved through the forming and ruling of Neobrigia after the Continental War. Since Rory II also married a Brigian noblewoman, the Baroness Tyatira of Easting, the Brigians have a special reason to celebrate.

The future seemed to hold many good years in store for the Kingdom. With peace restored, a growing national unity and awareness, the nation that once started as the warmonging city-state of Arkopolis now shone brightly, poised to reach greater glory than Rory I had ever dreamed of.

Change ruler name to Rory II... the Brilliant
The royal line so far:
Rory I the Mighty, married to Trisha, "Daughter of Arkopolis". One child (Galenna)
Galenna I the Beautiful, married to Count Tybaldo of Phashal. Two children (Rory II and Princess Meralla)
Rory II the Brilliant, married to Baroness Tyatira of Easting. Four children. (Prince Caspian, Balsar, Renallo and Princess Purmilla. Caspian is the Heir)

I shall spare you of the second story I had in mind of a sickly lovely scene from the royal family's reunion on New Years Eve AR 172/173. :p

@Erik: You have officially dumbfounded me.

1. What does this have to do with the Mythal?
2. I thought the mythal was already finished? That's what you said last update, anyway.

Wurm Riders - 200 per eco point
what are Wurms?
is that like small dragon type things?
do they fly (meaning this is an air unit)?
or are they just bigger versions of cavalry (ie early tanks)?

i'm trying to figure out if i need some for a rounded out military or not.

Rewan panted and wiped his brow as the final zombie fell before him. Even though he was one of the most powerful Pale Masters, his powers had been greatly drained during this long battle. Pocketing the wand of black fire he'd grasped tightly in his hand, he climbed a nearby pile of burnt corpses, searching for the remains of the lich. He kicked the zombies out of the way, reaching his hand down to pull out the undead mage.
What he pulled out was just a zombie.
Baffled, he inspected the whole area, not finding the remains of the mysterious caster. It had been a former apprentice of his, a mage that had left Duskmist, tired of the rigid discipline mages endured there. Now Rewan knew what had transpired since that leave, but was still amazed the student had proven capable of this transformation - most men would be torn and cast into the Hells should they attempt this. The mage rubbed his chin as he considered the alternatives. The student was not trained, so he was either beyond exceptional, or had been aided in the transformation. Rewan excluded the first alternative after some hesitation; the pupil would have showed more promise during his training if he possessed such qualities.
Absently, he shuffled a corpse out of the way as he wondered who would be able to help with this - an even more difficult feat than lichdom itself. Yet it struck him, and his eyes widened in realization. This lich had lead an entire division of undead, a hundred of them.. Any Pale Master, except maybe Erathal and his aide, could control no more than twenty or thirty. This meant that it must be a powerful undead. Ghoul Lord.. Demilich.. Or this Nekros that supposedly lead an army of the dead.
Cursing once more, he raised his hand, sending an emergency thought tio Erathal. The King quickly answered, and Rewan told him what he'd discovered. Via his thoughts, Erathal informed the Pale Master that Nekros could manifest himself in any undead under his command, and perhaps the lich, although in lesser degree. As Rawen considered this info, Erathal ordered him to stay where he was, as the King would open an infernal gate and send some help; including Naz'Ghar, the King's personal aide and apprentice. Rewan sent forth a thankful and faithful thought before breaking the thought. As he considered the task before him, he couldn't help but feel a grim, sadistic glee spread through his body. A deathly smile nudging his furrowed expression, he lowered himself onto the ground to rest and re-learn his spells.

@Azash: Uh, wards off undead? And the Mythal is displayed as /X in your stats because you can keep powering it up as much as you like. You (and everyone) can freely work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Story bonuses are semi-random, just for the record.

@Roddy: Wurms are essentially wingless dragons that don't breathe fire. They were introduced in Update 2.
The second [option] is a huge wurm, about ten meters long. They need a rider to control them. You could turn a bunch loose in the general direction of enemies, but they'd mostly thrash around and not advance. (200 per spending pt.)

MMhm I'd write another story, but school started today so bleh.

Fogsam watched the steep hill that overlooked Arkopolis. Once, it was like a huge mass of rock and dirt that loomed in the north like a hulking beast. Now mansions and palaces for the upper class dotted the slopes, now transformed into rich vineyards and fruit gardens.

The hill did not have a name. But it was nonetheless a famous landmark. Fishing boats used it as a marker when out at sea. It was also the place where the War Chief Rory had tragically died right before his coronation. An obelisk stood there now, in the memory of Arkopolis' champion.

From where he stood at the beach, the hill was twice as tall as it usually looked. Part of that was because he stood on, well, the beach, and not on the plateau a hundred feet above. Arkopolis looked like a coastal city on the face of the map, but it was severed from the ocean by a sheer rocky cliff, right along the coast.

Fogsam liked the ocean. Often he walked here and enjoyed the sight of the waves coming in. He owned a tiny boat, but it was hardly seaworthy. His fascination with the ocean was also an ambition. His dream was an arkenaar with maritime tradition that commanded vast fleets for exploration and trade with foreign lands.

Fogsam was not a fool. He did not think to covince the Court to agree at first. His initial appeal in Court was a meager one. The High King had allowed a small stipend from his personal coffer, but the Court in general was highly sceptic to Fogsam's plans. He had gained the High King's trust, however, and was determined to succeed.

Therefore, he had drawn out the plans for the vessel that would convince the Court himself. It was based on the Terresin crystals, and as such granted a measure of credability from the beginning. His innate bond with the sea and knowledge of the waves and winds gave him great aid in shaping the vessel on paper. After another audience in the Court, he was cleared to construct the ship itself.

This phase proved to be disasterous for Fogsam and his artisans. Three years of failure followed. The wood proved too weak, so Samarran timber was imported. Then the sails were ripped apart, requiring special oiled silks to be made. The masts snapped as the riggings tugged at unequal points. The ship was not stable enough for the rough waves, and nearly capsized. The challenges were endless.

Finally, after four years of much toil and frustration, the vessel was complete. Fogsam was proud to present his work of a lifetime: the Corvette. Sleek as a blade, fast as a swooping falcon, and rugged like a warrior. This was the ultimate sailing ship, and would prove priceless to Arkenaar in its future exploration beyond the vast oceans.

Fogsam smiled as he followed to horizon with his gaze. Then the beach came in sight again, and he could see the new docks and shipyards in construction. In time, Arkopolis would have its own port and a dozen ships would line the ports at any given time. Indeed, the current year was well on its way to be remembered as the Year of Shining Sails. The dawn of maritime romance was rising over Arkenaar.

NEW UU: Corvettes

Lerkal felt a strange tugging. His thoughts were unexpectedly drawn back to a distant memory. A lifetime ago.

Master Rewan has found me.

For a moment, Lerkal panicked. His bond had been severed. With his rise to death, Nekros had broken all ties with the petty magics of mortals.

What could this be? He thought back.

The bond of loyalty was shattered, the bond to his master and nation. Rewan's capability of control was gone.

But the mind connection. One made at birth.

Lerkal made a sharp hissing intake of breath. For all of his mortal life, Lerkal had been closely bound by something beyond magic. By the power of comradeship with Rewan. A power that ensured that nothing could separate them totally. Nothing. Not even the power of the mightiest magical being under the heavens.

Lerkal's rotten face twisted into a grin. He now remembered the skirmish, leading a small group of zombies patrolling around Duskmist, possessing the body of the greatest zombie. Firing the magical bolts at the humans. The face- he remembered it now.

Lerkal considered circumstances under the light of his discovery. His grin widened. He could communicate, but all other spells of control were utterly broken.

His thoughts emenated through the void between minds, finding their way to his former mentro.

"Rewan, my master. It seems that you have found me at last. Are you pleased with my- progress?"

OOC: Azash, let's see what we can do with this story. Post something responding to this.

@Erik: I demand that you remove Brigland from the NPC list :p

By popular demand, education can now be traded around. The rules are simple:
1 economy point gets you 2 points of education (in one field) if another nation is teaching you. You can choose whether to spend the point as usual or give it to the other nation.

Silver: Fine, I'll move them to a sub-block in your stats. :p

I still protest, since the ruler is set to be "Oligarch Motopart". :p It should be Prince Caspian, since he is the Heir to the throne. He succeeded the title when his father became High King. And I think I initially named the Duchy Brigia, and Nebrig to Neobrigia, but it's OK the way it is. Nebrig stays Nebrig.

I was going to write a story regarding the collaboration between the Academies of Arkenaar and Neobrigia, but I will not, since I am off to my driving lesson, and I've written two stories already in the past 24 hours or so. The point is that I'm pooling the education of Arkenaar and Neobrigia. (I really think I deserve that, since I did not gain extra income through the conquest)

One more thing: change the government to Duchy already! The  of copy/paste! Grr.

We would like to find a nation with who to establish an exchange student program. We teach yours the ways of Science, you teach ours the ways of Agriculture or Military Education. If you are interested, please send us a message. Nowhere in the world will your students be able to learn more about Science then in Roddyna, but we seem to lack knowledge in the Farms and Arms fields.
(we both get education for cheaper if i teach you and you teach me)

Czar Roddy the Elder.

Roddyna Orders
1 eco on Economy
1 eco on Science
1 eco on 1000 Infantry
Scholar exchange arranged with Arkenaar. I teach him Science, he teaches me Military Ed.
1 eco on 2 Military Education (being taught by Arkenaar)
Teach Science to Arkenaar.

Military to split up as follows (refer to map for locations).
Code:
Location(s) Inf	Cav	Magi	Engeneers
New Moscow (Black Dot) 200 20 4	4
Korinov (Yellow Dot)	1300	600	10	4
Border Fort (Red Dot*2) 750	300 5	3
Town Fort (Green Dot*4) 100 10 1	1
Expansion (green lines) 300 40 2	2
New Moscow Guard - main function is city police and honor guard.
Korinov Guard - main function is army training (also acts as Town Fort).
Town Forts - main functions is territorial government, protection and military recruitment.
Border Forts - same as Town Forts only much heavier armed, due to nearby military of the Furey's Dominion.
Expansion - main (and only) function is to expand Roddyna influence to unclaimed lands, and find locations for the future regional Town Fort. Its split into 6 groups, 2 of which (one north of river, one south) have a Techmagi and an Engeneer in them, they are the main ones, and they're the ones that keep in contact with the capitol.

I also named the Rivers, and if you could place Korinov (the yellow dot) on the map as a city, that would be great.
Also i keep forgeting to mention this, could you change the name of my UU to "Telepathic Engeneer" instead of "Telekenetic" i just didnt remember the right word when i wrote that, the description dont match the telekenetic thing.

Story to follow later on (if i dont get real lazy)

Zues Smiled as he looked over his newest possestion.
"And that Is how you deal with a Foe properly, ARES. when I send you to crush a Foe. you CRUSH THEM. not toy with them, like I let you do with your Arenas and mock-battles."
He glares at the arogent Ares, causing him to flinch, then turns to face a young blue haired woman.
"Now you Neptune, you my dear were Briliant with the Navel manipulation. you managed. the fog and ample winds to assit us were great."

"Thank you mighty Zuse" Neptune replies with a wink and a smile.
