Environmental Responsibility: Books vs. Digital Readers

Wait it's a tablet?
I thought the text/picture looked like we in Sweden would say "Matt". That is not to shiny, clear and perhaps a bit "boring".
Almost all tablets I've seen have quite a shiny look to them.
What look is it?

Or maybe it's a book reader with internet access in which case it's pretty kewl. Although really, who knows the difference anymore.

My e-reader kindle has no ability to display colour, since digital ink. Also it has no touch screen.

And my uncle has the most modern kindle e-reader and its quite the same.

It's a Kindle Fire with all the bells and whistles.



It's very sharp and clear - it's my digital camera that's blurry in this pic. Books, music, movies, TV, Internet, games - it's indeed like a mini tablet, about half the size of an ipad.

Yep its a glorified tablet. You can get a more powerful android for cheaper, you just miss out on the amazon theme. Unfortunately it suffers the same problem with reading in sunlight as other tablets.

The original Kindle is awfully slow on page turning and the resolution isn't great.

The Paper White Kindle is almost there, I figure one more generation until we have something I would consider awesome.

Well, I mean e-reader kindle. I don't know if mine is the original. It has a year and a half. And I prefer it thousandfold over the newest one.

There are a whole bunch of e-reader Kindles, and like 4 models, e-reader and not, that are "newest".

Any older e-reader model is not as good as the newest e-reader model.

I disagree. I prefer to have a qwerty keyboard than just five buttons. That makes my kindle better than my uncle's.

Why on earth would you prefer a qwerty keyboard on a device that's wildly inappropriate for anything you could possibly do with a qwerty keyboard?

I still have a Blackberry... I never wanted it, though. When my other phone passed out my grandfather just bought me a BlackBerry before I could say anything... and now I'm stuck with this... thing.

But the Kindle is horrendously terrible at those things, just use basically any other device for those things, and save a ton of space on the Kindle to get one that is much better at actually reading.

True that. It's why so many still have Blackberries.

It's why like four people have Blackberries, most people have Blackberries because it's company policy.

Yeah, because there is a wonderful device with MP3, digital ink and an actual keyboard that is not a Kindle.

Any modern smartphone will be better for every single function the kindle does other than reading books.
