erezNES - Waves of Civilization

Alright, thanks for the relatively quick feedback. I just have one more question about the stats: Do you send us the statiistics of our nation or do we have to keep track of it ourselves? (Beginning of new turn stats, I mean)
Stats will be on the front page - go check other people's stats out, and read around the thread as some people posted orders for their spending and doing on the thread.

They get posted on the front page (post 4).
Edit: xpost

Okay, pretty sure I've got it covered, Thanks! :D

Now all we need is a third wave joiner ;)

Hmmm, so a horde gnaws far to the North of my nation, does it? This will have to be handled unfortunately.

Erez, do you plan on splitting up different regions into different sections in order to streamline sections of the update?

My claim is the southeastern tip of Korean peninsula and surrounding areas.

Haisho/Krzowwh
Government: Absolute Confederate Monarchy
Religion: Animist Polytheism
Age: Bronze
Stability: Stable
Economy: Mostly based on fishing and trading, many also practice mining. An emerging form of banking has arisen and is being employed and developed by the government
Information: From the beginning of its existence, Haisho had always been the center of trade and travel in its region. As voyagers had come and left, the mixture of different culture resulted in a unique Haisho culture. However, parts of Haisho had different customs and backgrounds, and development many small states, within the larger society. These small states sought unity and decided to elect a single leader out of all Haisho. This practice continued until the rule of Hotehishigo, whose rule was so great and prosperous that the citizens of Haisho declared him and his family the honored royal family of Haisho. It is such that the Throne of the Sea Dragon has passed forth from generation to generation under the Yotai dynasty.
Unique unit: Danhoryu
Archers who are equipped with a large wall-like shield with protruding spears and/or blades called a boshin. When not charging their boshin into the enemy, Danhoryu often use it as cover to fire arrows from.

Krzwwh No large ships.

Tycho Yes, just for streamlining and making the update easier to read and make.

3 down, 3 more to go...

OOC : I posted for a place in the 2nd wave .. :(
Guess wasnt good enough ... anyways .. moving on.

True, three more spots for third wave.

Nogaia Dualism

And so Kagura and Dahare became drunk, and so they watched the world as more and more beings joined them. And so they still are as different as night and day, for while Kagura would watch with melancholy Dahare would alternate between naping and intense staring. While Kagura would act slowly and deliberately, rationalizing his actions; Dahare would ignore problems, and then over correct. Kagura, the Sun, the Male, the Strength, the Body, the Death. Dahare, the Moon, the Female, the Weakness, the Mind, the Life. They are supreme.

Their religion is based on a pantheon of "Spirits, "Saints" and Deities" who differ by their origin, and which is headed by Kagura the Father and Dahare the mother. Both are represented by common drunken stereotypes and are very unreliable. Kagura emphasizes the steady melancholy of drunkenness in his care of his people and his intense attention to small subjects while Dahare represents the moodiness of drunks by standing aloof until incensed, upon which no kill is overkill.

Selasi

The Selasi, also known as Saints/Sages/Immortals, are deified real people. Usually they are people of great wisdom and knowledge, who have contributed with leadership, invention, and experimentation. The Unspeakable King is one such Selasi, whom the gods raised for fear of his unsatisfied soul raising rebellion against the heavens.

Recently, the hereditary monarchs of Yakot are beginning to give their rulers the title of Selasikas, or Selasi-to-be. Basically deifying themselves and their ancestors, they build shrines and temples to themselves, and collect tithes as part of their government.

The powers of the Selasi are like OTL muses. They can grant inspiration, ideas, or that little push between indecision and action.

Spirits

A spirit can be two things. One is the collective representation of a collection, such as a city or an animal. Another is the specific consciousness of a highly atuned object, such as a holy mountain or a long river. Nogaia, the Island, abused daughter of Kagura and Dahare, is considered the first spirit. Another spirit is Kagaia, the seas surrounding Nogaia and separating her from Suigaia.

Recently, the Dread Citadel was granted its own spirit through proclamation. It's spirit watches over torture, taxes, and tyranny.

The powers of spirits are like the numen of Roman Mythology. Appeasing them lets one complete a specific task concerning the spirit's guarded population easier. Angering them and they themselves would act, or even get allies against you. Certain people may also ask for spirits to guard them.

"Guardian Spirits" are sometimes called to defend Degate households from danger.

Deities

Deities come from concepts. While the sea would be a spirit, the ocean of all the seas would be a deity. The sun is a spirit, the day is a deity. Deities differ from spirits in their powers and their limitations. A specific example os Turino, the deity of all islands and isolated lands.

Recently, the institution of the Kele has been deified as the Kelete. Kelete represents both the idea, the act, and the result of the Kele slavery.

While selasi prod the mind and spirits physical objects, Deities can manipulate both but more often rely on subservience of Selasi, Spirits and Humans to achieve their goals. They also retain the powers of creation and destruction.

Eltain can still join merely by quoting his joining form ;) I hope he does so :p

First of all, I'd like to say, welcome back erez. Your NES was the first NES I joined way back when I was still in high school. So I think its fitting that I return from my haitus by joining your NES. A fresh start. Should be fun?

Bharata/Kentharu
Monarchy
Religion: Polytheism
Age: Bronze
Stability: Stable
Economy:
Projects:
Information:

Bharata is ancient. Everlasting. The ebb and flow of the Indus is that of life and death. It floods and recedes as its people do, but with time the people slowly defied the river. And so with time, war, and much bloodshed, a people were born. A people with common bonds, shared beliefs, though they would not admit it, emerged from the ashes. They built cities to their own vanity. Their desire to rule one another fueled their lust for war. So they fought. Fought for years on end until their vanity was but burnt timber and crumbling stone. No king would yield, for pride was to great a prize to give up. Thus, as the Indus did ebb and flow, so did the kings of old. The waters lapped at the city walls, nibbling away until it devoured them. The earth clawed at their buildings, pulling them back to whence they came. To those who would look back at this era of the Indus, all might seem lost. Yet it was not so. For from the ruins of a thousand lives and tens of cities came an Emperor to unite them all. Through rage and fire he would carve a place for himself that the river could not touch. He saw beyond small cities and envisioned a force which would shake the world. He to lusted for power, just as the others did. He reached to the heavens and sought to strip the power of the gods themselves. He was the embodiment of vanity, pride, lust and greed. Yet he succeeded where the others had failed. Though he committed horrors which the Raja’s of old could not have thought to commit, he prevailed where they did not. Perhaps he saw something they did not, or perhaps he sought something they did not. He had lust, yes. But not for himself, but for his people. He would be remembered, yes. Not remembered as a great king, but an Emperor of a Great people. The Bharata.
He was Krishna, Father to us all.

-----

The Bharata are a people born of war and strife, but through their strife came solidarity. This was not necessarily of their own choosing as the great Emperor Krishna, upon pacifying the warring city-states of the Indus, had essentially purged all opposition to his rule. No question was left in the minds of the citizens of Bharata that were left. Krishna was the one true ruler of the Indus, and he would not be denied. But of course Krishna was not a god, though he tried very hard to be. And as all mortal men are want to, he died. But his death did not bring a civil war fought out by his sons because his sons were all dead, save one. Beshma, his third son had seized power just a few months before the ailing Krishna met his timely demise. With his coup complete, and all his brothers, and threats to his rule eliminated, he cared out what he thought his father’s vision was. That is, to conquer the world for the glory of Dharma. Let’s see how this goes…

Unique unit: I have very common units.

Put me on the Indus. I’d love the coast, since the sea is nice and stuff.

Hadraak/Eltain (Hadraaki)

Government: Theistic Despotism: Early Hadraaki governments consisted of a God-Monarch which ruled over all. In the event of the God-Monarch's death (they are always referred to as gender neutral, because Gods do not have genders), a council of Priests gather in the city of Hardraak, in the great temple known as Basu Manu (literally "temple house") to secretly pray for their answer. A red flag is raised above the Basu Manu when the next God-Monarch is discovered to have ascended, and the people rejoice, or else.

Religion: Hadraaki Polytheism - Banu, the god of Death, represented in the cosmos by the Sun, rules the heavens with her wife, Sul, the god of Life, represented in the Cosmos by the moon. Each consecutive God-Monarch is represented by a star in the cosmos, and constellations and oral histories are built around each and every God-Monarch. In this way, Hadraaki history will last forever, but always be ever-changing; as changing as the stars.

Age: Bronze?

Stability: Stable?

Economy: A barter system exists at this point in time.

Projects: None?

Military: The Hadraaki military consists of massive levies of ill-trained spear warriors and shield warriors (note they are not the same), and an elite archer caste, trained from birth.

A recent addition has been the Harnn; a chariot-like contraption pulled by domesticated oxen, with both archers on the back and scythes on the wheels, which make excellent anti-infantry weapons.

UUs: /Hadraaki Harnn [Or, if that is not acceptable, a powerful Archer unit, described above.]

Location: Mesopotamia, Ur-ish?
