Esnaz's Mod

My help involved not reducing the size of the mod, but reducing the size of the download :scan:

Reducing the size of the mod was all Esnaz (converting sound files  ).

The wav files were about 540 MB! By converting them to mp3's, they were reduced to 74 MB. I should have noticed that before :mischief:

Would you be willing to split these fabulous civs into modules? I prefer to pick everything.

Sure, they are all in modular format, so it shouldn't be that difficult. It might take longer than expected because I'm working on a version two right now that I'm a day or two behind on. But I'll get to it ASAP

Edit: Nevermind...check my next post

Aeven, if you just want to exclude some of them for a game, you can also make them temporarily non-playable. Just edit each Civname_CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml for the civs you want to exclude and change:

Code:
<bPlayable>1</bPlayable>
<bAIPlayable>1</bAIPlayable>

to

Code:
<bPlayable>0</bPlayable>
<bAIPlayable>0</bAIPlayable>

Esnaz, you can release them all separate of course, but then be prepared for other requests like: "can you make a version with these in it, but not those..."

Exactly, I was just thinking over that...and it will be a long and tedious process. If I get a bunch of requests, perhaps I'll be up to it. But at the moment, I'm dealing with lots of other problems, splitting up the mod being the least. I'm really sorry Aeven, but Fierbras had a good suggestion, and knowing you [Aeven] work with XML, its not totally unreasonable to ask you to just go into several XML files and change a 0 to a 1. Once again, I apologize.

Hey there!

I've installed the Mod as per instructions with some of the additional info, but unlike some others, my game won't even show that the mod is there.

Any suggestions?

Any suggestions?

First, go into:
My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\
open the CivilizationIV text file. Scroll down to where it says Modular XML Loading= 0 and change the 0 to a 1.

Do the same thing, except the file path should be:
C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Esnaz's Mod
Open the Esnaz's Mod text file. Scroll down to where it says Modular XML Loading= 0 and change the 0 to a 1.

That should work

I found that earlier in the threads and tried it. The one in the My Games folder was set at 0, but I changed it to 1. The other one was already at 1.

Sorry to be a bother - any more suggestions?

Great mod, good Civ selections. colors, uu's/ub's and the
leaderheads are creatively done. (Mycenean one comes to mind)
(has anyone tried the avoided Protective/Organized or Creative/Charismatic for a leaders' traits?)

In order to get the mod to work i had to change the downloaded file Modular Loading to 1 but i did not have to change the setting in the main civ bts config. (which remains at 0)

There are many mods i can not get to work. Maybe they need to have Warlords/Vanilla/BTS (Patches) sub sections, but i am not sure the audience is there. At any rate it is nice to get a mod that loads
and plays easily.

Of course, if you didn't load it (Load the game, click on "Advanced" then "Load A Mod" then "Esnaz's Mod" and allow the game to restart). Did you get the latest patch? If not, you should download it, that might make a difference. Did you place it in the correct folder (C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods)?

That's all I can think of for now. I'll let you know if I come up with anything else. Sorry I can't be of more help :(

After I copied all the mod files into the My Docs\My Games\Beyond the Sword\MODS folder in addition to the Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization\Mods folder, it worked!

Thanks man!

There is your problem right there. If you only had the mod installed to the Program File/Fraxis Games/ Sid Meier's Civilization IV/ Mods folder the mod wont work as it is for BtS. If you go into the Beyond the Sword folder in the CivIV folder in program files you will find a mods folder. That is where the mod should be installed too.

Should have expected I was making such a simple mistake. First time mod user - even though I've been playing Civ since it first came out.

Maybe it's time to try multi or team play. Gotta broaden my horizons.

Downloading mods always adds more spice to the game. Glad to see your trying new things ;)
