Evidence for creationism

Continuing in this thread...

My Young Earth Creationist beliefs are based off Genesis 1. If YEC is not true, then Genesis 1 is not true. Nor is at least part of Genesis 2.
This is absolutely correct, yes.

"Hundreds of Thousands of Years" is a meaningless phrase to a YEC. My hypothesis is that while microevolution (Evolution within a kind) can happen, this does not translate to macroevolution, or evolution from one kind of an animal to another. For instance, I believe the ark only had 2 dogs on it, and that all the dogs in the world came from those two, but that two dogs will never make a non-dog.
Are dogs an unclean beast? I was under the impression that there were seven pairs of each clean beast and two pairs of each unclean beast.

So Domination, are you seriously telling me that all of these dogs, and the myriad other breeds, all came from 2 dogs however long ago Noah built the Ark?
Furthermore, if the Flood was worldwide, why were there animals in the New World even though Noah had no way of getting his Ark over there?

<snipping cute photos of dogs>

And what's even more those dogs are one of the many reasons why practically minded people came up with evolution a long time before Darwin proposed the ToE, which explains the mechanics. They realised that if they (and their ancestors) could breed a wide range of animal types from one or two basic models, then animals were probably doing it by themselves.

Can wolves produce dogs as offspring?

So did Noah take wolves and dogs on the ark or not?

Here's how he did it anyway

Oh yeah, sorry ;)

It is not certain what animals had 7 pairs on the ark, but 'clean' most likely refers to animals okayed for sacrifice, therefore cattle, sheep and goats.

The same way people moved to the other continents, through land bridges that existed in the post flood ice age. It is possible that some species were brought to other continents by people also in ancient times, or on rafts of vegetation.

Sigh. So then:
1) The Earth must be at least 15,000 years old, which itself contradicts the Bible, and
2) You must have some explanation as to why wildlife in Australia is so vastly different to the life in Eurasia, which would not be the case had all animal life migrated there post-flood.

Technically they're the same specie, and they interbreed, the offspring- unlike mules- of which can also breed.

Dogs are essentially a highly neotenic subspecies of wolf.

As for the widespread occurrence of flood myths in various cultures, it's funny how most ancient civilizations arose in the FLOOD PLAINS OF MAJOR RIVER SYSTEMS. You know, the kind of place where the most likely horrible every-few-centuries disaster would be... a big honking flood.

Post-flood ice age? Where's that in the Bible?

Temptation! God, whose capacity for love is infinite, did it to trick you into non-belief!

Using the Bible as a source for aging the Earth and explaining the appearance of all life on the planet is the same as using Wikipedia as a source in a PhD research paper.

It ultimately doesn't matter what it says in Genesis or any other book of the Bible as relates to the theory of Evolution. It's not a valid source.

Under Ancient Jewish Law they were unclean yes. Not anymore (There is no such concept anymore) but there was and dogs were considered unclean.

What about Australia? The world couldn't get cold enough to allow a land bridge to that without killing everything on it- the continental shelf just drops right off into the sea.

@Dom: Have you researched Biblical Literalism at all? If you do, you'll find that its relatively a new invention, as in coming about in the 20th century. Since that is the case, then how do you feel the Bible and religious writings/sayings were taken before the 20th century?

We are here. And most people in history have believed in God. Most people who are atheists have NOT been that way all our lives. The reason being because we have to convince ourself there is no God.

It's actually because most people grow up in households where, during their formative years, they are taught that there is a God. Feral children don't typically believe in Deities.

That is proof enough of God.

It's not convincing "proof" of anything, but it is evidence not of the existence of a deity, but of the human tendency to believe in the supernatural.

Yes. What you are telling me is that all those dogs, as well as all the cats, people, birds, exc. came from some germ 4 billion years ago. Your way is less believable.

As for the New World, its unlikely anything lived there pre-Flood. If they did, they were destroyed. Which means those types of animals either lived somewhere else or somehow got to Noah.

Ummm... The Earliest Church leaders accepted it, as did the apostles. So its not new at all.

Please stop telling us what evolution is, Domination, because you clearly have no idea. We did not all spring from "some germ". Only creation stories like to posit a solitary ancestor of all things living.
