could you add the Duke of Caxias to the list? He could replace Oliver Cromwell, which is the leader of the Protectorate civ.
Edit: could you also add Domingos Jorge Velho and/or Raposo Tavares to Great Recon?

Huh. I though I had checked to see if there was a Protectorate Civ out there and didn't turn anything up. Maybe I meant to, forgot to, then assumed I didn't find it later. Sorry about letting that one slip through the cracks.

Anyhow, I added your recommendations to the list I've been working on for JFD, so they can be included in the next update (assuming JFD wants to). Though if that Leugi / Tarcisio Brazil split ever sees the light of day, I could see Velho and Tavares getting split off so the Captaincies Unique Recon unit will have its own set of names.

ExCE updated to v12.
  • Fixed an issue wherein the Airship unit class was being added even when the Airship unit was disabled.
  • Added a few extra Great Admiral, Great General, Great Merchant, and Great Recon names thanks to Reedstilt.
  • With CBP, Vanilla Monopoly now nets 5 Happiness. Manuscripts Monopoly nets +5% Faith and +5% Culture in all Cities.
  • With CBP, Manuscripts is associated with Firaxite Materials and Obsidian is associated with Civilized Jewelers.
  • With CBP, added 'Scented Fragrances' Corporation: +2 Trade Routes, +2 Faith, Food, and Culture on Herbalists, Vanilla, Obsidian, Saffron, and Scented Fragrances Offices. +33% Faith, Food, Culture on Trade Routes to Franchises (a bit confused about the difference between, say, Firaxite Materials, which gives 100% Science on Trade Routes to foreign Franchise cities, and LandSea Extractors, which gives 10% Science). No idea if balanced, so let me know - I was generous with the numbers because I these three yields probably fall short of the Science and Production bonuses associated with other Corps, as well as because there are only three resources tied to this Corp.
  • Great Admiral ability to acquire Luxury Resources moved from CID to here. (no conflict in the meantime before CID is updated to remove this)

Great Recon units tested and confirmed to still found Colonies. Also, could not re-create the Terracotta Army issue - Scouts worked as expected.

Neat re: corporation. Firaxite Mateirals grants 100% of the science generated naturally by international trade routes (i.e. from influence and tech difference). LandSea gives a flat 10% to the city.

If you need an additional resource for the corp, you could move More Luxuries' Perfume over. It'd make sense.

Okeee. Going to give people a chance to express their sensibilities.

Tribes need an icon by which to be identified, generally. EUIV proposes the Plains American headdress:

This is possibly going to rustle some feathers - and tbh I can sympathise this time :p - as obviously Plains Americans are not the only Tribal societies in the world and, more importantly, are not the only Tribes in the mod. But I am going to be using this icon unless someone proposes an alternative of higher quality and lesser specificity. So I'll have no mega-Jynxes trying to suppose my intentions behind this icon when Tribes is finally re-released.

This has been an imperial announcement.

I think that's fine. It easily represents an idea very quickly, and while I'm sure other symbols have been used in the past for representing tribes, the link to tribal america is very strong, and as such the headdress works really well as a quick visual symbol.

Have to agree with Kesler here. Ideally something without the obvious link to Tribal America, but still representing Tribal society would be great, but I don't think it's worth neither the work that would go into finding something suitable nor the risk of causing confusion about what it is suppose to represent.

.. And sorry nice to see Tribes again; they've been missed..

What about a tent or pavilion? Tribes from all over the world have lived in them, so it could be used as a broader symbol.

I like the crossed axes as well, though if the 'Tribes' might include things like the sufis as in the last iteration, which are sort of only loosely in the 'tribe' category, than perhaps something like a simple rough flute icon?

An icon of a small wooden flute, if we could find one, would get across the 'idea' of a tribe, I feel, without necessarily implying 'warlike' as in the axes or with necessarily 'primitive' technology, as with the arrowhead.

Got to agree that the crossed axes imply 'warlike' as Kuserab says, even though it's a nice icon. The one reedstilt suggested is a better option I think.

Something like this maybe?

Unrelated note: JFD, can you make Barbarians immune to attrition? I keep seeing barbarian camps spawning in deserts then getting all their units killed from attrition.

I thought units born in a certain harsh terrain automatically got immunity to that terrain?

Depending on how JFD wrote that, it might not affect them due to the way barbarians are spawned.

I find that barbs usually have attrition immunity.

Re: Barbs - they will start with immunity to the terrain in which they spawn.

Tomahawk and Arrowhead icons reflect, as pointed out, a war-like nature to Tribes that I am explictly avoiding, and is no less generic than the headdress. The hut isn't really in the style of the existing icon. A flute strikes me as odd, as certainly non-Tribal cultures enjoy their flutes. Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm content with the current one.

Re: Barbs - they will start with immunity to the terrain in which they spawn.

Maybe the barbs I'm seeing spawned elsewhere and migrated to the desert camps, only to die there.

If you're interested in the hut icon at all, I think it would be fairly simple to edit it to be more similar to the other ones. I can give it a shot if you want.

EDIT: I did it anyway.

Dear JFD!

Since I haven't seen Tribes in their past form, may I ask some questions about them?

Are they visible from the beginning? So by founding cities they can be taken into consideration? Or they got "revealed" later on?

How large is their territory usually, and how rare they are?

The tiles within their territory can only be improved by annexing them first; is there a more bloodthirsty way? So can they be destroyed, like units razing them or something? (Not that I would, because those bonuses are awesome :yumyum: , but choices, choices :p )

And remaining by annexation, can Scouts get leveled up to lvl 5 in the later game somehow (and becoming Great Scouts hence be able to annex Tribes)? Ofc survived scout(s) from early game is one way, but what if no tiles left to be revealed? But then again, Barracks building line + getting some XP in wars are always alternative ways, and leveling up Scouts so you can annex those Tribes is a delightful way to encourage exploration, so this question probably was useless, forgive me :mischief: (rambling off)

Thank you for all your work!
