Exploring the Subconcious mind

I am not very sure where the subconscious ends, and where the unconscious begins, but i think that the subconscious is mostly your entire thought progression, along with traumatic experiences and key moments of change. The unconscious, on the other hand, i think is what is below all that; it is the very mechanisms which make thought and experience possible, and in normal circumstances it cannot be accessed.
Also from what i have read it would seem that the unconscious is by far the biggest part of one's psyche. Whereas the conscious self is tiny in comparisson to it.

in dreams, it is said, you can push your hand through solid objects; it's one of the basic tests of whether you're dreaming or not. Turns out, in this dream I couldn't for some reason. I was relieved that I didn't start the mayhem just yet and walked calmly back to my bed (in a house that was nothing like my own, mind you), and went back to 'sleep' in the middle of my dream! Boy was I pissed when I finally really did wake up.

The only thing I can't do in my dreams is die. If I'm about to die, I wake up. People often say "pinch me, I'm dreaming" and so I've tried to pinch myself (in my dream) to wake myself up. I was once in a nightmare, knew it was a nightmare, and couldn't wake up. I ended tossing myself off of a building to wake myself up, though (upon waking) it doesn't seem like a very smart thing to do

The Department of Defense has a machine that can explore the subconcious mind. It's tax payer money well spent since it is used for medical purposes.

Well I'm not so sure I want to lucid dream. The only time I remember lucid dreaming was back in Grade 5, and I decided since it was a dream that I would ask this girl out. I got shot down. FML

You are lucky you can wake up from nightmares. I have to live through the night mare, and suicidal actions such as these end up with me surviving. I can only wake up when everything turns calm =(.

I have lucid dreams I remember when I sleep on my back. If I start sleeping on my stomach, I never seem to have any.

In my reading about it, there are about as many theories about the conscious vs unconscious mind as there are psychologists and hypnotherapists. Me, I'm not a mechanic, just a driver. I don't worry about what is under the hood, as long as it responds to the controls correctly. :D

By the way, best book for learning "adult" recreational hypnosis: Look Into My Eyes, by Peter Masters

Lucid dreaming is a way to go for exploring subconscious mind. Also it is a great kind of entertainment - it is like perfect virtual reality. Better than any drug :D.

Except that what's under the hood changes your impression of your control.
