This is why other cities in Britain are on full alert now, as should many other G8 nation cities be.

EDIT - It is by no means out of the terrorist capacity to cause simultaneous explosions across major cities in all the G8 nations. We need to engage and mainstream these groups more, force them through a legitimate political process, which will require them to seek peaceful means. Talk to them, not shoot them, which will never make them go away. I think the idea of 'living with it' is not acceptable. We need to engage them and 'legitimise' them. Our current reaction is simply to disenfranchise them further, making them angrier still.

So many of the people theyve stopped randomly to interview on the streets of London are clearly of ROTW origin, and also so clearly British.

It would not surprise me if the plan was to set off 8 bombs, being symbolistic for the G8 meeting.

Number 30 Bus - Hackney to Marble Arch
Gulp. I used to ride that bus everyday

Aussie was in one of the trains is OK ...

Also probably unrelated (or a nutter who was triggered by the London terrorist attack) a man with knife was arrested trying to burn down the Prime Ministers Sydney home (Kirribilli House) ... PM was in Canberra at the time ...

I sure hope I won't be proven wrong by a series of bombs all through Paris, Berlin and Rome in five minutes, but I think that is very unlikely. Too coordinate that they would need alot of international communication, which would make the operation very vulnerable to being picked up by counter intelligence somewhere. The risk is probably, hopefully, too high.

ROTW?

Do you mean tourists for the festival?

.
No I mean theyve been interviewing Brits on the streets to get their reactions, and many of them appear to have their origin elsewhere, like the ME and South Asia, but their mannerisms and way of speaking mark them as Brits first and foremost. In case its not clear, Im saying thats a great thing.

That's terrible. You know it will happen one day, but when it actually happens, you're shocked.

My deepest sympathies with the British people.

Thanks Winner and to all those who've expressed sympathies.

As I've said earlier as a nation we're not in shock, we've expected it for some time, and have some experience historically with the IRA.

I think I speak for most of us when I say that those of us that are okay send our thoughts and prayers to those who have suffered.

Yeah, the CDZ people can keep the chatlogs from the Demogame out of the way.
I do not want the CDZ people to abuse ISDG finals affiliation in order to disenfranchise me off topic, that is plain rotten.

I am also curious to see how the demogame finals work out.

I think it very appropriate that GWB and Chirac stood beside Blair. If you English need anything from us, just ask, okay?

Igloo, so you going to clear your PM box, or should I just print out my reply and use it as a coaster for my coffee:crazyeye:

Moderator Action: A lot of people are reacting with shock and outrage to the events that have happened in London. Many people are dead. Hundreds are injured. Please try to restrain some of the wilder reactions.

Many posters may have friends and loved ones involved.

The reason I think it may have been suicide bombers is, there were 6 bus blasts, is that right? It seems hard to believe that in all six, nobody, drivers or passengers, noticed that a person was leaving without their bag.
It's very easy to believe that that could happen.

Especially since the passengers who did notice would probably be dead by now. Plus we don't know how many bombings were attempted.

So what does ROTW stand for?

It is rather scary given that I went through Kings Cross tube station about 6 times over tuesday and yesterday :(

I am glad I did not stay in london another day.

Yeah, I usually arrive at work at 8 but over slept to be travelling in for 9. Glad I didn't use an alternative route as well...
