Fall Further - The Original Thread

The installer is awesome Vehem and great release thanks.

One little thing though, actually two little things: I have the error Tarendel experienced, guess that'll get fixed in patch A and also the installer creates the shortcut depending on the default install path not the modified path should you modify it (I made mine Fall Further 040 instead of Fall Further and it didn't work).
 
Yeah, once I actually built a city bordering the Hippus I could tell the difference. I personally think it would look better if the Austrin were a little bluer rather than a little yellower than the Hippus though.


When I got the tech that allows Foreign Trade the pop-up had a TXT_KEY_... (somehting to do with Free Trade)

A few turns latter I got a seemingly random CtD. This was the turn after I spread CoE with the Nightwatch I got from buying Deception from Hyborem.

Yep, that qualifies a good reason.
I've just added Blackwater and Blighted Coast (hell terrain versions of ocean/coast - cloned from the originals with a slight brightness decrease). The blending however is not 100% perfect. It's not too bad and it certainly allows you to see where Hell terrain has spread to in the ocean (the main reason for doing it), but I'd like to sort it if I can - possibly in a later patch.
I've been hoping for that. It looked odd to have complete hell, then sunny blue water in the middle of it.
 
Sounds good. You actually get 2 mod folders now, so everything in the FfH mod folder at the time you install Fall Further will be duplicated and then updated with the FF changes. That does mean more space is needed overall, but it allows you to play both versions and keeps things tidy.

I'm actually going to revise Fall Further for next version such that it is self-contained and not reliant on the FFH install (basically the resources path). That means you'd be able to delete the original folder if space is a real issue.

That being said - I currently have 23 different copies of Fall from Heaven/Fall Further (starting at version 016) not counting Age of Ice, as well as several backup copies of various Fall Further versions on various other hard drives/the internet. I think I may have "a problem".

Thanks very much. Having the two mod folders is a real boon. Have you thought about modifying the desktop icon to help tell them apart?

I'm not up to 23 versions, but I am looking forward to starting with a clean slate again.
 
Vehem made his mod an own desktop icon.
During initializating map I got a TXT_KEY_HINT_..., I checked the (rather weird) Civilopedia, unter hint section & found 65 of them.

Austrin & Khadi share the same flagicon in the civpedia, also shows up when the game starts with the intro to the civ.
 
ok i just installed it, I belive im running it correctly..all i did was download and clicked on the installer..it downloaded to a set place and i just clicked the Fall Further ICON and wa la it works automaticly i guess lol...i see the new civs i belive but wanna make shure im launching it normally so i dont miss out on other things it has possiblee:)
 
Vehem, I posted a patch L version of the MODCOMP. I figure you'll spot that on your own, but wanted to add some comments for the import:

Most of the XML has changed for Workermod a little bit. Pretty sure that back when you imported it I didn't have Empower or Golden Hammer granting Workrate bonuses, so the Mud Golems suffered a fair amount comparitively.

I've also enabled the Power Graphs (I don't know why Firaxis forgot them with the No Espionage Option), and changed the Cursors for Rebase/Recon/Airlift, and added a small icon for Raw Mana and fixed the icon for Pearls to actually be a pearl.


Mostly just wanted to point out the changes in the Promotion or Unit fields though, as doing a comparison is mostly impossible because of how heavily I have reformatted them. I'd switch back to Kael's setup if I hadn't fallen in love with having the WorldBuilder sorted in a manner that makes sense to me :)
 
BUG mod options menu doesnt work, instead of havnig options it complains about not being able to find Fall From Heaven 2 032.ini

Furthermore, even manually swtiching off the stupid flashing reminder of how to open said option in BOTH bug mod ini in the fall further folder, does nothing.

what are you talking about? are these things ur mentioning in the Fall Futhur Mod? or is it ur own mod?

My good friend MaxAstro found the problem.

In Assets/Python/Contrib/CvModName.py you forgot to change Fall From Heaven to Fall Further.

Playing as Cualli, some idiots summoned Hyborem, and he spawned right next to me. This was pretty early in the game, stupid Perp must have beelined him. Fearing for my beautiful lush jungles and realising I didn't really have anything that could take on Hyborem, I realised the one thing I did have was a bunch of assassins; so I DoWar'ed him immediately and slaughtered his settler right out from under him. Without a city (and soon, an army) he sat around on a tile doing nothing (even a desert, fortunately for me) until I could whip up enough units to kill him.

Happened I think after my assassin picked up Hyborem's gela, and when I selected my swordsman who had Orthus' axe.
 
what are you talking about? are these things ur mentioning in the Fall Futhur Mod? or is it ur own mod?

He is talking about his own modcomp--which Veham has already stated that he would include in Fall Further once it was updated.
 
Another bug - Priest of Arguon built in a city to which Ashen Veil had spread could cast Ring of Flames. Intended?
 
I'm getting a consistent unhandled exception error in the .40 game I'm playing (as the Austrin). I don't really know what's causing it. It seems to happen just after Arturus Thorne takes his turn. I know this because Barbatos the Lich is in his vicinity, and I have an Explorer approximately in the area so I can see them moving around. However, Barbatos is NOT the cause because I tried deleting him via the World Builder and still got the crash.

I'm attaching the savegame just before the crash (and without making any World Builder alterations.) I've tried it three times so I'm pretty certain it'll play out to a crash no matter what you do.

I was able to sacrafice a unit in the Austrin capital (same mechanic as demonic altar from the look of it). Austrin hero should either have explore rival territory like rogues do, or hero promotion (or both! ;) otherwise he's just a swordsman with air scaling :\

I enjoyed the mod otherwise.. now to get myself another Hyborem game going and check out hell waters!
