cant say anyone of note, my HS opened around '70 and shut down recently. It was built at the base of Twin Peaks in San Francisco for its central location to accommodate the city's handicapped kids and happened to be close to where I lived on Mt Davidson, thats the big hill south of Twin Peaks with the giant concrete cross used in the movie Dirty Harry. We (the neighborhood kids over the years) had like a 35-40 ft rope swing up there just north of the cross, that was awesome :)

Some friends and I were shot at by a sniper with a silencer one night while crossing the field (around '73 I think). We were walking along when we heard what sounded like a very fast insect (bzzzt) go by us and thump into the ground. That spooked us, we stopped (doh!) and another went by and we took off running. As we ran up the long staircase of the stadium the bzzzts were smacking into concrete nearby and it became even more obvious some ahole was shooting at us. We didn't think about it at the time, but the gym was open (we ran right by it) and there were adults inside playing basketball. Someone did report being shot at that night as they left the gym, we were punk kids still and didn't even think of calling the cops. Was it Zodiac? Could have been, never gave it much thought at the time.

We did play and beat OJ Simpson's HS (Galileo?) near the Wharf and the North City and I went 3-3 with a triple and 2 doubles against Tom Brady's HS just south of the city. ;)

wow, your school is on wiki?!

a few major celebrities for 15 minutes, nobody big for long.

Lots of Actors/Singers. Wasn't TECHNICALLY an arts school, but it had a great arts program so we produced a lot of talent like that.

From wikipedia:

* John C. Bailar, Jr., considered by the school to be its "First Graduate"
* J.J. Thomas, 2002 Olympic bronze medalist, men's halfpipe
* John Charles Vivian, Ex-Governor of Colorado
* Tim Riordan, Savior of a 4 month-old baby in the Great Golden Car Lift of 2007
* Michael K. Wirth, Executive Vice President Chevron Corporation
* Greg Germann, actor
* Jackson Sutherland, Creator of Microsoft & The Heated Toilet Seat
* Christie Houser, actress
* Bill Phillips, a fitness and nutrition author and entrepreneur, former CEO of Experimental and Applied Sciences (EAS)

Kneel before my school! Without it, all your toilets would be cold!

Wiki lists 3 people who aren't actually famous for my high school

Wiki lists 3 people who aren't actually famous for my high school
Wikipedia, being Wikipedia, tends to do that. So, apparently, do a bunch of people in this thread.

Only three people whose names I recognized, (Erle Stanley Gardner, James Franco and Joan Baez) besides from knowing them personally (Timu Wusu, Tad Williams)

Some writers:
Erle Stanley Gardner (mystery writer)
Tad Williams (fantasy writer)
John Markoff (NY Times reporter)
Karen Joy Burke Fowler (Jane Austen book club)
Margot Early (romance author)

Some in film with an apparent connection to Disney:
James Franco
Charles Heid (Hill Street Blues)
Tom Stern (cinematographer, Million Dollar Baby)
Rob Minkoff (director, Lion King)
Ollie Johnsotn (animator, Snow White)
Kirk Wise (director, Beauty and the Beast)

Some irrelevant athletes:
Jim Harbaugh (NFL)
Timi Wusu (NFL)
Dave Schulz (Olympic gold wrestler, world champion)
Mark Schulz (Olympic gold wrestler, world champion)
Rin Babka (Olympic discus thrower)
Lester Steers (world record high jump)

Some female musicians:
Joan Baez
Grace Slick
The Donnas

A few male musicians I've never heard of as well:
Ron McKernan (Grateful Dead)
Ron Brooks (Digital Underground)
Whitfield Crane (Ugly Kid Joe)
Luke Paquin (Hot Hot Heat)

Well, the most notable would probably be Mark Latham, former Opposition Leader. My school kind've shutup about him when he lost the plot. The there's all of Human Nature (two of them went to my primary school as well, and there mother is my piano teacher), Logie-winner Kate Ritchie, actor and singer Dan O'Connor, Roy Watts (government guy from way back), radio presenter Subby Valentine, rugby player David Lyons, hockey player Melanie Wells, former Australian treasurer John Kerin, former Police Commissioner Jim Lees, Mark Binskin, who is current head of the Air Force, John Edmondson VC (WWII hero), Sir William Keys (national secretary of the RSL) and author Peter Moore.

But I don't suppose most of you have heard of any if these people.

Someone here must have gone to Eton: "In recent years, the school has become popular with the British Royal Family; Princes William and Harry are Old Etonians. Eton has also produced eighteen British Prime Ministers, including William Ewart Gladstone, Robert Walpole and the first Duke of Wellington. A rising number of students come to Eton from overseas, including members of royal families from Africa and Asia, some of whom have been sending their sons to Eton for generations. One of them, King Prajadhipok or Rama VII (1893 - 1941) of Siam, donated a garden to Eton. [29] Old Etonians include Guy Burgess, George Orwell and Henry More. Actors who attended Eton include Hugh Laurie, Damien Lewis and Patrick Macnee."

Wikipedia doesn't mention anyone from my high school, and I don't really know of any. We have long had a really good football program (about which I never really cared), so I know we do have several good College Football Players and at least a few Pros.

Mine isn't. How big was your high school?

I think size is a pretty critical factor. (Regarding number of famous alums, not Wikipedia mention.) I mean I'm sure Whomp's school was exceptional in academics and not just a really big school, but in most cases the bumps are probably just because the schools were really big. Mine had fewer than 200 students in 9-12 when I was there, and it's much larger now than it was several decades ago.

I win. Dont care wghat you think of U2, they are ore famous than anyone else mentioned here (barring Dan Catellenata)
