A Glimpse of the History of a People
Dualism - 2
By 50 A.F., Roland Du'al was close to dying. His life was unusually long, a sign that he was blessed by Glikanhra. He was propped up on his bed and his hand wrote down print in shaky but legible handwriting. He was resting when a man stepped into his home.
"Giakil liakantu," he said in standard, not bothering to get up because of the creak in his bones. "My son."
"Tikuyaiyaikan," his son said, in standard. "Father."
They sat in silence for approximately three seconds before his son spoke up.
"Tikuyaiyaikan, we have news of the Barbarian Conflict." He didn't wait for his father to say anything.
"It's about the Turals."
"What...other conflicts...could there be?" His father still kept the sharp mind, but his body limited him.
His son smiled.
"We have crushed their armies. They have no unified army. We have pushed back, as you ordered, and given no mercy. Their warlord has even been killed."
"Good..."
"Well, I have to be off. Glikankanhramikilku."
"Glikankanhramikilku."
His son spun, cape twisting, and stepped out.
"My son, the council member," thought Roland proudly.
He couldn't help reminiscing over his son as he stared down at the characters written in formal Cumulan[1].
His son, one of the nine Ozrai[2] of The Truth, and one of the Council of Nine, a Lord, probably the most assertive. He had a fiery personality which ended up as him being the unofficial leader of the Council. Although the Council was created to be fair, he was so charismatic and intelligent that most of the other members had just decided to simply pretend to argue and side with whatever he picked. He seemed to be so correct that to even to pretend to question him was probably not necessary, but it was necessary to keep a façade up.
Of course, it didn't matter to Roland Du'al. He was blissfully unaware of this and instead glared down. He was so tired and wanted to rest, but he couldn't. He had to finish his last treatise.
--
Roland Du'al died in his sleep a day after he placed the last period on his treatise. There was a ceremony which his son attended. At the end of the traditional funeral, Ozrai Du'al surprisingly did not dismiss everybody but clapped his hands loudly.
"I have an announcement," he called. The people went quiet."The Council of Ozrai have come to a conclusion," he said, in formal. "Clearly, my father," and here, his voice cracked just a little and he had to stop for a second. "My father," he said, again, "was a great man. And the Council have decided with unanimous consent that he has been so influential in his writings and his orations that we have added his writings to The Book of Truth!" He is now a saint, a Liaaymguratudo of highest honor! The Book of Roland! The Book of Roland!"
--
And so Roland Du'al became the first and only addition to the Book. And so people were enamored with him and referred to the truth as Dualism, and the name stands to this day. And Ozrai Du'al's power was nicely consoldated even further.

[1] Cumulan, at least, in Hyoln, goes like this - The basic informal alphabet is of twenty-six basic sounds that are written out with symbols. Symbols are placed next to each other to make words. There are symbols for words, like Chinese, but the grammatical idiosyncracies are of English such as verb conjugations that are added on with the alphabet (kind of like Japanese)
[2]Ozrai is like a High Priest or like Archbishop, but more prestigious. There are only nine at any time and they all are pretty much the religious authority in each of their regions. There is one Ozrai for every major tribe.
