Inspired by the favorite guitarist thread.
Don't feel obligated to post a drum solo, drum solos are not necessarily a good measure of how good a drummer is, and often times they can be a bit tedious. I think the video I posted is a good exception.

Buddy Rich was out of this world :worship:

Probably Neil Peart (Rush) although Stuart Copeland (The Police) was excellent as well.

David Girabaldi (Tower of Power), Max Wienburg (Bruce Springsteen), Carter Beauford (DMB) and ?uestlove (The Roots).

Bonham and Copeland are also awesome of course.

Dave Lombardo (from Slayer, Fantomas, Voodoocult, Testament etc.) is the best drummer. Period.

Gotta go with Keith Moon

Of course there's Mickey Hart as well.

But the guy I've always been a HUGE fan of that seems to go without notice is Mick Avery of the Kinks. An incredible drummer.

He's not big and flashy like most drummers, but I love his style, and his scat-style drum fills are great. He's just fun to listen to.

Another vote for Stewart Copeland

Ringo :mischief:

Seriously though, probably Dave Grohl.

Ringo is certainly not one of the greatest drummers of all time , but due to his cheesy persona and the brilliance of his bandmates , is often underrated .

he has his own sound (which is hard for a drummer to achieve) and compliments Paul`s base perfectly .

Interesting to note that John Lennon still used him on his solo records .

And gotta agree , the guy from Slayer is amazing.

You've got to hand it to the guy for his showmanship despite this song being very simple on the drums. The robot drumming at about 2:25 gets me every time.

It's simplicity is probably why he did that. Face it, people like to mess around and do ridiculous things when they're doing something simplistic/boring/easy in a group. Heck, even playing drums on rock band occasionally gets me bored enough to do crap like this.
