Favorite Map Choices?

I have some favorites, depending upon what kind of game I'm Playing. For map sizes, generally I play standard or small (depending upon which computer I'm using - small on my laptop, standard on the desktop ;) ), and I always put in at least half again more than the recommended number of civs. Some maps, I use 2x as many (especially the tectonic's ones)

Isolation/builder
Tectonics (Mediterranean or 30% water)
Hemisphere's
Global Highlands
Hub/Ring/Wheel
Lakes

Fast games
Pangea (always great, and the AI understands it)
Donut (especially good in multiplayer)
Inland Sea

My favorites (for huge/epic or marathon games) are :
- Erebus Continents, medium cohesion, low water, eventually reduced number of tundra/deserts to make more sure everyone has a good start, xy wrap (but with ice blocking most of the north-south paths). It's based on the best map script ever made for civ4, and as about everything is customizable you don't really need another.
- Highlands (but not global highlands, as there is too much water for my taste) with seas and rare peaks (to avoid the mountain wall phenomenon) and cylindric wrap
- Pangea, rocky and with natural coasts

I played some good games on Erebus and Mountain Coast too, but I had to restart too many times on them because of blocked starts or quasi blocked ones (ie : you start in a valley, the only way out is one tile large, you can't expand out early because there are spider/bears in the path, and once you finally kill them, you realise that the valley ends in the middle of another civ territory). Also I prefer to be on a wraparound map as it makes late game faster.

I play tectonics
30% water
rocky terrain
normal climate

Its a bit like Erebus, but the mountain ranges are not so unnatural looking, and chokepoints still exists, just not to the degree in Erebus.

30% water is still quite a bit, and there is still need for navy, but the land by and large is connected, which is good for a better AI challenge. I turn on blessings of Amatheon, because the extra resources allow the settling of the large areas of desert and plains. Even so, these areas, as well as the tundra remain largely uninhabited until midgame, meaning there are still plenty of lairs and barbarians.

The only thing is, you should bump up the number of AI's, because 30% water is more land. A good thing is, if you have cpu problems, you can play a small map with more players, and still have plenty of land to go around.
