Now, assume it is being run by your favorite mod, to the best of their abilitys.

This question is more about the era/setting.

Poll a'comin

Fresh Starts and Medieval Althistoryes. Especially Advanced Fresh Starts, but currently there is only one in the forum...

You will pardon me if I abstain for now; I keep changing my mind on this matter (but I think I like "Earth Based Alt Hist (Tanks)" and "Total Fantasy Fresh Start (Bronze)" the most as of now). Also, what is meant under Fantasy Earth?

Earth, but not based in history, not even a alt-hist.

Think aliens, think selected cradles...erm, basically anything that uses the earth as its map, but isn't historically factual...My NES could be an example..

Technically, fresh starts aren't all that historically factual either, though I suppose I could see the distinction between realistic fresh starts and old school ones.

true, but perhaps they will have the obvious locations where you can start a civ.. and people will chose names like Rome and Egypt..

Its only a small section really.. but once i had started dividing everything into B,K,T,S i kept with it :)

anything based around 1900 or earlier, I dislike the whole nuke standoff

AFSNES for the win! :)

Anything real world based (Including alt-history) between 1500 and 2008 AD

Alt Hist in the era between knights and tanks :p.
Dachspmg agrees with this statement, except he wishes to include tanks up to the point of the technological level of 1945 or so. A-bombs and other atomic-style weapons can be really annoying to deal with in the hands of nubcakes.

I tend to like everything from the bronze age to the modern age, and even some eras before and after those. I prefer cradles to Earth for fresh starts, simply because it adds a depth of realism in that we don't know where the continents are. However, I still like Earth fresh starts, as well as alternate histories.

A-bombs and other atomic-style weapons can be really annoying to deal with in the hands of nubcakes.

I tend to agree with this. I think it may become necessary for mods to include strict controls on how nuclear weapons can be used.

Tanks and Space, Tanks and Space, Tanks and Space, generally disinclined to anything directly historical in origin unless the mod is really good.

Anything unique- if I've done something before, then I tend to get bored and do stupid(er) things.

Generally have to say its more the mod than the setting, for me. My favourites have been 1494-1936, although INES (0-700 AD) was one of my all-time favourites. Never played in a serious space NES, although I'd love to try one out, I love the era.

Like is a different concept from Favorite. :p

I like cradle based games for the exploration and I like it grounded in history rather than fantasy or space. For me war got less interesting after 1865.

I think 1700-1940s is the best before nukes came along plenty of diplomacy. Possibility of war since people don't have nukes to stalemate everything and no chance of nuclear destruction.
