Favourite civ game

England

This one is hard.

Let's do this, Citis style.

Holkan v Redcoat

Neither are particularly helpful, but the Holkan helps the resourceless Maya from barbs.

Stock Exchange v Ball Court

Again, both are rather mediocre for their situation, but the Stock Exchange's extra gold can help.

Indirect Rule v Astronomy

Now this is where both these civs shine. Indirect Rule allows crazy extension. Astronomy allows you to have a "In Soviet Russia..." moment with respect to meeting Europeans.

This is hard, but I ultimately must give this to... Astronomy.

Maya wins!

England is a nice civ to play, but, as readers of my DoC AAR's can attest, it's more fun as an enemy, especially with its leaderheads' playstyles buffed. Maya as an AI holds no interest at all, but they offer a really unique playstyle for the human player.

So, Maya.

Maya vs English

Unique Unit:
Holkan (no requirement, +25% vs melee units) vs Redcoat (collateral damage):
Redcoat is more powerful against any unit, so it wins.

Unique Building:
Ball court (+2:)) vs Royal exchange (+15%:commerce:):
Royal exchange wins. You can use the extra gold to aquire this +2:) and even more.

Unique Power:
Astronomy (-40% cost until Middle ages) vs Indirect Rule (Reduced maintainance):
Astronomy expires, while indirect rule doesn't. So indirect rule wins.

1st goal:
Calendar vs British empire:
British empire wins.

2nd goal:
Temple of Kukulkan vs British navy:
Well, the british navy requires the Big Ben. Big Ben is more difficult, so I prefer the british navy.

3rd goal:
Great General vs Being forward:
Let's give it to Mayas, they deserve something :D.

Maya: 1
England: 5

So the British Empire wins.
