^I think the overall point is that people seemingly don't give the Khmer enough credit.
In actually quite a few posts that involve the Khmer, people want to refer to them as Vietnam for whatever reason, even though their cultures are wildly different from one another,
with the Khmer being much more Indic in terms of cultural inheritance, and the Vietnamese being Sinic.

Yeah I know it is not correct to assume to give more credit to Cambodia and Vietnam, because they are indeed different from the Khmer peoples. But hey, it's just a forum.
