looked through the civlopedia and wiki with no luck, was wondering if a more knowledgble player could answer these please..

1) What does razing the founding city for a religion do in terms of relgious victory and spread of that religion (more importantly in respect to ashen veil)?

2) How does the first strike combat mechanic work? i.e does it work only on attack?

3) What determines which city will be choosen when you found a religion - is it random?

4) Never seen the cult of the dragon in any game i have played - what triggers its arrival?

Any help appreciated :)

1) What does razing the founding city for a religion do in terms of relgious victory and spread of that religion (more importantly in respect to ashen veil)?

Religion percents are calculated as the percent of the worls population that follows that religion. So razing cities removes that population from the mix.

2) How does the first strike combat mechanic work? i.e does it work only on attack?

Rounds of combat are rolled with either the winner or loser winning. The winner of the roll does damage to the other. First strike chances are rounds where the unit with first strike isn't injured if he loses the roll. So he either does damage or nothing is done.

3) What determines which city will be choosen when you found a religion - is it random?

Not truely, there is a lot that goes into it. The calculation generally favors your laregst city that isnt your capital.

4) Never seen the cult of the dragon in any game i have played - what triggers its arrival?

The Cult won't show up in games unless the Kuriotates or the Sheaim are in the game.

As for "what razing a Holy City does for religious Victory," I am reasonably certain that in order to get religious Victory you must:
1) Have 80% Influence according to the F7 Screen
2) Have that religion as your State Religion
3) Control the Holy City
4) A certain minimum number of other civilizations must also follow the religion.

I am not dead certain that 4 is a requirement. But I am almost rock solid that the other 3 are. This means that razing a Holy City makes it impossible for THAT RELIGION to get a religious victory.

I also believe that it causes the natural (non-disciple) spread of the religion to slow down or halt completely, meaning that OTHER religions are now more easily able to get the Religious victory.

Also, i believe that actually the new religion is founded in your newest city. at least that's how it works every time for me, even if that city has much less pop than the other cities you control.

heavy bias towards cities without religion

nop : toward the newest city !!
-having force-converted my new cities with 2 religion in order to have my already holy city get a second 1 (1religion) gives the new holy city to last acquired city,
-big non-capitale city vs new little city (no religion anywhere) Holy city goes in the new city.

IIRC : non capital, lower number of religions, city size and date of acquistion of a city play when the holy city is chosen, but not with the same weight
